The address is:
No 850, Batu 4 1/2, Jalan Ipoh, 51200 KL

I think opposite CIMB, Maybank and Ambank along Jalan Ipoh.

Any idea where to get cheap lightings?

I just went to Fo Sin Aluminium to purchase curtain tracks and curtain rods for my own house. The price is very cheap compare to ourside curtain shop. Quality wise was very good as well. I am very skeptical at first when i walked into the shop as it doesn't look like a business which sells curtain related stuff. I walked inside nonetheless since i have travelled 30 mins to reach there. Haha.. how did you find this place PropertyInvestor? I wouldn’t have walked inside if it weren’t for your post. Inside was full of curtain accessories with lots of curtain railings. They have multiple color as well such as White, Brown, Silver etc.

For rods, i suggest you choose the medium brown color one. It looks quite nice for house with timber flooring. The white color one was a bit outdated whereas the black one doesn’t suit me. Other colors was so so only. For blinds, i chose roller blind. It costs me around RM200-300 only. Very cheap.

For lightings, i went to Mega Lightings Sdn Bhd located near PJ SS2. Price was cheap and quality is OK i reckon. Try calling.

SSF is very expensive!!! I went to have a quote from them near Mid Valley Branch. Price quoted was SOOO high. For my whole house, they quoted me RM4000+ Just for railings and rods!! Supreme Curtain near PJ quoted me RM3.2k i still think it's expensive. Then i stumbled upon this forum during the night.. I got the same thing for RM1k-2k at Fo sin.

Give them a visit. I think it will not dissapoint you..

After numerous post here in Lowyat, i thought i would share something nice for those of you who are looking to renovate your house and require aluminium and cheap curtain railings. I have done this to 40-50 of my rental properties. It’s by far the cheapest in the market so far. Most probably due to them being manufacturer and not retailers.

The whole house curtain railings and rods cost me around RM200-300 only whereas curtain shop charges me RM1300 for the product and amount! Before you give them a visit, Please make sure you have all measurements ready!

For railings, All you need is
1) Curtain Railings (Aluminium <-- the best and last long)
2) Curtain Brackets (To hold railings)
3) Curtain Rollers (Self explanatory)
4) Curtain Hooks (Self Explanatory)
5) Curtain End Cap (To prevent rollers from sliding out)
6) Curtains

I bought this from Fo Sin Aluminium Dan Kaca Sdn Bhd (0362577860) Anyone heard of it before? They are the manufacturer, distributor of aluminium extruded products. You won’t get it anywhere cheaper in Malaysia. They have more than 10,000 railings when i visited them last week, i think they supply to all curtain shops in Malaysia.  For, aluminium extruded section as well, you could give them a visit. Probably, you can try to purchase material over there and assign a contractor to install it at your office or house. That would be much cheaper.

Please recommend me where to get cheap lightings and tiles! Anyone?

good stuff! i went to fo sin also buying curtain tracks. i love it that they have those which can be bent into a curve. RM5 per ft for normal aluminium (i asked for the highest quality), and RM6 per ft for the curved ones. best part is price is all in - they provide the end caps, rollers, brackets, even the screw to the wall! you just drill and put in wall plugs and you're all set. it was rather difficult to install the long ones though, i had some difficulties installing a 10' double rail but managed to in the end.

i also highly recommend this shop. they are also very patient to explain and let me choose (spoke to this elderly man, probably owner there). i would be interested to find out where to get good quality reasonable lighting and taps too......

Hi guys, I'll really new to this curtain thing so excuse my noob question. If I'm looking for roman blinds, does it come in one set (railing + fabric)?

There are few of my rooms and kitchen can only install Roman blinds. So was wondering can i get any roman blinds (one set) from Fo Sin?

All sifus advise is much appreciated

I bought my lights at
Wong Lighting (M) Sdn Bhd
No. 17 & 19, Lorong Yap Hing, Off Jalan Pasar,
Pudu, 55100 KL. (Its behind RHB)
Tel: 03-2145 6788

They sell all sorts of lights; indoor and outdoor. Cheap and quality more reliable. Apparently some say the one opposite Wong Lighting also is not bad.

Normally the length of the curtain rod would be based on the width of the window. As a guide,

Width of window (in inches) + (2 x 6")

Some use 6" or 8" depending on the type of curtain's pleat.

In some cases, for bedroom windows, if the window frame is just next to the adjacent wall, then the length of the rod will need to be adjusted accordingly.

The length of the rod should not be based on the width of the curtain as there would be some slack in the curtain's width to allow for the pleats biggrin.gif

Hi PropertyInvestor,

This is really good information that you have shared!
You've surely made many people happy and I've decided to visit Fosin tomorrow morning.
Do they open on Sundays?

To all those looking for cheap & reasonably good curtains,

Check out Nilai 3! Their price is much cheaper than elsewhere and you'll be spoilt for choice...you can get all the things u need for curtains over there.
Another place I would suggest is Nagoya...also quite cheap.

There are also many other places which sell ready made curtains.
Ready made curtains are definitely cheaper than custom made.
When you buy of course, the size won't be the same as your window size.
But, buy a size thats bigger than the width & height of your window.
Then, you can alter it according to your size.
Alteration doesn't cost much at all, maybe just RM50 per curtain (this is what I was told by my previous curtain tailor, not sure about others but I'm the cost is pretty low).

Anybody done this before? Please do share your experience, good & bad.

Added on July 16, 2011, 10:26 pmBy the way, does Fosin also sell blinds??

P/S: SSF is very very expensive. I went there once and I don't think I'll go back again.

Yes i bought roller and roman blinds there as well. Glad i could help some of you guyz here. Prices for blinds and wooden rods are way below prices quoted by those curtain shops. Very well worth a try.

and thank you for those who recommend those lighting shops. Appreciate it a lot. I am going to upload my house pics for you all to comments biggrin.gif

Installation RM300 is quite cheap considering curtain shop charging RM500 minimum per trip. Anyway, try to install yourself as it's so easy. Screws, wall plug, rails and brackets all provided by them for RM3-5/ft (Straight track)!

Which quality did you go for? I took the most thick model and quite happy with it!

I recently went to purchase another wooden rod also.. quality very good.

regarding railings...

if i were to use a wooden rod for main curtains...what should i use to hang my sheers behind the main curtains? alu rods or another wooden rod?

i'm thinking if alu rods, it has to be under the wooden rods right? any idea?

Here are my reviews after visiting SSF for quotation on made to order curtains.

1. Curtain - Most of the fabric (except black out) is very thin layer, the sales person will ask you to add on another layer of lining which means you need to pay extra money.
2. Price - Compare to other curtain prices, SSF is quite reasonable (only during sales period)

For those in PG, go Campell Street, got 1 or 2 curtain shops....selling rm5/ft (include bracket, rail, roller, end cap)..... u can go hardware shop customize and buy those piece by piece, but then u need to know exactly what mounting bracket u need, how many roller, etc etc......of coz is cheaper in total (compare to the rm5/ft).

For me I just buy those rm5/ft thingy, spend rm23x for a condo unit (2 sliding door double rail, 3 big small windows).

Actually the most constly part is not the railing, it is the curtain itself. U try compare those ready made and custom made curtain, the price will differ by 2x/3x/4x !! So if you really want a custom made curtain, better survey many many shop and get the best deal.

Fo Sin is so weird..It just gives me the impression they are making advertisement from this forum..

Different users are created with the SAME ADVERTISEMENT..It is very annoying.

Why don't the "USERS" from Fo Sin give forumers here advice instead keep on advertising?

I'm writing this in hope that no one else will fall into this trap obviously set up by the TS. When I came across this thread, I was very excited and thought I've found a really good place to find cheap and good varieties of curtain racks and rods for my new home.

After the traffic jam and some distance from my place, I finally found the shop. The first thing I realize was the shop doesn't have too many varieties of curtain rods. Only the wooden type was available. In the end I have to go with the classical/normal aluminium rack type. When I gave the lady my window measurement, I thought she would recommend the rack length for the windows but I was almost given the exact same rack length with the width of the windows.

Price was definitely none negotiable. I paid RM250 for racks of 1 sliding door, 1 three panel and 2 two panel windows. 2 days later, I came across the exact same type of racks at ACE hardware for my whole house (same measurements) for less than RM180.

I didn't see kaca too when I went there, I only saw many Al curtain tracks. I had gotten myself a quotation but haven't bought frm them yet.

Looking at some not very good feedbacks given here, it hesitates me whether to buy or not to buy frm them. Tht was my 1st time asking for curtain track, I'm not too sure how cheap is cheap and how expensive is consider expensive.

Any1 who has been there and bought curtain track(s) frm them, kindly share Ur experience.

I almost go there too due to the posts. I am thankful that I found a guy doing Roller Blinds at a price that is below market value, but his service is better than a lot of curtains shops in the market. You can try calling him. His name is Philip 012 2002730. I found him in LYN forum too. But he advertised himself, unlike some people here misled people. His is fast, efficient, and very polite. His staff, a Chinese guy is also very polite, fast, and efficient. I am so happy with the roller blinds that he installed for me. Compared to the high-end brand Amano that I bought from other curtain shop, which costs more, I definitely prefer Philip's roller blinds more. His company is ihomefurnishing Entreprise. Because he doesn't have a shop, so his price is lower than the others. Try him. Just call and he will go to measure and give you quotation on the spot FOC, unlike others, I had to pay for measurement, Baagus even too lazy to quote me properly. Call him and tell my name Miss Leong from Taman Desa.wink.gif

maybe you can call him and ask, because he has a few fabrics. I did research in many places before i decided to take him. He is at least a few hundred cheaper than the others. I found one which is just slighlty more expensive than him, like 50bucks, in the fair last month, a shop in Ampang, but it is just way too far away for me

For curtain, sometime it's difficult to compare
prices becoz of fabric. We can only compare the
sewing n installation cost....price variance very wide

i forgot the name...is same row with alliance bank...

i went to nilai to bought the curtain and rail....price rm840 for living room with sheer, master bedroom full height with sheer, medium and small room and rail.

i'm not sure the quality but i feel not bad and almost the same that puchong curtain shop quote me for one living room with sheer.

the sewing quality, don't expect so much with that price and i feel quite ok ....with the amount i saved, i can buy carpet and bed sheet and still got few hundred left

if i buy from curtain shop at kl, i think at least rm1.5k for my all windows....

You hafta check with your plaster ceiling guy of there is a plaster ceiling frame where you can attach the ceiling bracket around that area. and if the plaster ceiling can handle this weight. Also you can explore lighter curtains. hmm.gif

Maybe you can use Kvartal Wall Bracket, but rather than attached it to the back of the wall like usual (on top of the window which you do not have),
you attach the wall bracket to the side, left and right side of the window wall.
Use the Wall bracket that has longer reach (the ones where they fit 3+1 track) and with these hold the track in place from the end of the track instead in the middle.
This should work as long as your window are less than 55" wide.
You hafta see the kvartal system to fully understand what I mean.

This is a quotation that I got from a curtain make:

1 sliding door 9'4" tall X 8'4" width
1 window 9'4"tall X 7'6" width (black out)
2 windows 6'10" tall X 7'6" width
4 sets waterproof roller blinds 4 feet x 4 feet.

All french pleat blinds, aluminium double tracks with organza layer except roller blinds. Total 4.3K.

Another option is that you go to Nilai Square 3, Nilai Commercial Centre.
Wifey wanna save money so she went there, shops looks quiet but price and choices there are not bad at all.
Overall savings approx. RM1000 compared to Baagus at current promotion price for my whole house.
Worth the trouble nod.gif

Nilai 3 provide rail installation to Shah Alam? How's the quality?

One more thing, is there a need to specification I should take note when it comes to the curtain tracks? They told me it's double track but is there anything I should ask like the thickness of the aluminium they use etc? Wooden and aluminium track, which one is more durable?

Quality wise in Nilai 3, I would rate moderate to Good. nod.gif
I did not ask about the railing/track installation as I was planning to use IKEA's.
I saw the aluminium track provided by Baagus, and the ones that is sold outside, IKEA's KVARTAL quality are definitely better.
Aluminum is much thicker than anything I found outside.
The design is soooooo cool cool2.gif

I forgot to mention one detail.
The KVARTAL Wall Bracket that I mentioned to be utilized in this ad-hoc way needs to be adjusted.
The part of the wall bracket in front where it curls down need to be cut off for this method to work.

phoenix69, I was in Ikea yesterday, saw the Kvartal range but they only have 2 types of mounting, one - to the wall above the window and another type is mounted to the ceiling above. Didn't see anything that can be mounted to the left and right wall of the window. Not sure if you mean the same type of mounting used above the window's wall?

Its the wall mount type (extra reach one) but as I mentioned, you got to "modify" the wall bracket by doing this.
:-- in front where it curls down need to be cut off for this method to work

This is a ad hoc, non conventional method but it can solve your problem.

Nagoya is good. Nilai3 is best. In regards to value. Curtain track can be easily DIY. Go hardware shop and tell then how long track u want, single or double. Then ask them to cut accordingly. Make sure you get the better quality type...usually got 2 types.

Agree with the above, Nagoya is by far has the best value fabrics for curtains.

With the installation, I learned that Fo Sin at Ipoh street are not necessarily the cheapest (yet they are quite low and good value), as they offer now RM 5 per foot run of custom aluminum rails, without installer's fees. Other places like Nagoya offers RM 6 with installation included. That is for custom rails which are necessary to take if the rails need to be longer than 9 feet. If your rails are going to be shorter than 9 feet long though, it's much cheaper to get ready made ones from the likes of Houz Depot or hardware shops.

I have experienced the quality of fabrics at Nagoya. Although very cheap, the curtains literally tear in a year. I made curtains from Nagoya $15 fabric and the curtains didn't even last a year. When I replaced them with something more expensive, they lasted more than 3 years. That too I changed them because I was bored of the design. They are still in good shape.

My window is like a half-hexagon shape, so my curtain track will need to be bended at the corner area.

Anyone know where to get the curve curtain rail?

I highly recommend Goodmeyer for curtain tracks, and Tewah for curtain fabrics.

CURTAIN TRACKS

For curtain tracks, you can go to Goodmeyer, look for Ms Khoo or Ms Lee. They're very helpful and friendly and will introduce you to installers if you need them. For me, when I asked they introduced a very professional installer - Mr Lim. Some people choose to cut and install DIY. But I suggest you get Mr Lim to install, he's really good!

Goodmeyer has some of the best quality aluminum curtain rails (plain, powder-coated, etc) - these are usually used by designers and expensive curtain shops. They manufacture the rails themselves so you are buying right from the source. They have some different grades of materials, but just by looking, the smooth gliding motion, material - you know their products are superior to those found in hardware shops.

Goodmeyer
No. 27, Jln Bdr 16, Pusat Bdr Puchong, 47100 Puchong.
Tel: 03-5882-5725
(The shop/ factory is near Tesco Puchong, and behind Soon Hing BBQ.)

CURTAIN FABRICS

For curtains, after surveying Macys and many other expensive curtain shops, I finally got mine made at Tewah IOI Mall. You'll be amazed by their variety - basic, moderate, lux fabrics, everything available. Prices are great. It was so much better than going to curtain shops and often looking at small squares of fabrics from catalogues!

Look for Mr Robert Yong - he has tons of experience (knows a lot about the materials), will explain things patiently one by one to you. He's very detailed 细心and particular, important traits - since he'll help you in choosing fabrics.

And they have sheers/ other curtain materials to suit all budgets. For me, I'm doing double rail for most of my windows - one layer blackout + one layer sheer. For some windows, I use other fabrics. I even made heavy fabrics to keep in the aircond and for 2 walls...

Robert Yong
Tewah IOI Mall, Puchong
Tel: 03-8076-1636, 8076-9636

-------------------------------

For Goodmeyer and Tewah, can mention Karen Wong introduce.

Added on August 30, 2012, 10:21 pmTewah clearly lists their sewing charges. This I like. I find that many curtain shops do not do this.

I made Singapore pleats because much easier - much less time consuming - to put in the hooks.

You can call Aaron 016-349-0213, of Modern Home Trading at Kota Kemuning. I bought his special promo blinds for the kitchen, at RM8 psf and they're lovely. Waterproof, 70% light transmission, with subtle leaf patterns.

Ask Aaron specifically for the RM8 psf promo blinds - he'll know what you're talking about. There are many colors, designs, degree of light transmission to choose from.

If you live far away from Kota Kemuning, Aaron can send someone to measure and show you the blind fabric book. This I know because I helped a friend ask.

Can mention Karen Wong introduce him.

Another option is that you go to Nilai Square 3, Nilai Commercial Centre.
Wifey wanna save money so she went there, shops looks quiet but price and choices there are not bad at all.
Overall savings approx. RM1000 compared to Baagus at current promotion price for my whole house.

Booked my curtains from this curtain shop in SStwo Mall today, the name of the shop is Cozy Curtains. Near to Econsave.
Found this place by chance while shopping in SStwo Mall today.

I find their price to be reasonable and quality ok.
According to the staff there, they do outcalls/door to door service also. Contact number given is 012-7898 756.

Usually don't need to add wood, just use those 'butterfly' look like hook to hold your rail.

Hi there,

maximum width for roller blinds depend on the material you choose. Normal one is 2.5 meter and 3 meter.

More than that need to separate it into 2.

You may add jointer so one string to control both blinds simultaneously.

Hi,

Anyone using polymer curtain? I saw it in a fair today and the material is quite smooth and soft. Any disadvantage compared to fabric? I am indecisive on which one to take as fabric is few hundreds more expensive than polymer. Both also 100% block sunlight

Now looking for classy looking rod ends. Any ideas?

I've been trying to look for curved curtain rod (a C shape), it seems so difficult to find one. I can't do track as the ceiling is too high up. I had tried Fo Sin, they don't have it. Any suggestion?

I don't mind customizing, any steel shop that you know does that?

Hi People, would appreciate if I can get some of your advise here.

I'm currently looking to customise my curtains. Does anyone have any comments on whether the fabric was imported from China / Belgium / UK / Spain etc? Obviously the one from China is the cheapest, but I'm kinda sceptic on it's ability to last in the long run. So hopefully someone who has experience with them please share your comments.

In addition to that, please share if anyone know places to get curtains who are imported from Belgium / Spain / Korea quality at reasonable price.

3 rooms with 1 normal window each
railing all available but need to do some maintainence

Is the quotation okay?
i think also highly dependent on material. on average the material price i chose is rm45 per m

Once i received full quotation i will post up but this is the written calculation i get today

Hi, my friend done the curtain this month in Kah Bee textile sdn. Bhd for day and night curtain.
He will use he wooden rods.

I think they offer the best price so far .
Last time I have done for my house double story link around rm1028.00 for whole house 2 years ago
But excluded the curtains rods . It come with day and night curtain .
I use metal roller/sliding type of rods for my curtain.

Hi, how about MK curtain, which is also at Nilai3? Anyone has comments about these 2?

Also, any other recommendation of curtains provider here?

All, need some opinion, for a landed Semi-Detached Double Storey house, how much (roughly) to have curtains for whole house? 5 Rooms, 4 Sliding Doors.

I was quoted about 4.7K (is this expensive or normal?)

Take their measurement and go shop like Kamdar, Nagoya and select cloth and ask them quote.
Then you will know whether it's expensive or not.

I went through a lot of this before, end up i went to One Utama Shopping Mall in PJ. Inside Parkson, there is actually a section for curtains. I thought it's going to be expensive, but in the end the cost is very reasonable, and quality + workmanship is superb. I recommended my sister the same, and she was happy with that too. Strongly recommend.

Total cost RM5,500 including installation etc
1) Master bedroom curtain
2) Living Hall curtain
3) Roller blinds for x3 bedroom windows
4) Blind for Kitchen window
All of premium quality, not the cheaper options usually get in fair..

Just to share my experience with MK Nilai.

We were at one of the fairs in Shah Alam last year, think is Home Livin, something like that.

We were quite impressed with MK set up at the fair and of course lots of sales girls / promoters there brows.gif After some introduction and recommendation of the fabric / design, we proceed to paid the deposit of RM 500 to locked the package.

The sales person did follow up call and we eventually made a trip to their show room in Nilai, it is huge and impressive though. After spending hours going thru all the fabric and we finally chosen and finalised.

The next appointment will be meeting at our house and also to meet our ID on the colors / fabrics as recommended, arrangement for measurement. That's the beginning of our nightmare, he did not turn up, called but did not pick up, not replying messages, and he is one of the Managers of the shop. blink.gif

At the end, we gave up and engaged another supplier and now we still holding the deposit. Bad luck kua!!

Since you already have the measurement, can do a 2nd set or buy other things from them.
The deposit is to lock in certain material curtain at discount price?

Hi sifu, i m installing curtains at my unit. I have a quote from MK curtain, not sure its quality, the price seems pricey to me...can one advise me if this is reasonable?

Curtain for condo renting only...

Go Nilai to compare. There is MK curtain there which appear very cheap to me.
But i think is a different MK curtain from the quotation where you get.

Just DIY la. Get it from ikea or any shopping mall.

actually the size from ikea is standard cant match the size of my living hall. If buy two sets to joint, i think it wont look nice and is already expensive...

Actually, the main pricey part of the quote is the material for living hall sliding door and a side window near to dining hall, is not literally at the dining hall. The price per meter is RM 71.40. The material for that price appears to be top notch when i visited their shop. Since i am just renting my unit out, i not sure if i should go lower price like RM40-50 or lower which i only safe about RM300-400...

His one is the onsite service. They go hse measure n plus install. I did my original one there but this year go their shop instead coz gt so call discount, more expensive than my initial cost though cloth price like 50% discount. Same material but different colour only.

Going other shop in KL or Nilai for survey. They play around with the cloth workmanship n calculation method. Many other shops do same thing, just need survey more for now.

Oh? I didn't check their price. Maybe you are right cause the shop that I saw was at Sri Hartamas - so you could imagine their target clients. Nevertheless, MK curtains was in my list before but I didn't go with them as their "consultant" was just too young and doesn't seem to be knowledgeable. I went with another one in Puchong. Price is super reasonable for me - if you are interested, you can PM me and I can share his contacts. Just let him know you know me and he could give you further discounts (not sure if that offer from him still stand. tongue.gif)

I went for MK, quality not bad.
We can only collect the curtain few days later. I think it depends on your quantity to determine how long you need to wait.

Hi all do you all think the quality of premium curtain rails (thicker aluminum, smoother) justifies the cost?

was comparing normal hardware shop Rm2.50/ft vs RM7//ft premium ones

Visited Fo Sin Aluminium at Jalan ipoh, indeed dirt cheap and good quality curtain tracks they provide. They don't provide full service but only curtain tracks and accessories, however the products they provide is good quality and durable.

You have to provide them the measurement and they will help you prepare everything. We just need to install them ourselves and of course buy our own curtain.

Overall, i spent less than RM 200 for my whole house curtain tracks. Rm800 for my curtain (bought from nilai)

Satisfied !

P.S. 2 curtain shop in PJ quoted my wife RM 1800 and above.

Doing some survey for curtains. Wondering if it is easy to DIY the curtain part since I am looking to save some money.

Or is there any curtain place that offers affordable curtain option?

And I do see most curtain places offer 80% blackout curtain...Is this a norm? Or should I go for 100%?

Well, get the railing from local retail to avoid dent or bend, curtain wise, measure ur window/sliding door, go shopee/taobao (taobao cheaper but need to wait), give them ur measurement and wait for it to arrive.

Just done mine recently, total approx. 8m width of windows, got total of 15m width curtains (get approx. 1.8x - 2.0x width of your windows), roughly RM200 for the curtains.

Blackout %% depends on ur preference, but I would advise to go for 80%-90% will do as our body cycle will need some lights to 'wake up' in the morning.
For 100%, once in a while will be good, i.e. staying in hotel for a few nights only

Quoted by someone on the curtain rail.
102 inch for medium room.
66 inch for small room.
Both is double rail (Day and Night curtain)
RM220 include installation.
Worth it?

Called them and they are affordable at RM35 per sf but requires a minimum of 50sf and they charge a RM500 installation fee. Unfortunately I only require 22 sf of coverage so I am trying to negotiate with them to include other type of curtains. If there's anyone looking for the same "ziptrak-like" outdoor blind but doesn't meet that 50sf minimum, I am more than happy to share it with you! smile.gif

Your house got sewing machine? If got then you can definitely DIY since fabric cost is actually very cheap. Plenty of our curtain in current house were DIY by my wife. But it wouldn’t be as straight as the one you buy from the shop because they have a sturdier sewing machine.

One of the cheaper option I know is to buy fabric from Tewah and ask them to sew for you at a fraction of the cost charged by curtain shop.
