We need a central midfielder with strong presence on both defending and attacking. We seriously lack of that figure to compose for attack, whereas they have 3-4 midfielder just queue-ing up to shoot for fun. Haih...

QUOTE(Pain_X @ May 29 2011, 05:03 AM) Duuuude,Shebby may say some ignorant sh*t sometimes, but that fat bald scouse pr*ck is THE WORST 'pundit' ive ever seen. Everything he says is with a bloody cocky tone and ive reached the point where i just change the channel the moment the host asks him any Man Utd related questions. The most biased and unprofessional opinions come out of his pie hole. +100Do you think we can gather the entire SEA fans to vote his bloody face out of the broadcast?? |

From the moment I saw they wear white and not red, that already was a bad sign... Why we can't wear red when we are playing in England, our home soil?

I think the players only have themselves to blame for the poor performance. They were all being conservative in attack, and only react after the opponent scored a goal. That kinda counter-attack mentality won't work everytime especially we are not playing at Old Trafford. They should control the tempo more and get more possession instead of giving away all the cheap long balls.
When I saw the stat that Barcelona had completed 265 passes compare to the 100 passes we did, that tells the whole story. Mentality wise we are not strong enough to have confidence to play the game in full capability. The lads had no one to look up to in the team that can deliver something out of nothing. Credit to Barcelona. They have so many world cup winners in the squad who didn't seem to being affected by the atmosphere nor the tensions. |

QUOTE(odieseven @ May 29 2011, 11:48 AM) What I noticed from last night: +2Positives 1) We have a tremendous prospect in the twins 2) Rooney showing his class. 3) How lucky we are to have Vidic. 4) Chicha's heartbreak was the most evident from the lot. I know it would only make him stronger. 5) Nothing wrong with tactics 6) The game shows evidently what we are lacking & I'm sure SAF knows what to do next Negatives 1) Beating Barca needs a perfect performance as mistakes do not go unpunished 2) Evra needs a good 'rest' just like what Nani & Rooney did before they regained their form. 3) A great CM is obviously the missing link. 4) Rio outpaced easily 5) Park has only 2 lungs after all 6) Valencia's anxiety is his greatest enemy 7) World class players do make the difference when it matters most I acknowledge Valencia's contribution throughout the season but yesterday he really was non-existent on the pitch. The slot should be given to Nani or even Scholes, just to field a stronger midfield. Heck, maybe we should even start with 4-5-1 to stop their passing game. There's no point for tactic when you don't even have the ball. And yeah, I think world class players not only possess the skills and techniques to win games, but they ALWAYS play to their maximum capabilities with the team even on the biggest stage of world football. Sadly we didn't see much of that on our team last night. |

Suddenly I was wondering why we didn't deploy Anderson into the midfield to make it 4-5-1. He can do some hard tackling and break the free flow passing of Barcelona, not to mention his daring attitude that could fire up the courage to face the opponents. I didn't see any spark among the players, probably they were afraid of the easy-fall-down scheme of the Spaniards?

Well the positive aspect after the 2nd final set back would be the importance of recruiting central midfielders. And I mean a good one. We were clearly outplayed in that aspect and in need of a influential figure to command the game for us. Not just for the sake of challenging Barca again, but to maintain the Premier league trophy too!

I think it's time for people like Anderson to step up and play more game. Be realistic, it's not easy to simply pry away other clubs' valued midfielder just because we wanna challenge Barcelona.
Anyhow I have this feeling that the newcomer will be from Premier league. |

QUOTE(Wan @ Jun 13 2011, 05:49 PM) I think we need to go Spanish finding that CM. Comfortable on the ball, good passer, but don't have to be an AM/DM. As we saw with Barca, none of their 3 CMs are what you call a pure DM, but we hardly trouble them. They showed us we don't have to go tackling everything in sight or rough teams up. They just work hard at closing spaces and defending as a team. And all of them are comfortable on the ball. Even if our players close them down, they always can find space to turn around and make a pass. Why oh why Hargreaves and Fletcher not available/fit enough at the same time twice now in different finals! Arrghh. Would have been interesting to see how SAF would have played if we got at least one of those guys fit and in form. Nobody else better at pressing aside from those two in the middle. Like +1 I wonder who we are targeting. I wish we know what SAF is thinking right now because honestly outside of Wilshere, Fabregas, those guys at Barca, not sure anybody else fits the description, aside from Modric probably. Sneijder got question mark in whether he would excel playing centrally having to defend as well. If he can do that, he'll be perfect. Look at how many strong DM Madrid has? Yet, the Barca midfielders which compliments each other had successfully torn them apart, not once, not twice, but few occasions. Their passing game is just too hard to catch and easily drain up all the energy which leads to Barca always controlling the game with their tempo. Then, one spontaneous pass that leads to a Messi's goal. We definitely need a CM who is comfortable with the ball and can compose for attack. We always missed that space in the middle to feed the strikers. Other teams probably know that all the chances will be delivered from the sides since we lack the central force. We really need 1 or 2 CM to fill that gap! |

QUOTE PHIL JONES has completed his £16.5million move from Blackburn to Manchester United after signing a five-year deal United thought they had secured Jones' services last week, only for the transfer to hit an unforeseen snag. Blackburn had been holding out for more cash after Liverpool had jumped in with a cheeky £22million offer. But Jones, who featured for England Under-21's in their opening European Championship match against Spain in Denmark last night, told Rovers he did not wish to join any other club than United. And with the Red Devils refusing to budge beyond the amount that triggered the buyout clause in the 19-year-old's contract, Blackburn have been forced to agree a sale. A United statement said: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones. "The player passed a medical in Manchester last week and has agreed a five-year contract. "The deal will be completed once the player returns from international duty." SOS I'm starting to like him already. |
