Frankly speaking, I think if one have the time, you can really explore Keelung as there are quite a number of hidden charms of it... But if you do not have the time, then can skip it...

When I went to Taiwan, i did Jiufen, Jinguashih and Keelung Night Market on 1 day, and stayed overnight at Jiufen... The second day proceed to Yehliu... I really like Yehliu, I can walk there for hours, it's such a nice place (given its not raining)... And I really recommend the Gold Ecological Park in Jinguashih, I think its very interesting to learn about gold mining and panning... Other than that, I think there's nothing much there...

Anyone went to Taiwan during July before? Planning to go to Taiwan this coming July, read that it might be a very hot & humid month, somewhat similar to Malaysia... Is it a nice month to go? Any feedbacks?

Hi to all forumers… Would like to request for some assistance to review my itinerary to Taiwan this coming July… This would be my 2nd time to Taiwan; 1st time I have covered much of Taipei and the outskirts… So this time I will be venturing out of Taipei… So my trip will be from 2nd – 13th July…

2nd July - 4th July
ETA Taoyuan 2.45pm
Take HSR to Taichung

5th July
Take HSR to Chiayi; then to Alishan

6th July
Alishan – sunrise tour
Then get a hired cab, head to Cingjing with a side trip to Sun Moon Lake

7th July
Cingjing

8th July
Head to Hualien with Taroko tour

9th July
Hualien - plan for whale & dolphin watching tour

10th July - 13th July
Taipei

That's my plan so far for this trip... Still needs some fine-tuning to it... Any opinions by forumers? Thanks! smile.gif

I think you need to leave Chingjing very early to do this. ChingJing to Hualien need at least 3 hours. After all the snake road.. I dont think i can go to taroko anymore.. Taroko tour usually start at 9am.
Why not stop at Juifen after Hualien. The gold mine is interesting place. Cover yeh lui too if you have not been there.

After some reconsideration, I've made some changes to my planned itinerary and now it looks like this...

Day 1 - Day 3 => Taichung

Day 4 => Alishan

Day 5 & 6 => Sun Moon Lake & Cingjing

Day 7 - Day 12 => Taipei (+ day trip to Taroko gorge)

How about this schedule? Any comments?

I would like to ask if it is better to make a day trip to Taroko gorge from Taipei or go there direct from Cingjing?

Was thinking giving Kaoshiung & Hualien a miss this time in view of budget, time constrain & transport issue... Will I miss anything exciting?

Experience wise; Hualien, Taichung or Kaoshiung is more fun? I'm more of a scenery kind of person...

Anyone knows what are the freebies offered by the Malaysia Taiwan Visitor's Association currently?

I remembered we can mail our flight tickets to them & in return they'll give us some freebies and brochures in return...

Hi... Want to ask it is still better to convert to US$ first before converting to NT$ at the airport in Taoyuan or exchange to NT$ straight away in Malaysia?

I have roughly NT$ 700 with me... I was thinking would it be better for me to withdraw NT$ using ATM in Taiwan? The exchange rate for US$ or NT$ is really not favorable in my town... =(

2 QUERIES FOR FORUMERS...

QUERY 1

http://www.agan.com.tw/smlroute/eng/unit1.htm

http://www.agan.com.tw/smlroute/eng/unit2.htm

Wanted to ask whether if this bus is still in operation?

From the map, it will stop at the paper dome, Puli... Is there any other way if I want to visit the Paper Dome only before heading to SML?

How can I get to SML from the paper dome?

QUERY 2

I'm planning to explore the Golden Fulong Line next week... Have some questions to ask forumers here...

1. Is the promotion package still available?

www.gold-fulong.com.tw/en/recommend.aspx

Really interested with Package B... How can I purchase the package?

2. I wanted to visit the Yin Yang Sea and 13 level refining plant near Shuinandong; is it within walking distance after I stopped at Shuinandong?

3. If I stop at Bitou, I wanted to visit the Nanya rocks, is it also within walking distance? Or are there any different buses to take to visit these locations?

Thank you very much!!
