Do you really know what's HIIT?
If you know, then tell me what's the relationship of its "safety" and "gaining weight or not"? HIIT will always be safe if you perform it safely. It can only be risky provided you keep your heart rate above your MHR for too long, you get heart attack and faint. HIIT is a type of workouts, that been studied as an efficient way to burn fat as it's short and intense. But I'm not really a big fan of HIIT. I'm not an ecto, but when you're ecto and you saying you have pot belly,it could be your lifestyle problem.Gaining weight (you said it) meaning you gain fat, which means you want to increase your god damn belly. Maybe you're saying you want to gain muscle, I dun know. In short, remove pot belly=lots cardio, remove body fat overall Gain physical strength and muscle=weight training, lifting, squating HIIT is just one of the way you perform exercise. You can perform it anytime you want,as long as your body is not having 0% fat,you are still having fat to burn. |

It is definitely safe, but I would only do it sparingly. Maybe twice a week on certain days? If you try to do HIIT every day, you will quickly get tired and your body will revolt =)
