Just wanna ask anyone here caught virus while using free antivirus like avast, avira??
If those free antivirus could protect us, why there are still people buying paid version?

Of course I understand there is more feature in paid version. Does that mean my pc is more vulnerable than those paid version?

Sometime I do think that those extra stuff might not be needed as my laptop has nothing special to be hacked. Not like the bank server.

vulnerable as in what? it can be vulnerable in hacking, vulnerable in virus.. if u know that u don't need extra features like firewall, then those free version is good enough. some paid version also offer more than just scanning out virus, they scan rockits too

Actually I am finding answer on, is it necessary for home consumer to buy paid version Antivirus while there is plenty of free one to use.
Is the free one provide sufficient protection to home user? I know paid stuff is good, extra feature , but do we need it?
Or to the end, it's about somebody feeling or perception that they might not be protected unless they pay something to protect them. So it might be just market scam that paid anti virus will not give extra protection.

May be I could put another metaphor, it's like wearing bullet proof vest everyday on the street.
