QUOTE(BlackPen @ Oct 3 2012, 10:16 PM) Hi, want to ask. My current basic salary 2300(haven't deduct epf and socso) and allowance is 600..income tax calculate basic or basic+allowance or gross income? if no pcb deducted then no need think of income tax. you can talk to your hr about it if you want more P&C info regarding ur salary.

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 12 2012, 02:54 PM) Depends on what is stated in your EA Form. The allowance is stated in monthly salary slip or not ? If yes, then must add-in. Cannot run away. I would like to correct the mentality. As long as there is income, must think about declaring the income. After declaration (submission), if no need to pay tax, then keep and file it properly for future reference. u r right just trying to simplify things for newbies

QUOTE(@lowyat @ May 16 2013, 12:41 PM) Hi all, I have a question regarding the personal income tax. I'm offered a job in China, by a foreign company's China branch. I will sign the contract directly with this branch office in China, and my salary will be paid in China, after deducting the Chinese income tax. The working period will be 2 years. May I know if based on this arrangement, I do not need to pay another income tax to LHDN for this income made in China right? Thanks inform LHDN you're like "retired" locally because of this arrangement.

QUOTE(@lowyat @ May 17 2013, 08:31 PM) Thanks both zenix and WLMS. The HR over there said they will sort out the Chinese tax but I will need to sort out over here myself. From the answers I think it's clear that I need to pay only my personal income tax in China. Also bro zenix, you mentioned about informing the IRB about "retired locally". Do I just walk in their office and informing them? Or do I need to get some papers from either my existing company in Malaysia or the new company in China? If after 2 years and I decided to come back and work in Malaysia, do I need to "re-activate" the account again? Thanks Not 100% sure on this because not first hand information. My dad isn't paying Malaysian tax anymore and his status is retired, but he still working overseas. But you still young dunno how this applies to you. You probably need to show them your offer letter/contract with your current company.

QUOTE(kakaakajes @ May 20 2013, 09:11 AM) Hi all, just wondering whether anyone can advise for this..... if we buy books online, then we put it for income tax relief, does the amount include/exclude the shipping fees of the book? and if it's in another currency, do we use the exchange rate based on time of purchase or when we file? Example situation: buying books in USD from amazon/ebay? Thanks! to make your life easier you can always use the final price after conversion stated in your credit card payment, right?

QUOTE(zdince @ Sep 1 2013, 02:43 PM) Hi all, i have a condition like this, a months ago i got salary increment to rm3200, which is rm2900 for the basic rate and rm300 petrol allowance, deduction kwsp is rm333.75 and without any other things like OT,additional pay , bla bla.. The problem is the HR did'nt deduct any tax amount from my payslip, so my payment is about 2866.55 after the kwsp deduction. I suppose there would be a tax deduction for those who has salary more than rm2500 ? I had simulate my salary details with PCB calculator from the LHDN, it did has tax deduction for rm16. But what makes me confuse is that the petrol allowance should have been exempted from the tax deduction from what i heard. The PCB calculator didn't provide any option to exempt the petrol allowance, if i deduct the petrol allowance manually from the total remuneration (rm3200 - rm300 = rm2900), the pcb calculator generate the results without any tax deduction. This really makes me confuse......... Anyone can enlighten me about this scenario? allowances if it is fixed every month will be taxable.
