I have a question or two for all fellow Arc-ians:-

1. I think the design of the Arc is one of the main reasons people gettings this phone (yes and the humongous screen too), but I have been hearing stories of the silver coating round the side of the phone peeling. Anyone
having this kind of problems?

2. Anyone experiencing slowness with the low 512MB RAM?

1. A lil chip because of cheapstake casing.. (never use hard plastic type okay)

2. Use Advance Task Killer, kill everything, then it's back to normal..

Y U ALL USE PROTECTIVE CASING!? shocking.gif
I mean, why cover up all that beautiful and sleek design? tongue.gif

Well it looks like the peeling is a common thing (are you guys actually okay with this!?). As for the
memory management, so far from most feedback, with rooting and Advance Task Killer, I think I should
be able to keep the Arc functioning smoothly. Okay will get the Arc S, unless somebody recommends something else.

Another question though, why would anyone NOT want to root?

Edit #1:

1. You mean the chrome part? I bought my Arc the moment it was launched in M'sia n nope, i do not have that problem. But I had a case on after 1 week of use. But the chrome keys are all in perfect condition

2. slowness is subjective... it also depends on how many apps u installed that run in the background and also widgets on the screen e.g. Viber, Watsapp, Facebook, etc etc For me with FB, Viber, Watsapp and 8 widgets on the screens does give me a little slowdown at time... but nothing unbearable.
With that many apps in the background, I guess it's safe to say 512MB is sufficient (coupled with good memory management biggrin.gif).

Thanks the the input Arc-ians!

Now I've dump that plastic casing let my Arc be naked and sexy.. nod.gif

Thinking of applying the full body protective sticker next..
Maybe after I had myself a new set of Arc S housing.. brows.gif

How much would a decent quality housing cost for an Arc S? Maybe give me a few pics or linky? smile.gif

Putting on full-body protective sticker would change the texture of the phone, won't feel the same le

Looks like the protective metal bumpers I put on my Tamiya last time. The price just offsets all that beauty...

By the way could someone tell me where exactly I should look in the *#*#7378423#*#* option to match with the serial-number on the box to see if it was an original SE distributed by Dynamics?

Anyone here rooted their 2.3.4 Arc using DoomLord's method? Looks pretty solid since he has also provided an un-rooting script if anyone decides to.

This is the link I was talking about:-
xda-forum - DoomLord's 2.3.4 Root Method

Another link (talking about the above method but more comprehensive IMO):-
addictivetips - Root Xperia Arc

Just thought I'd share it with you guys. Just got my Arc (no S) yesterday smile.gif

If i use this method to root my arc, do i need to install xRecovery,Flashtool?
*
Used DoomLord's method on my stock Arc after updating it to 2.3.4 42 using PC Companion, so no, I don't think Flashtool or xRecovery is required (adb drivers bundled with the .zip file you download from the xda-forum links I linked).

Btw I have a question about SE original warranty. Apparently my 4.3" LCD screen is separating slightly from the phone body, allowing some dust and dirt to enter sad.gif. Could be due to contact between my Arc and my house keys in pocket.

My question is, if I would to bring this problem to Dynamics distributor (where my phone is bought from), would they handle this? How long would it usually take?

I don't deal much with phone warranties and thus very little experience in this sad.gif

try to email sony ericsson first then see how..if you go to the distributor they will tell you go back not cover under warranty..happen to me because i have a dead pixel on my screen..so i email sony first then sony told me to go to the distributor to claim, i did a print out of the conversation to show the distributor then only they accept it..and now is change to a new screen..
*
Thanks, I can't seem to find that darn support page. How long did it take for them to change a new screen for you?

So how to install custom rom without Flashtool, xRecovery?
*
I wouldn't suggest installing custom rom if you decide to first root your phone using DoomLord's method because if any need arises, you might have to unroot via his method as well. I fear custom roms might interfere with the unrooting.

But to answer your question, yes, you need Flashtool to install xRecovery and custom ROM on your Android. For further information, refer to:-
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/root-f...shtool-android/

xda-forums are a good source of information related to Android development too. Refer there often smile.gif

I just hope the Arc or Arc S can take the ICS update smoothly. The internal storage size for the Arc/S have never been impressive anyway. blush.gif Makes me wonder how are they gonna be able to squeeze ICS in.
