Finally we can buy apps in Android market (at least without having to swap with foreign SIM cards like US and UK and not getting updates)! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

The first app which I bought from the market was Tasker just because 1) I was still trying to look for a program that will automate my audio profiles 2) I was testing Tasker at that time and I procrastinated using my UK SIM to buy apps. Seems like for once procrastinating pays off! haha

Anyway I have had the app for nearly a month already and do not really have much other Profiles, so I though I ask what other people have in the Tasker as profiles which they automate and for people to ask so questions about how to use Tasker (I am one of them). Come come... share share

What I currently have in my Tasker now is:

Wifi Control - turns on my WiFi and turn off screen lock when I am near my house (based on cell tower). Turns off Wifi and turn on screen lock when leaving my house

GPS Control - turns on the GPS when I open programs like Google Maps, Latitude etc which benefit from using GPS

Bluetooth Control - Turns on when I open MyPhoneExplorer (calender and contact sync with MS Outlook via Bluetooth)

Audio "Profiles" - I have four; Silence, Quiet, Normal and Load. Silence is no sound at all, not even vibrate. The other three are in increasing volume. Silence is set to when in my calender has an entry that is either *meet*/*movie*/*discuss*

Nightly Reboot - Since my phone is not rooted and stock ROM I am using Fast Reboot to quickly do it. The Profile is set to run at 5am, unlock the phone, turn the phone on, load Fast Reboot, wait, turn the screen on, and turn screen lock on again.

Other useful Profiles I found but not yet implement
Lifehacker.com - Turn your android into a superphone
Lifehacker.com - iPhone Find-my-phone Clone

I'm using Timerrific to set Airplane mode from 12-7 am daily. This seems to do much much more. I just wanted it to set my brightness at home to the minimum automatically. tongue.gif

Never tried Timerrific before but Tasker will be able to do much more then just set the brightness.

I read somewhere you can even make it download the weather updates and read it out in the morning as your alarm clock.

yeah I have to admit the program is not easy to use. The first time i installed it i uninstall within 24 hours coz i didnt understand how to use it. u can goto the developer site and install a trail version that works for 7 days for free. reinstall the program if u think 7 days not enough.

i think my fav Profile is to automate the reboot. since it will work at night without me knowing, other then that is to activate the Silence setting which i think save me more then once during meetings.

What other profiles do u have on your tasker?

Wifi Control:
Context - Use Location but turn off ur phone's wifi connection 1st otherwise it will detect ur location based on your house wifi. Select "Net" disable "GPS" and click "Get Fix" - "Done"

Profile - Add profile Net > Wifi > Set - ON
Add exit profile Net > Wifi > Set - OFF

Done.

I give u the rest tonight...

Edit - ok the rest of the Profiles

GPS control - Context > Application > (select all applicable applications here)
Profile >Add new task > Misc > GPS > Set - ON

Nighly Reboot -
First you have to download Fast Reboot from the market. It is free

Context - Time > (select your preferred time - i took 5am to 5am)
Profile - New task > App > Load App > Fast Reboot
Add > Tasker > Wait >5 seconds
Add > Display > turn On
Add> Display > Key guard > Set - off
Add > Display > App > Go Home > Set - 0
Add> Display > Key guard > Set - off

The auto reboot doesnt really hard reboot the phone... more like a soft reboot where the software are terminated and restarted. it does most of it's job... mainly coz i didnt root my phone. The setting is pretty complicated, mainly coz the restart of the software doesnt really occur until the main screen is back on (hence the turning on of the screen and going to the home screen). I suggest you trying out a couple of combinations. personally I am still tweaking my auto reboot as some times it doesnt work as well as i think it should.
