i got a CM USP 100 red casing. want 2 add few more fans for good ventilation. already got 3 fans, all 120 mm. front n bottom intake while d rear is exhaust. if add 1/2 more fans, shoul i use the side panel as intake/exhaust or both? 1 more question, if i put an external 120mm fan outside the PCI slots as an exhaust, is it good? can reduce the internal temp? coz my GC produce an excessive amount of heat, idle at 50-60'C thanx 4 replies n comments This post has been edited by aeppy: May 26 2011, 03:02 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

i am fully agree with wat Jayi had suggested. i think u juz add 1 fan on the side panel would b sufficient dude. u add too many fans will cause vibrations n noise.

QUOTE(Jayi @ May 26 2011, 02:17 PM) For sure side panel is intake bro But do note that the side intake doesn't have filter , and the likely of your case getting dusty in 3 months is a nightmare now...

I dont think tat it is really require to put a fan filter at side panel since the hole there was ventilated nt 1 big hole . But anyway it is still depends on TS chooise

For my opinion, too much intake to the case without proper exhaust. Will not improve temp.
Mostly the hot air will stuck inside the case. From the signature your vga is gtx 260 so is suck & exhaust hot air out at the back.
As your casing side panel is would suggest the top side panel hole exhaust hot air out from the case. The below hole as direct intake fresh air blowing to you vga.
Btw you can always tried, remove fan just 4 screw so easy.
For my way is just add another 1 fan at the top hole side panel as exhaust hot air out is sufficient. Because I assume your bottom fan is blowing direct your gtx260 fan

more doesnt mean good.
like you have 10 fan as intake but only 1 exhaust.
air the inside the case you trap, like the concept of your car tyre pressure. then the air is full then the intake wont push much air in.
as i explain before. You have a v12 4000cc turbine engine with a large air intake scope, but you only have kancil eksos do you think your v12 engine will run? Also you have kancil engine but you use ferrari eksos, will it works? = =
ok thats all, talk too much d.

Getting Started

taxidoor's suggestion seems good. my friend uses this casign and uses the top side panel fan slot as an exhaust and it does seem to improve temps a bit. =)

phew, got that right taxidoor, bottom directly to my vga. but, if exhaust at upper panel, will it affect my cm hyper tx3 performance? coz the upper panel is directly next to it

If got intake , your TX3 gets cooler fresh air... but then again , the dust problem again

It worth a try but remember that do not waste so much $$ on such casing and its better to get a good air flow case instead .

bro,now u are worried about the gpu temp right? u can try other aftermarket cooler for it. even if u manage to do a good air ventilation inside ur casing, i think it wont help much to lower the gpu temp. unless u use aftermarket gpu cooler. is ur GTX260 reference cooler?

QUOTE(aeppy @ May 28 2011, 03:43 PM) haha, no guts to cabut the ori cooling & put this 1 As you said , you want to put on watercooling system & apply to the gpu . If you want to watercooled your gpu , u must use another waterblock and remove the stock cooler . So if you no guts to take off stock cooler , you cant do anything
