Its sharing the same market with the mobile version. Some are downloadable, some are not available in our country. I know MarketAccess will fix things up, but I need to root this thing. That will only be done when I have my own device in my hand (somewhere this week). This one is an engineering device.QUOTE(CyberKewl @ May 23 2011, 07:20 AM) Awesome! looking forward to see your app bro. awesome review.. now I'm in a dilemma, which i think many of us out there are..
i am one of the first 150 to pre-order the Transformer.. but was tempted with the Iconia's 32GB & standard usb support.. however, I'm still very doubtful over the quality of Acer.. so, now i am still comparing the pros & cons of Transformer vs Iconia. Paper comparison is just crap without first hand experience of the devices.. if u can get your hand on one Iconia, i believe u will be answering the questions for many ppl.. the reason why i am staying away from iPeed2, oops i mean iPad2, is due to lack of flash support, SD card support etc, and I find Iconia has an upper hand in the hardware department even against Transfomer (if we compare the tabs w/o docks).. what do u think? PS: no i am not an Iconerd or Aceriast, I'm just another guy who wants to make his money worth.. |

If you ask me, I love the Transformer. It does EVERYTHING that I wanted. Sure the USB resides on the KDS only, but you need to remember that USB devices requires power to run = which the KDS delivers handsomely.i am one of the first 150 to pre-order the Transformer.. but was tempted with the Iconia's 32GB & standard usb support.. however, I'm still very doubtful over the quality of Acer.. so, now i am still comparing the pros & cons of Transformer vs Iconia. hardware sounds good. but compared to apple's ipad 2, which one has better selection of software to make it useful?
i'm highly concerned for the app support of android machines. many developers choose to release software for iOS before porting it to android. but supplies for ipad 2 is quite tight due to the huge popularity, may be need to consider this transformer. xoom was disappointing. |

Managed to get my hand on iPad 2 from Harvey Norman last weekend. That's actually a gift for my wife. For me, still eagerly waiting for my Transformer. Pre-ordered mine but not sure when will the shop get the stock. Hopefully by this week also.

Nice review. Thank you.
Some questions: Did you test it with a mouse? How long did the battery lasts you ( with the KDS)? |

nice review TS !!
I have also pre-ordered the Transformer from Asus FB. Only thing that i'm still contemplating whether to pick it up this saturday or not is because of the KDS unavailability. Actually not so much on the unavailability but more on the uncertainty Asus My have left to us who pre-ordered. Many of us would like to get the Transformer and not only the "form" without the "trans" but Asus is keeping their mouth very tight about this(actually they seldom reply in FB which causes potential customer to rage haha). We don't even know if we can top up rm301 at a later stage to purchase the KDS or are we force to pay a premium later since it would be then sold to us as accessories rather than combo package. Since you obviously have some tali with Asus, mind helping us to clarify on this ? |

QUOTE(alexwks @ May 23 2011, 11:43 AM) Shahz, since u played with the Iconia too, care to share the experience comparing to Transformer? for example Iconia screen is not as pretty as Transformer, etc. First of all, I played with the Iconia for about an hour plus only. It wasn't my device but I managed to fiddle around with its core functionalities. I may not be the best person to ask, as my judgement might be biased towards the Transformer since I have spent more time with it. I personally have my "goals" that I wanted to achieve with the tablet of my choice. First definitely its open-ness or root-ability - which the Transformer commits. Then, the display is a very big issue for me coz I've had very bad experiences with the Nexus One under the sun. The Iconia uses TFT screen and I really didn't like it honestly. The result was poor compared to Xoom - The Transformer is a clear winner in this. Also, somehow the Iconia felt "warm" after prolonged usage which I didn't get on the Transformer. Sure, the Iconia has USB support natively while the Transformer depends on the dock, but I dont like to plug devices to the gadget that I hold in my hands anyway. I dont even plug chargers when I am using a gadget because cables just annoy me. And, the extras that the Transformer has - epecially the cloud support is definitely gonna kick Iconia out of competition. You guys have no idea how it felt like when the Transformer was controlling the cinema's screen and surround - remotely - without any cables! I fell for the device instantly then Added on May 23, 2011, 12:16 pm QUOTE(Atsutane-Shirane @ May 23 2011, 11:53 AM) I still can't decide to continue with the FB pre-order or not... Did ASUS contact you via PM?QUOTE(lch78 @ May 23 2011, 11:54 AM) Nice review. Thank you. Yep. When you dock it, the mouse will appear. USB mouse didn't work, but the ASUS guys told me it was some fault on the engineering device. Can't confirm it yet until I get the production device. The battery is awesome. Take it this way. I charged it to 100%. The next morning, I used the tablet only (without the dock). Downloaded 233 pages of The Star newspaper. Read the WHOLE newspaper from page to page. Then played "Paradise Island" game for about 2 hours. After all this, I still had about 40% of the battery. The KDS was not used at all yet. The device is never switched off. Only hibernates. Its the next morning today and I'm using it with the KDS and I have 45% battery which is easily going to last the whole day. I'm using internet full time, display at 100% (not auto brightness) and everything is running at optimum performance. If battery is an issue for you, this device is not going to let you down really Some questions: Did you test it with a mouse? How long did the battery lasts you ( with the KDS)? QUOTE(mikeeeee @ May 23 2011, 11:54 AM) nice review TS !! Okay, I have talked to the ASUS guys. Indeed, they are planning to give the keyboard for the same price if you have bought the device together because the problem is on their side. They lack stocks. What I can confirm is, the devices are arriving this week and will reach the customs on Wednesday. Whether they clear the same day or the next day, will determine when you get your devices. They are pushing the throttle and doing their best. I dont want to promise on the keyboard yet. Even I will not be getting the keyboard until the production stock arrives. But I wil definitely keep you guys updated. Especially on my blog.I have also pre-ordered the Transformer from Asus FB. Like i said earlier, i don't mind getting the KDS later but just doesn't like the idea of being "punished" to pay more for giving Asus full supports during the early stage. If what you say is true, then see u guys at Asus MidValley this Saturday !! |
