Q1: My house's stair is quite the same as this but the problem is, it is quite slippery. I found some solution for it:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

- one of them is to put the tape which prevent slippery [but it will make the stair ugly.]

- use some anti slippery chemical which I dont think can be found in normal hardware shop and I dont know how long can it last

- to cut some lines on the tiles and put metal in the lines which is something like wat they did in shopping center.

Q2: Is there any lighting that is suitable for the living room or room if plaster ceiling is not use besides long fluorescent tube

Staircase: I wud advise u can lay laminate flooring where u dun need hacking & hassle free if u r concerning de beauty of ur interior designing.

Remarks: mat doesn't look nice while non-slip tape will not last long for human traffic.

meanwhile fluorescent change 2 down-light without plaster ceiling is impossible.down-light is designated 2 have plaster ceiling & comes with few diff sizes..4",6" & etc.
