QUOTE(cinbao @ Sep 8 2015, 03:33 PM) PYE 221 Skim Coat is that still need to mix with other compound ? Because the surface apply will "dent " after skim coat dry. Not necessary. What you mean dent after dry?

QUOTE(skng03 @ Jun 2 2011, 09:38 PM) normally painter will use "joint compound" to skim your wall, must avoid to use this at wet/ damp area, see pic below [attachmentid=2250753] plaster ceiling guy use "stopping compound", fast to dry, better bonding & better water resistant than the above. the proper skim coat product is cement base skim coat linkso, choose the right product for the right place Sorry to revive an old thread. My place had the plaster peeling off walls because of some water damage. May I ask which material is more suitbale to redo the skim coat? Stopping compound or the skim coat product like the PYE one?

QUOTE(subaiku @ Feb 20 2020, 12:34 PM) Sorry to revive an old thread. My place had the plaster peeling off walls because of some water damage. May I ask which material is more suitbale to redo the skim coat? Stopping compound or the skim coat product like the PYE one? Stopping compound or joint compound. After fixing your water leakage make sure the wall is dry and I would recommend joint compound if you going to DIY, as it is ready-mixed with good workability and less powdery when dried for you to apply finishing imo.
