well there are many many ways to know.

even if they dont take legal action, they might be simply let you access and who knows they have been sniffing your packets all this while and see wht u see, hear wht u hear

if you have a WIFI access point, maybe do these below at least..

1. use WPA2 security (not wep or WPA)
2. do not publish your SSID
3. control MAC access

all these can be break ofcoz, nothing is unbreakable.. but at least you put up a good defense
