18-70mm or 18-105mm VR

having read kenrockwell reviews about these 2 lens above

having a dilemma to choose a simple walkaround lens

was wondering which of u will pick any of these lens above?

18-70 has closer min focus distance (0.38m compare to 18-105, 0.45m)) which attract me more, it has a scale meter which i find it useful when shooting video or landscapes (Hyperfocal technique)

but 18-105 has VR which is an advantage and has more focal length, Kenrockwell review this lens is soft at 18mm and has terrible distortions...

Aperture mode lar......
I set the lens data already 50mm @ F2, but after put the lens in, the Camera detects at set it as F32.........so always meters at F32 exposure giving me long shutter exposure....
but apparently in Live view mode, it can meter well, hahahaha
but in then end i din buy the cheap cheap manual lens smile.gif
