Just use your debit card like a credit card.
I believe most transaction can go through provided you have enough $$$ inside your debit card account.
Yes, 5 star hotels such as northam should be no problem.

i never book hotel online although already went through agoda site for many times..
just little worry about how the deals works..
before this, i just use phone booking..

i see AirAsiaGo offer discount for hotels booking..
but don't have enough knowledge about the process..
just worry when i arrive at the hotel, i will have to pay the real price although already booking at discount price..

Agoda, asiarooms, hotelbooking & few more reputable sites are safe-lah. Been using it for ages. If worry, just VOIP/call & email the hotel a week b4 check-in to reconfirm.

The only thing the hotel normally ask during check-in is the deposit of atleast 1 or 2 days. That's very common practice by most hotels. It's refuindeable, so not really a problem.

There is another dedicated thread on Booking hotel online on those wanna know more how reliable is those online booking sites are. Just use the search function to check that thread.

Thios thread is maintained because TS, is asking on Debit card.

I never use online rooms booking service..
so just little worry about how it works because it's very different from other booking service..
like airasia booking through airasia site straight forward..

what i worry most is the process..
can u explain further about the process after booking online?
must print receipt or any other things?

Yes printing out the voucher sent to you via email is important as the hotel will keep a copy of it. Just show them the agoda/asiaroom & etc voucher during check-in and normally they will asked for 1-2 days deposit (Either cash/ CC) which is refundeable/cancel upon check-out

There is a dedicated thread +poll on those suggested reliable online booking site here:

I only used www.agoda.com before and its quite good, although they charge some service fee (and its quite high) but thats the only way i guess..If the hotel itself doesnt have their own online booking systems.

I used http://www.booking.com loved this website because it allows you to book without the commitment of paying (but they do capture your credit card details as a guarantee for no show) and sometimes they even throw in free cancellation if you cancel about a week before. And its always about $1 to $10 cheaper than other sites.

Those who says agoda.com accepts debit card apparently didn't read their terms and conditions on their website. I've print screen the FAQs for you guys.

"Agoda.com only accepts credit card (Visa, Master Card, AMEX, JCB and Carte Bleue) and PayPal. You are required to fill in your credit card details or log-on to your PayPal account to complete the booking process. Currently, all other methods of payment are not acceptable."

Literally, on the site it says no debit card but as long as your account has enough money, regardless Maybank/CIMB (I've tried these 2), agoda.com will accept them. They'd just charge and block the amount needed to pay them in advance.
