Hmm... on a side note, I actually collected the KelbyTraining - Working with Nikon SB-900 series and Nikon's A Hands On Guide to Creative Lighting videos long ago before I get my DSLR. I'm yet to watch them both, but I guess I'll at least go through the Kelby's to get the idea for my practising and the Nikon's guide only when I mastered the basic.
that kelby training one conducted by joe mcnally...
should go check out the others...maybe u go mad tongue.gif

I did not calibrate my LCD using any device but I followed the settings exactly as per recommended by a website after calibration.

I just checked the Demb Flash Diffuser Pro and it's priced at RM170, do I really need it or DIY larger bounce card will do the same effect if not similar? Not necessary required, isn't? hmm.gif
*
well, there's a reason why demb is still in business tongue.gif
u can always buy the cheaper china copy of the spectralight for around rm50, which should work just as well...but probably wont last as long.

LOL. Your bolded statement got me into thinking now laugh.gif

Are you one of the Demb Flash Diffuser Pro user too? Anything to share about the kit? smile.gif
*
no la, mine is just a used demb flash diffuser classic for rm80.
i was looking at the cheap china spectralight copies for rm50-80 depending on the seller, and the plastic ball joint connector doesnt inspire alot of confidence.
but whats nice about the spectralight design is can flip over the flashhead and use as emergency softbox...and comes with a nice pouch tongue.gif

Demb Diffuser Pro can do the same? I mean flip over the flashhead and use as emergency softbox? unsure.gif

I'm spending on the flashgun and BG instead of lens hoping that I can deliver this coming weekend shooting. Relying only on Kelby's video tutorial to do crash course for doing photography with flash. I'm just crazy now to think about Demb Diffuser Pro sweat.gif
*
thats why its called demb diffuser tongue.gif
softbox is also diffused, but with direct diffused flash...
demb cannot do direct cos the panel is not transparent.
tho i guess the spectralight softbox effect isnt that good.
imo, dont waste time with those mini softboxes...just use bounce enough.

guys, sad to say that i will be jumping ship over to the white side. reason being that both my shooting partners are using 'nonac' systems and i am the only one using nikon. as much as i love nikon and being a nikon fanboy, i have decided to change to over to 'nonac' for convenience sake and not bcos i dont love nikon anymore ! do forgive me guys ! it's been great learning from this thread and will continue to follow this thread ! smile.gif have a great weekend to all !

you need better powers of persuasion, else u couldve gotten ur 2 friends to jump here tongue.gif

*

I got one of these, so far only triggering haven't been using the hot shoe pass tru, pretty reliable.
*
now also got the yongnuo rf-603 that does the same thing, but design of it is abit stupid.
cannot access off/on switch if the flash is mounted, and got no lock for the camera hotshoe.
but its at least 40% cheaper...guess u get wat u pay for again tongue.gif

Sorry bro, can't remember where I read it before; By default, when we load NEF files, LR will applied some adjustments; What can be seen is the contrast +25 and brightness +50; Not sure if there's any other adjustment. Since I'm going to adjust it or apply my own presets, so I didn't bother it. I think Jared Polin mentioned it before about auto-loading your own preset when importing NEF files.
Btw, anybody know how to differentiate Sigma Malaysia VS AP Sigma lens warranty card? How do we know whether it is AP or Sigma Malaysia warranty?
*
iirc the sigma warranty cards are the same everywhere.
but if local, there will be an extra card from the local distributor - audio & photo distributor.

sometimes I felt that D7k dedicated ISO button is a misplace. sweat.gif
*
all nikon dslr's have their iso buttons misplaced, even the D3.
only canon has it right tongue.gif

Attached the MB-D11 bg to the D7000 body. Hmm... it seems to be solid built, however the rubber is way different feeling than the D7000's. It's like some cheapo rubber on the bg vs some quality rubber on the body laugh.gif

And yes... it does feel like not attached tightly as it still can move very slightly giving you that kind of "feeling" where the body is moving on the bg.
*
hmm...i find the rubber on the bg better...cos can feel the rubbery friction grip etc.

18-70mm or 18-105mm VR

having read kenrockwell reviews about these 2 lens above

having a dilemma to choose a simple walkaround lens

was wondering which of u will pick any of these lens above?

18-70 has closer min focus distance (0.38m compare to 18-105, 0.45m)) which attract me more, it has a scale meter which i find it useful when shooting video or landscapes (Hyperfocal technique)

but 18-105 has VR which is an advantage and has more focal length, Kenrockwell review this lens is soft at 18mm and has terrible distortions...
*
if u wanna do close ups, dont read into the min focus distance, but into the maximum reproduction spec.
cos u can zoom into 105mm at 0.45m and get slightly larger image than at 70mm 0.38m.
the specs confirms that as 18-105 has 1/5 reproduction while 18-70 is 1/6.2.

im still thinking either to get lowepro slingshot 302aw oe lowepro slingshot 350aw. Is the 302aw a replacement for 300aw? Thanks
*
yes replacement.
what do u want to put in it?
350 obviously can fit laptop, but if ur gonna pack either up with heavy lenses...i can guarantee u ur shoulder will die after 30mins at the earliest.

yea im planning to put in the 70-200mm. So u suggest me to get like a back pack? Like flipside 400aw? The reason i wanna get slingshot is that it could provide me easier access to all my lenses that i want to use.
*
slingshot does not provide easy access unless u got very very very extremely short arms.
u have to try it then u will know.

yea, backpack.
flipside 300 is enough already, i find 400 too wide.
or get like think tank retrospective series.

obviously for easy access u need a sling bag / waist pack.

flipside has a waist belt, then u can remove the shoulder straps and swing it around to ur front, and open the zip at the back.

i got retro 20 and flipside 300.
there is no 1 bag that can do everything.
sometimes u may want a small bag for normal walking around.
sometimes u need a more comfortable bag to go holiday etc.

When i see clearly at the last pic, it is indeed a 400aw lol
*
the other pics of the bag shows a 300.
assume fake.
if i was u, go buy from authorised store...will be slightly more expensive...
but then, u dont spend rm15,000 on equipment just to store it in a fake bag right?
