I wonder who are the targeted market for? It's supposed to be a replacement for N900? If so, this device strays far away from N900 users expectation... First off, no hardware keyboard, it's a big turn off. The specs looks dated, and by the time it's actually launch, I wonder what's the common/general specs in the market.

Anyway, the MeeGo is not the actual MeeGo, it's actually a Maemo6/Harmattan, hence MeeGo Harmattan. It's said to be MeeGo "compatible"; From the technical/developer side, Harmatten uses the same packaging system as Maemo (deb), while MeeGo uses rpm packaging system (Linux users should be familiar with this).

No hardware keyboard is the biggest disappointment. But I heard the developers version will have physical keyboard.
Specs looks alright.I kinda expected single core since Nokia always used TI's processors before this & TI's 4XXX's was just launced.
I'm not worried about the CPU.Even with the dated Cortex A8 CPU in N900 we managed to rock it so far with minor issue haven't we?
We'll know more once someone from Maemo Talk managed to get the phone.

The resolution is good liao, better than my SGS.  biggrin.gif
You still have your brick N900 ma? Now I can live without keyboard after using touch-based phone for so long. Looking on the UI, it's for mass consumer, bit geeky than android user though. For a girl, maybe it's not for them.  whistling.gif

Agree, good browser and good camera = win for me

For those who type long stuff (like Andy) it's better to have physical keyboard.
Certainly UI is suited for mass consumer.

Just add in Angry Birds it'll be sold.

No N9's camera photo sample so far?

That's really slick. Must be a pain to implement.

Really love this new swiping UI. Please please please Nokia keep using MeeGo.

That a no go from Stephen Elop.

Plus a good mapping solution. Something that is going to be addressed with the awesome Nokia Maps.

Its a pity tho that the widgetized homescreen that Maemo users already accustomed to wasn't available here. Instead, we got an WP7-esque interface, with Notifications panel, Main Menu panel and Multitasking Panel.
*
Rather surprised that N9 has full Maps.N900 don't have turn to turn navigation till the community provided patch for it recently.

For hardcore Maemo users this interface does come as disappointment but this is what majority of regular users want.In a way it's good that Nokia listen to what people want.
Well...at least the multitask panel is live panel.Still does have some similarities as Maemo 5.

Yup, that's what I meant. strays too much; Unless this wasn't meant for N900 replacement, but a refined N8; hahaha; Probably from marketing point of view, they want to target more users (forgetting their tablet category users),... or too much influence from the fruit company.

Well... let's see what device they will come up with from another OS which currently bears the fruit codename.
*
Number of sale will be important on how Nokia will pursue the UI updates.
TelefonSaya got wall of icons.watching it x9000 will make you bored. At least N9's 3 homescreens are colourfull.

I think enough of N9's discussion here.Come discuss @ N9 thread.

I'll say 1 thing : iPhone4 camera is crap
You can see from bunch of pictures in this thread to see that N8's camera is excellent.

It's recommended to use QT SDK 1.1 if you want to develop any application for QT based device (Symbian,Maemo,MeeGo)
As far as I know QT SDK combines creation of UI & programming all in 1 package. So the coding & UI in same time.
Maybe you boss will ask you to design the UI while asking others to do the coding.
