Really ... cheaper if buy winter cloth there?

I'm going on 5th Jan, my friend said this year is a warm winter... now only 20'c~ keep constant check ur iphone for the weather.. i do that.. so that i can estimate the cloths..

if drop around 15'c consider bring winter cloths, 20'c just like cameron, long slevees or jacket shld be enough..

I'm going to Gao Xiong, Tai nan, Tai Zhong, Re Yue Tan and lastly Taipei for 8 days.. still planning thou~ any recommendation?

QUOTE(zstan @ Dec 14 2012, 06:51 PM)
more or less the same stuff...jiu fen is not exactly a night market.. can see the night scenery if you are free.. shilin more on to food as there's a dedicated food court underground.. shopping can be quite unpleasant with all the crowd squeezing around.. yeh liu is not a night market @@.. feng jia have unique foods and the things are slightly cheaper than taipei..
that seems very rushed. what kind of recommendations do you want?
*
We decided to shorten it to only Taizong, sun moon lake, and taipei and 清境~

recommendation would be nice like attraction place, food, and any hotel to those place.. coz we haven't settle hotel yet as we have not confirm which stop to land first..

our schedule is arrive at 11pm 5th jan 2013, then might take train/ bus to tai zhong till morning, then settle in hotel and start our tour.

Tai zhong > Sun Moon Lake > Taipei

2 days > 1 day > 4 days

Our problem is on Tai zhong only.. coz not sure tai zhong got what to play.. some genius friends of mine ask me spend 8 days all on taipei.. == rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

edit: wow your blog is full of information!!! smile.gif i'm gonna read all of it.. haha but do recommend and spoonfeed me as well... smile.gif

any hotel recommend for me to stay??

we arrive at 5th Jan 2013 11pm in TaoYuan Airport, any hotel recommendation to stay for a night?

next day we head to tai chung and spend a night there, then we go qing jing and stay another night.

4th day will be at taipei - is it worth to just stay one hotel at taipei and travel around? or change hotel based on the location we travel??
we are going these places

if want travel to 太鲁阁? where should I stay?? or just move from jing qing to 太鲁阁 then back jing qing? or just str8 move to taipei?

CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME WITH THE YOUTH TRAVEL CARD?

WHERE CAN APPLY?

IS IT GOT LIMIT OF THE CARDS?

CAN APPLY ONLINE

TQVM
*
You can apply online or apply it on the spot in the taiwan's air port.. Not sure the limit but inside got ntd 100 when apply.
If apply online you need to wait them to approve, if apply on the spot, make sure you are not late as the booth closed on 11pm I think.. I didn't apply it because I arrive in taoyuan around 12am due to delay.. cry.gif

i use cc to withdraw money there. withdraw NT$10k. rate is 10.4xx. need pay rm2 for cirrus fee and another rm50 for cc cash withdraw charges
this taxi is damn cheap! i get cab arrange from hotel for NT$1200
distance from taipei main station to taoyuan sad.gif
credit card rate is good there. i use to pay my hotel and train tickets. i get around 10.2xx rate which is good to me
*
the credit card rate is good.. best is either withdraw money from ATM, or use cc... RM doesn't trade very good in Taiwan, unless you bring along USD.. ATM machine can be found in all 7-11 and family mart.. and 7-11 and family mart can be found in anywhere~ I miss their 7-11 and family mart.. staff is so young and friendly.. haha food is good too~

outskirt area like hualien and cingjing can get below 20degree
*
I went during winter... 12-24 is taoyuan.. very chilly and windy~ that day we arrive is 12-24 according to the airport weather board..
jiufen is damn chilly because of rain, local told me there edi rain for 8 days.. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
cingjing around 20+ because that day's weather is superb!

Hi all,
I will be travelling to Taiwan this coming August from 27 till Sept 3 with my gf. Planning to visit Taipei and the area surrounding it plus Hualian and Koaushiong.

Any recommendation on transportation? Would it be wise to travel via train or mrt since it is only two of us.
*
depends where you want to visit.. if you want to visit mountain and such.. best to have a local driver to bring you there because some place public transport can't be reached.. mind to list out where you want to visit? so we can easily guide you.. smile.gif

hey... KL/Selangor ppl. u guys go where change $$$?
these few days rate is 10.55.
got better place to recommend?

and also...
for 10days trip, need bring about how much $$$ to spend? i think i wont be buy lots of thing. just on food and a-4-day public transportation.
*
if the hotel and transportation is excluded... around NTD10,000 is enough...
I was on 8 days trip, used around NTD10k with decent amount of purchase.. rclxms.gif bring more is better than less thou.. over budget always better than under budget. Nevertheless, you can ATM it out if you lack of cash, just calculate properly as per transaction there is a charge.. quite expensive, but forgot how much.. have fun in your trip in Taiwan! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

not sure about money changer, I use company exchange one as my dad got deal with taiwan company.. smile.gif I'm pretty sure I got better rate that time..

like to ask all sifu, how do i travel to circle island in clockwise direction? TP > east coast > west coast > TP. what are the cheapest modes of transport ?
*
best is by their bullet train aka 高铁... I do not recommend circle Taiwan as it consume alot of time... unless you travel more than 2 weeks, I strongly suggest travel only 2 parts of taiwan, such as either taipei and taichong or taichong and tainan, etc...

Hi, sorry if this was ever asked before, but I still haven't found any satisfying answer. I'll be going there end of this month for a month, and I decided to not bring cash, but bring debit card instead. Which card works best over there?
*
any card with visa and mpeg cash... so you can withdraw money or swipe card... I uses HSBC CC and PB debit during my time in taiwan..

I have Maybank debit card (MasterCard Platinum Debit) and OCBC Malaysia ATM Card, can use both?
*
sry is MPES cash.. I think can as long as your card got Plus and MPES cash and visa... you can check these behind your card.. as for ATM remember to enable overseas withdraw..

Yep, thanks for the advice. I've checked both Maybank and OCBC can be used in PLUS and Cirrus networks, and the fee is the same (RM12/transaction).
