Can write as Three thousand three hundred sixty two & cents ninety four only. There is no fixed rule, it served as to verify the number your write. |

I normally leave out ringgit and sen.
I will write as THREE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED SIXTY TWO AND NINETY FOUR ONLY. Never had a problem with banks. If I leave out AND, bank sure call up one. Now, already have cheque writing machine... too lazy to spell now. Just punch and wait. |

and you can even use American/British English or spelling error also.
Forty cents or Fourty cents I purposely write two different cheques with the above, and both are cleared |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ May 23 2011, 05:26 PM) and you can even use American/British English or spelling error also. Next time, try fourties, see it can be cleared or not.. Forty cents or Fourty cents I purposely write two different cheques with the above, and both are cleared Nowadays, lot of spelling error occurred around, from advertisement to even official promoting brochure. No surprise, there are people don't know whether it is fourty or forty. As said, it served as verify, some banks are more strict, some banks are more lenient, as long it has its meaning aka verify the number on the amount is right, they let it through. |

don't worry so much TS. no need to be 100% grammar correct. bank will only reject if you obviously screw up (i.e. you miss a number or something). all the "dan" and "ringgit" and all the other filler words is OK to miss one.

That makes perfect sense to me. People normally write the entire cheque in one go. Name, date, amount, amount, sign. It takes all of 20 seconds.
If the cheque looks like it has been altered, or different parts have been filled up by different people, it's a sign of possible fraud. |

BEWARE:
"Ringgit Malaysia' pre-printed. Just write the amount and ensure "SEN" instead of "CENT" in line with Malaysia currency. I had terrible time with a stubborn sister insisted CENT and SEN are same and acceptable! She explained previous cheques all cleared with the use of CENT. Obviously, in the interest of currency, RINGGIT MALAYSIA pairing with SEN whilst DOLLAR pairing with CENT. 👍 QUOTE(clivengu @ May 23 2011, 05:43 PM) I hardly written any check before & always have a bit of doubt when writing the check. You bumped a 10 years old topic for this? Doesn’t matter cents or sen. One is in Malay the other is English. Nothing to do with currency _kilakila_ liked this post
