yes, android apps are written in Java, if not mistaken just that the VM (Dalvik VM) and API not same thus can apply to android device. Java is portable.. BTW u can try google for Java ebook.. quite a lot on the web..

Javascript and Java is totally different things.
Javascript cannot run on its own. Java can be a stand alone application.

Btw, those who truly want to learn Android programming require the knowledge of Type Inference.

You know how to declare variable, but now...you need to know what is Type Inference...

Map<String, List<String>> myMap = new HashMap<String, List<String>>();

CODE

   public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
       super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
       setContentView(R.layout.main);

       GridView gridview = (GridView) findViewById(R.id.gridview);
       gridview.setAdapter(new ImageAdapter(this));

       gridview.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() {
           public void onItemClick([COLOR=blue]AdapterView<?> parent[/COLOR], View v, int position, long id) {
               Toast.makeText(HelloGridView.this, "" + position, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
           }
       });
   }

Erm, I mean a full program, not simple one e.g. Data entry program... Dont quite understand how to transfer variables to another working module but in JAVA, it seem much easier. Now all already forgot, hahaha...

All those ppl who say they know C but not java should really consider going for iOS development instead, sicne it's definitely easier for you guys to pick up Objective C than to pick up Java and then to learn about the slight differences between real Java vs the Dalvik VM that just uses Java syntax.

It's really great that you're offering training! Unfortunately I already read about the topics you going to teach on the online android tutorial. Would you go into how to set up Ads and things related to publishing to the Market?

Also.. Oracle is suing Google in a huge lawsuit that might change how Android is used. Depending on the outcome, changes to Dalvik VM might change most of the things in Android.

In any case, online would be a good choice as well as someone suggested. I don't mind joining for an online session even though i've dabble in android up to getting my own mini contact book lol.

What's with the hostility, all i was implying was that i would join "future" online class if there was, with more intermediate lessons perhaps.. sesh. I said "dabble" means informal, didn't claim i'm expert.

Oh well..my apologise if that offended you or something lol.
