QUOTE(Ilianas_Toy @ May 31 2011, 07:24 PM) anyone kind enough to make a guide on how to catch the person who steals our wifi and and take their info so i can know there whereabouts? http://ettercap.sourceforge.net/monitor your home network and capture packets sent. The security is based on your router strength, to capture more packets make sure you set your connection to open. Please use the information wisely, dont commit crimes with it ok

remember that the people who access your home network can do the same.
there are other fun things you can do like idiocy (hijacks twitter accounts) firesheep (allows you to use session cookies for own purposes, as long as they are logged in)
an alternative to ettercap is wireshark, formerly known as ethereal.

QUOTE(PrincZe @ May 31 2011, 08:13 PM) capture packet sent?i thought only certain device can do that? it's being sent over your personal LAN, why wouldn't you be able to intercept the data? What you are thinking off is to intercept a packet sent on another network.

QUOTE(Ilianas_Toy @ May 31 2011, 08:22 PM) I think u better edit before other forumers get the wrong idea, i think ill stick with blocking mac addresses and changing to wpa and leave it as it be. Informational thread that has become dangerous. Information is for sharing. What you can see is also available freely on the web. If you keep knowledge to yourself, when you need a solution, nobody will know there is a problem to begin with.

the point is not what you can break.
the point is what people can do to you once you broke into their system.
if you assume someone is stupid enough to leave their wireless network unsecured, think again.
