After reading this thread, I'm really tempted to buy X5 as my first Android phone. Basically, main purpose of the phone is to install some medical dictionaries and GPS.

Appreciate if you can answer some of my queries.
(1) I chose X5 over other bcoz of 480x800 resolution. If the medical software is optimized for Android 3.0 (such as this http://www.mobisystems.com/android/dorland...-features.html), can I install or view it correctly on this screen resolution?

(2) The above software has a list of compatible device but X5 (U8800) is not listed. The listed Huawei model are:
Huawei SmaKit S7
Huawei T-Mobile Pulse
Huawei T-Mobile Pulse Mini
Huawei U8230
Huawei v845

Do you think the software is compatible with X5?

(3) Which GPS work best on X5 without lag/ hang? Papago/ Sygic etc. Garmin Mobile XT on my Nokia N82 is quite lagging.

If I buy X5 to test the software above and if CANNOT support/ install, then waste my money on X5.....However, the sodtware is based on MSDict format. I don't know what exactly is MSDict format but I've seen some of you have installed this kind of software. Hopefully the medical dictionaries that I want to use can be supported by X5.

how about wifi problem, read about it. Is it easy to solve?

I'm interested to try custom ROM too after I buy x5. But as a newbie, it's quite hard to decide which rom is most stable and fast and battery saving. I think experienced user should guide us on the best custom ROM to start with.

Since some of us (including me) still need convincing from the forum users to buy X5. Let me share my doubts and 'cons' after reading X5 related forum for whole day. If the doubts are cleared, I think I'll be convinced.

1) 华为U8800（X5）的RAM内存为512MB。至于不少新手小白反映的“用《智能统计》检测，发现华为U8800显示内存的总大小只有353MB，其中，已用223MB，可用130MB”的问题，其实很简单，这说明开机后一共有大约159MB RAM被机器运行系统和用户界面调用。(Don't quite understand what it meant)

2) Is the screen easily scratched? Does it come with Gorilla glass?

3)Wifi drop problem (already discussed earlier post)

4) Video recording jerky 720p but 17fps only, not the usual 30fps. (this limitation doesn't bother me)

5) Third party headphone may not work well on X5

6) read somewhere that app2sd doesn't work on certain ROM. This bother me because I plan to install huge collection of dictionaries which takes up lots of space.

7) can't think of any ....

Is there any custom ROM/ applications that allow an option to choose installation destination?

got an offer :- Ori set X5 @ RM829, free screen protector, pouch bag, car charger, car holder. Worth or not?

but no hard/ soft case. Any recommendation? price ?

Just came back from Jason/ Moon shop with my Huawei X5.

Jason installed some games and Sygic GPS for me. Now checking available space
Internal SD: 1.52GB available
Temporary phone storage: 459MB

Can anyone guide me HOW to know how many applications I'm running because after I click 'BACK' button. I don't know whether the applications has hut down.

stupid question again. If want to save mp3 to internal SD card using USB connection. How?

Can I simply create a folder "MP3" and put the songs in?
After that, the music player will automatically search for them?

After I bluetooth stuff to my phone, all files stayed in "Bluetooth folder". Is there any software that can be used to cut and paste these files to my desired destination (SC card) just like Windows Explorer.

I cannot tahan all files all over the place! Recommend me an application, please.

Hey all Huawei X5 users, since I bought it, I kept installing things now my MMC card almost full already. Plan to buy a 16GB microSD card.

can you recommend me the 16G microSD card <brand name>, <class> & <price you bought>. Thanks.

'We're sorry. the IMEI no. you have entered is invalid. Please try again.'

What happen? My unit is not original?

I just insert my celcom 3G simcard to my phone.
Go to contact and select import contacts (import from SIM card) but after completed the process. My contact is still empty.

Strange enough, when I call my sister, her name showed on the Call log & favorites BUT not in the contacts.

Pls help me.

I tried diffeent method but still failed

I deleted all contacts in my simcard using old phone then insert into X5, then I copy all contact files (vcf) from old phone to X5 SD card. Import and scan the card, I can SEE all the contact. But after finish importing, the Contacts is still empty.

Help me again! when the sim card and contact is working. I saw 3G (and up & down arrow), which mean the data is downloading, and I'm seeing the weather & news info keep updating. BUT I DONT APPLY ANY DATA PLAN YET. Alamak......I let it run for 20 over minutes.... next month my bill will shock me to death. Now I just switch to flight mode.

What running applications I should set to disable all data usage?

Unfortunately, my modem don't have WIFI, I can't download droidwall.

Now I'm checking the "running services" and saw the GOOGLE SHITs are trying to use data. I belive Google Messaging Services, Hi Space BatchUpdateService & DownloadService; VpnServiceBinder are all trying to update.....Alamak.... first time use Google Android phone is really scary without data plan.

need guidance regarding internal SD card.

Why I bought X5, the seller installed Sygic for me. Because of some issues, I did a factory reset. I found that Sygic is no longer found in my program list, but the internal SD card still has an 'Aura' folder about 280MB.

I feel that my internal SD card is very messy after installing lots of stuffs. I notice that some folders may contain system files. If I format the internal card before a factory reset, will these system folder be created automatically? I want to make it truly clean.
