I just got back from taiwan. Wah the people there so polite, even you just browsing and don't buy anything they still say thank you to you.

I really recommend using a driver, actually got one good one for taipei area. Highly recommended!! Rm320 for one day (no fixed hours like other drivers eg 8hr, 10hr etc).

I managed to arrange 2day itinerary into 1, and also this driver took me to many different places . Went jiufeng, a historical war memorial site, old gold mining town, dansui, king kong rock/mountain, pingsi, shifeng, and at the end took a cable car trip and visited night market.

He is an old uncle, look like gangster but very honest and will tell you which shops to go take a look and see (eg when go jiufeng, he will ask if you be more careful, as they are criminals about..the black skin ones.i duno la, he say one..im thinking maybe those nigerian or wat)

Actually I caught a really bad cold when I was up at yangmishan, and this driver took me to his local doctor (who was a malaysian doctor practicing in taiwan). The driver use his health card so i got a cheaper rate for all my medication (around twd150 or rm15).

Anyway, taichung was great, nice n sunny. paperdome, puli king garden was a waste of time. And while I was in taipei, it rained alot..kinda depressing. I stayed in ximending so when I get back via mrt, my supper is Ah Zhong mee sua =) My gf came and bought alot of clothing, esp winter cloth. The only thing I bought from taiwan was a handphone.

Actually this uncle driver was only in taipei. The taichung one, I used another driver (RM300 for 8 hours). And yeah, he was really like a driver, you can see many of this drivers (they usually have a black camry or toyota).  Compare to the uncle, the uncle is a tourist guide n driver in one...while the driver just drives..and nothing much more than that.

yes, still did see the sun moon lake, puli king garden, paperdome (both were disappointment), etc. Actually the only highlight of my taichung trip was fenjia nightmarket.

Just came back from my 10 days trip with hubby.  Though its the 1st time I went there & my Chinese sucks, I enjoyed every moment of it. Taiwanese are very nice & friendly. Transportation & facilities are great too. Love the food & cheap clothes, shoes.
Went to taipei's popular places like beitou, danshui, jiufen, yehliu, wufenpu, ximending, Taipei 101, CKS memorial hall, Shinkong, longshan temple, Zhongxiao Fuxing areas, din tai fung.
Also booked a cab & went to Taichung - Hehuanshan snow mountain, Green Green Grassland, Sun Moon Lake. And also went to Hualien visit Taroko National Park & explored Hualien town.
Not forgetting night markets like shilin, raohe, fengjia (Taichung) & ziqiang (Hualien).

Taipei can be explored with MRT, bus & trains. But outskirts like Taichung, Hualien definitely need a cab because the distance from one place to another is far & it saves time to have booked a cab.

Can I introduce a very nice, friendly & honest cabby here? A friend intro him to me & I booked him for 2 days 1 night trip to Taichung. His rate is very reasonable ( I've asked 8 other cabbies for quotation).
He picked us from our hotel in Taipei & sent us back to Taipei as well. Drove us to many interesting places, use his own money to buy local snacks for us to try, didnt bring us to buy stuff from shops to earn commission. In fact, he gave us tips to save money & even returned "extra money" to us. For instance, the ferry ride at Sun Moon Lake to Shueshi, Itashao and Syuanguang piers costs NT300 per person if you buy at the counter. But it costs only NT100 if a local Taiwanese agent buys for you. So, we actually save NT200 per person there! And he also helped us booked a hotel near fengjia night market for NT1100. Actually it's NT1300 per night and agents get NT200 commission with the hotel. But he gave us back the NT200 as he doesn't want to earn our money. He wants us to spend more at fengjia instead

almost NTD30000 for 6 days for 4 person. in each location,got go 3,4 places. each person about RM130 per day.
