u need a US itunes account to access those, but to get apps/games just register a malaysian itunes account and download them from appstore

Exactly the same. Only thing is free promo codes tend to be valid for US appstore only. Some are limited to only US app store like the kindle app and abc tv. Makes me wonder if those apps can work in malaysia or not
