Ordered from acmamall before, not all titles is cheap -- you gotta pick n choose.  Must benchmark with Kino.

As is Mile High Comics. Most of their normal issues are cheap but if you look at their keys and CGC slabs, their prices are all over the places.

Would the current 50% NANETTE2 makes a difference?

It depends on what you're getting. If you're getting some regular issues to complete a run, I'm pretty sure they are cheap.

Take a look at this: http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/back...52131&snumber=1

Look at what they are charging for Ultimate Spiderman #1 Near Mint: 243 USD and Ultimate Spiderman #1 CGC 9.6: 585 USD

Even with 50% off, these comics are way overpriced, anyone in their right mind can easily purchase 2 Ultimate Spiderman #1 CGC 9.6 with some change left at 240 USD.

Just take a look at other key issues and CGC stuff and you'll know what I mean. Haha..

I think more will be after Action #1 and Detective #1, though the general consensus that this is a suicidal move by DC and we'll be back to where we were 2 years later. Haha..

There will be 52 new #1s. How many of you will try to get them all?

I wouldn't be surprised if these new 52 titles are DC's answer to Marvel's Ultimate Comics line. So these could be a temporary attempt to compete with Marvel for a bigger market share. Think Age of Apocalypse. Or Heroes Reborn. Where regular and ongoing titles were "cancelled" for four months to a year before everything reverted back to the normal universe/timeline.

Or it could be set in a post-Flashpoint world. Another Earth. Didn't DC introduce a new Multiverse at the end of the 52 weekly limited series comprising of 52 different Earths? Isn't Grant Morrison working on Multiversity?

I read somewhere that they promised the new titles would follow the events that happened in Flashpoint. Still, while it might seem like a money-making attempt to provide an opportunity for new readers to jump on, it's an equally, if not more, enticing opportunity for current readers to jump off. I wonder how many existing readers they'll lose. Haha..

These days, I only get omnibus and absolute editions. Thor by Walt Simonson Omnibus is a keeper. I am a proud owner of Absolute Watchmen, Absolute Crisis on Infinite Earths, Absolute New Frontier. And I love my Captain America Omnibus and Death of Captain America Omnibus. Madman Gargantua is a nice package. I just ordered Madman Atomica from TBD. Can't wait for it to arrive.

(For those who've ordered from The Book Depository: If the books are sent via normal mail, what if the parcel is larger than the mailbox? Will our friend the postman just throw it into the house compound like our other friend the newspaperman? Uh oh!)

However, there're still some titles that I follow in their monthly format. Grant Morrison's Batman is an only current example. Minis don't count, right? I'm getting Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung's Avengers: The Children's Crusade and The Chief's Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates. Flashpoint and Fear Itself too. I pick and choose when it comes to Geoff Johns' Green Lantern.

So am I excited about DC's new 52 no. 1s? I'll check out Justice League by Johns and Jim Lee. Green Lantern too. And the rumored Superman series by Morrison. I wonder what's gonna happen to Batman Inc.

In conclusion, I buy monthlies. I buy trades and hardcovers. I read free online comics/webcomics too.

Is it time to end the monthlies? Is it time to kill off the direct market? Is it time to stop being a comic book fan and go watch X-Men: First Class, Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America instead?

There are no hard-and-fast-rules for these. My own comic book experience might be similar to yours but it's also different. And it evolves over time too.

Perhaps the question should be: Is it a good time to be a comic book fan?

Another re-numbered? Wait 7-8 month, they're back to their original numbers.

JLA by Johns & Jim Lee? drool.gif & Flashpoint looks promising.

BTW, this year I only purchased 4 TPB so far. (which by the same time last year, probably more than 10 already) sweat.gif

Ultimate Avengers vol 1
Invincible Iron Man - Stark Disassembled & Stark Resilient
New Avengers - Siege

Post-Siege, not many comics caught my interest (well, I've read online comics whistling.gif). Already drop Thor, Superman & any Ultimate books from my list.
Avengers & New Avengers(except for Stuart Immonen's issues) also been dropped. Dunno if still wants to buy DD. Waiting for Mark Waid's (hate what they did to Matt in Shadowland..usually Matt deals with street issues but Shadowland deals with super-naturals..WTF!)

For now, the books that still in my target list is (TPB/HC only)
1. Green Lantern
2. Green Lantern Corps
3. Invincible Iron Man
4. Captain America
5. Fear Itself
6. The Mighty Thor
7. Flashpoint

Wonder Woman is a mystery with new concept and story relaunch a while back then this ????? Who's in for Batgirl the Ori?

Anyway X-Men : First Class, love the cameo of a surprise character though it would nice that it is longer and more relevant.

All Star Batman ??? Driving a batmobile that takes forever to reach batcave? Urm. I remember that, it just went missing half-way like Battlechasers.

Stil people buy that title because of Jim Lee.

Thought I'd like to share something interesting. Take a look at the cover of JLA #1 and look at GL respectively. What seems to be missing? laugh.gif
