QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Jun 13 2011, 09:55 AM) Haha. What happen? My previous Co. pays bonus, say this year, AND stated it as bonus earned for previous year. Thus i had several years' worth of EA forms affected, accumulative My overpayment is just a small amount. Few hundred only. That's why I'm not really in a hurry to get it back yet. I think they still checking cause past few years always pay few k tax even after monthly installments but this year overpayment. This post has been edited by wongmunkeong: Jun 13 2011, 01:27 PM |

Fellow forumers, heard anything about personal income tax on the FiT income?
Pretty big hit if an individual is taxed AND the donkey CAPEX cannot be depreciated. Copied and pasted from SEDA's website (http://seda.gov.my) 27. Is income from feed-in tariffs considered taxable income? Yes, it is taxable income and any exemptions would require a policy decision from the Government. KeTTHA will monitor the progress of renewable energy growth in the country and conduct necessary analyses before putting forth any policy recommendations on this matter. |

Added on January 10, 2012, 11:10 am QUOTE(Peter_APIIT @ Jan 9 2012, 01:58 PM) Hello to all, I have few questions to ask: a) Previously, I worked for company A and deduct tax through PCB but i leave the company after 8 months. Do can reclaim back from the company A and claim from LHDN. Thanks for the help. QUOTE(Peter_APIIT @ Jan 10 2012, 10:46 AM) It is not logic to claim from LHDN since the company A is not submitted the tax (PCB) to LHDN. Bro - if yr statement is true, then the statement below is true? Please advice. Company A deducted PCB from yr salary but didnt pay to LHDN If so, i think U better call LHDN and bring proof (salary slips with deduction), then get LHDN to check their system whether Company A paid LHDN the deduction yet (assuming several donkey months ago deducted from your salary slip ok?). I think LHDN will then have a case against Company A. Just based on past experience where chinaman company deducted from my salary but didnt pay to LHDN and EPF. Other bro & sis, please correct me if i'm in lalaland. Danke Side note - i've also had 2 EA forms (2 companies) within 1 tax year, no issue. Just make sure the above is cleared-up, especially if Company A refuses to give U your EA form (assuming again, 2011's EA form by Feb/Mar 2012). QUOTE(lewmoker @ Mar 7 2012, 10:35 AM) i just calculated back the comparison. Bro - earn $1, pay $0.26 max for income tax (26% for any $ over $xxx, xxx taxable income), still left $0.74 wor.back in 2010 i've got a promotion with 30% increase of my annual salary but the tax comes at 570% yo... now in 2011 my salary increase 13% but my tax increase further more to 400%!!! the proportion of annual income to tax amount is not balance at all... the first 35K is 7% and 35k to 50K is 12% which i think should make it lower... mind you, i dont mind paying tax, its my duty, i never fail to pay it but the rate its increasing pinching me in every direction... With the extra $0.74 per taxable $1 AND some cash flow/budget planning, one can go very far leh. I'd love to have the increments in salary/income any day Bottomline (IMHO): Don't grow yr lifeSTYLE as fast as your income and U'll see some sunshine |

QUOTE(lewmoker @ Mar 7 2012, 11:03 AM) totally agree with your quote but mind you i dont say i dont have money to use or my money is shrinking or what not... I feel U bro - same case here my main concern is the proportion of tax over my income is insanely not fair.. and over the years actually i adjusted my lifestyle to lower standard. i use a 10yo wira 1.3, thinking to change but cancelled many time as its not worth it to change new car with the price nowadays. i stay in flat, not a terrace house or condo, away from Klang Valley (in Meru). i bought my sundries from Pasar Besar Klang every 2 weeks (went to the market at 4am every fortnight to get the business rate instead of runcit rate) eat at home every day (my wife's a house wife and she cooks at home) for lunch i ate at nearby food court (estimated RM10 per day including breakfast) use my yamaha lagenda to class every weekend, not car. no fancy PC, use works laptop. its been quite some time since our family holiday and we never go oversea... still i feel the pinch and need to adjust my lifestyle more eh? Added on March 7, 2012, 11:05 amand i forgot to add, company provide shell fleetcard for me to pump petrol so fuel usage is taken out from my expenses However, by about a few more years (7 to 8 for me), the sun should shine brighter (90% probable lar) heheh coz: a. GST - a tax based on consumption, which is fairer to us savers & investors b. Thus, personal income tax SHOULD be lower (ahem ahem) c. Our invested assets should be reaching "critical mass" enough to grow much faster than us just putting $ from net salary & EPF into them Sorry ar mod - a bit of diversion though still touching on income tax (and GST) Added on March 7, 2012, 12:13 pm QUOTE(rayng18 @ Mar 7 2012, 12:03 PM) The tax band have been there for years and it is unfortunate that you just fall into the category where a slight increase in your income will cause you to fall into higher tax band, so try to maximise your income dedutibles and use wisely on your rebates such as the computer rebates as to which year you should claim. In short just do your tax planning wisely. IMHO, a. Personal income tax in M'sia susah nak reduce lar - it's like PURPOSELY spending $1 to save $0.26, unless the item or services really needed/used. Thus far, to me, only SSPN & annuities makes pure monetary sense, since my EPF bombs out life insurance already. b. I'd think having a "side income", say an agent of something or other + rental management, would be better move since we can offset certain expenses to the generation of these income. c. Time for a change? This post has been edited by wongmunkeong: Mar 7 2012, 12:15 PM |

QUOTE(leahcim @ Mar 8 2012, 12:44 AM) hi guys, i'm having some doubt here. i have save rm3k for Skim Simpanan Pendidikan in 2009 and have use it for my 2010 income tax as tax relief. i didn't top up after this. can i still use it for this year income tax, 2011 as tax relief? No U aren't supposed to.U can only claim tax relief on the amount U ADDED (assuming U didn't take out) for the year. IF U took out, the tax relief amount U can claim is as per eg. In 2011 A. Took out $150 B. Then put in $2K B - A = $1,850 claimable as tax relief This post has been edited by wongmunkeong: Mar 8 2012, 01:15 PM |

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Mar 9 2012, 11:18 PM) I know about SSPN. Unfortunately I am not eligible to contribute because I don't have a kid yet. There's an annuities topic/thread in this "Finance, Business and Investment House" talking about Prudential's.What about annuities? Where can I find more information about the annuities that are approved for tax relief? Personally, i've chose to do Uni.Asia's with a long time insurance & mortgage agent of mine. Attached is my own analysis of Uni.Asia's annuity based on the data & info i got from him. Thus far, he's the most honest agent i've come across (and i've come across quite a bit Note: 1. Unzip to Excel 2. Of course U need Excel or the likes to open. U'll need to "Analysis Toolpak" add-in installed to see the %pa compounded as i'm using XIRR function. Please edit/change your tax rate and stuff as needed to ascertain your own possibilities. 3. I'm doing as a sub-class of my total Fixed Income % (Asset Allocation) + the bit on insurance is a bonus. Your mileage may vary. Please do not ask me for other calculations and data for Uni.Asia - i ain't an agent & only know the data variable pertaining to my age & self If U wish, PM me and i can share my agent's contact - thus U can get the variables pertaining to yr age/self from him directly. Woohoo... there is an excess of balance for my 2010 but i have yet to receive the refund despite sending them all documents they requested |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Mar 21 2012, 12:22 PM) Added on March 21, 2012, 12:30 pm There must be some wrong/false declaration or wrong calculation (on your part for submission), that LHDN has taken out from your deduction. Perhaps a fine is included as well. You semua-pun-taruh for deduction ? It is better for you to setup appointment with LHDN to meet them up (call to check and 100% confirm where they going to bring your physical file, unless they 100% computerised everything, which I don't think so yet.) On your part, bring all the past 7 years declaration, receipts, proof, etc. Even if it fades out. Reason such as these will not be accepted: (1) Lost/misplaced - then take out from declaration (2) Don't know how to fill up last time - ok, take out from declaration and get fine. (3) I cheated - kantoi Sometimes, if you can proof to them the deductions are valid, then the re-recalculation may reduce, e.g. from 14k -> 8k-10k Also, negotiate on the fine (if any). You can also negotiate for monthly installment to settle the tax due. Anyhow, cleared liao in that year itself and have a nice clean slate - with this, very fast (comparatively) rebate of extra paid PCB heheh Thus far, LHDN is logical - eg. they sent me a letter asking me to pay dunno what extra every month coz i've got extra income (commissions from Public Mutual + rental) which i dont pay monthly PCB for. However, i proved to them that EVERY YEAR, i still pay too much and reclaim about $3K+/-, even when i declared all commissions and rental. They accepted and did away with the requirement for extra monthly payments. This post has been edited by wongmunkeong: Mar 21 2012, 01:20 PM |

QUOTE(munkeyflo @ Mar 25 2012, 03:05 PM) I have PDF copies of all the e-BE forms and confirmation after I submit it. How come yours don't have? Take it from an IT guy - dont trust computers TOO much I don't print my e-BEs, just keep them in the computer. Waste paper eg. File corruption or media kaput, future application changes does not support old file format, lost media (thumbdrive/HDD/DVD), etc. I myself keep 1 hard copy + 1 softcopy + backup in HDD, thumb & emailed to my own GMail & Yahoo 7 years wor, dont play play This post has been edited by wongmunkeong: Mar 25 2012, 06:57 PM |
