Guys,

Anyone here know how to change the DNS setting for Lion OS @ Mac?
Before this, i use win 7. oni recently change to Mac Mini.
I appreciate if someone can share the setting to change our DNS setting to enable MU or FS

Same with me.. streamyx 4mbps student pack. I've tried using google dns..nothing change. Yesterday i subscribed to bolehvpn thinking that using vpn service can bypass tm's traffic shaping...but no use la...my downloads are still throttled. Damn it la TM ! I'm really pissed this time !

VPN Fails!

I've move to Unifi. I realize now having the fastest internet speed in malaysia is useless. Connections to international sites are always slow. We malaysians only have the fastest and most expensive INTRANET in the whole world.

have you try open-dns ?? may be faster

are you sure ? cause i using same package with u but i can download from MU or filesonic damn syiok

Wow you're so lucky. Can you tell us your IP range and gateway IP that you're connected to?
You can find it by logging on to your modem web config page

Also please provide us some speed test results using Speedtest.net to LA server and HK server.

Time is 5.48pm

Speeds are varying wildly depending on filehoster..

Surprisingly RS seems to get the best results for me right now.. and thats using the free service... capped at the top (438kBps) right now...

MU, FS and Fsc are random and pretty much luck of the draw

i am on 4mb package w/ google dns. using mu, speed still fast.

your prob becuz of student package?

i am also downloading very slow.... 15 kbps wtf is unifi doing.. it was good before this using google dns...

omigod, seems like streamyx started blocking some file sharing forums as well. FDzone.org is not accessible here, while able to access with proxy.

3 years from now, we'll be like china...

edit: oops.. my 1mbit fren can... me can't even ping.... WTH?

I am unifi user and I use google open dns but I still cant access Megauploads. How do i do this? I change it to open DNS using the D-Link operator page. PLEASE HELP..

It works now but the DL is so freaking slow........ Think will need to revert back the setting when not downloading from megauploads. Sigh!! Or anyone have better idea how to solve this?

go to System Preferences -> Network -> AirPort (I assume you are on Wifi) -> Advanced.. -> Click at DNS tab, then click "+" sign to add the DNS address.

i think you already figure it out.

Filesonic/Fileserve its somehow acceptable for its speed.

Thanks for your reply. The DL Speed has become slower overall after I apply the openDNS. Not only on Megauploads. Before I apply the setting, the DL speed is quite ok but it somehow slowed down. Is this suppose to be the case? Or I need to apply any other setting?

I cant really help on this. Anyway, the speed somehow rely on which openDNS server you are connected perhaps? Maybe you can try using without it and use other public DNS, e.g. Google DNS. If its still slow, it should be ISP as the culprit.

damn... my filesonic premium account on streamyx have problem again!!!! it started from 12a.m just now!!!! I've asked my friend on unifi...he don't have problem for filesonic premiun account on unifi...download speed still o.k!

I thought that I had reached the free user download limit so I restart my browse and download manager.. and my connection..
but still... I can't download any link provided from Filesonic..

I tried different link such as megaupload which is widely available most of the time..

MegaUpload staffs are under arrest. Filesonic..wupload..and others chose to disable file sharing functionality to save their lives. Imagine a file hosting service only allows the uploader to download their own files. I wonder how long they last without people using and purchasing premium accounts.
