Was gonna buy N53, because it can install up to 16GIG of ram for multimedia work.

The new N-series coming out has GT555 graphic card, but it seem to limit to 8GIG of ram only....wonder if they will make models that takes 16GIG of Ram like the current N-series do?

They will make models like N53SN in the future..just dont know when. But i think 8GB should be sufficient unless you love to open 10 Adobe PS at one time..then yea you need 16GB.  hmm.gif

I see....I need a new laptop within 2 months, so not sure I can wait too long. I like the idea of 4 slots cuz I do work with big PS files ...and I can use a lot of memory. But 2X8gb ram cost more than I can afford, so if new model that will be out in a month or so only has 2 slot...not sure I'd get it.

I will make a decision to just go for current model of N53 or not soon....

thx

What kind of security program do you recommend, if I plan to use N53 in public cafe or airport with WiFi? I already use firewall and Avast anti-virus, are those enough?

Firstly, if the authentication of any WiFI is "Open Authentication" , where anyone can connect to it. . I'm sorry to say but even the bestest best FW is not going to help you when you're transferring confidential data.

I see....so there is no safe way when the WiFi is Open Authentication

If you like it hot (I mean the laptop temperature gets hot, not the deal), get yourself a HP.

I opened up my N53SV, it has 4 slot of memory. Now it has 1 X 4GB chip in there. I want to install more memory in this thing.

I heard you should only install memory in pairs. Can I just buy 3 extra and add to it?
Or I should take out the one already in there and put in matching pair? Because mixing different
brand is not good? The one in there now is only 1066 it seems, and I want to get 1333.

thx in advance

yeah dont mix different brands, not a good idea at all as it will make everything sluggish probably........
you can mix 1066 and 1333 but that is useless as it means that only 1066 will be used
(because it is the least powerful one). You should buy another 4gb of memory (stick to 1066 in my opinion)
and put it in one of those slots, so you'll have 8gb.

I'm very surprised it has only 1066 Mhz, for N53SV.....u sure??? bc official site states 1333Mhz.... weird

You're right, it's 1333. I was looking at the label, it has numbers like 10600S. But then I googled the model number (Hynix HMT351S6BFR8C), and it's 1333.

I'll remove it and get a matching pair still like you said. Thanks!

When I type email or even writing reply like this here, sometimes the mouse cursor jump to last paragraphy and highlight the first word for me. So I have to undo the changes, and move the cursor back down to where I was typing.

Why is this happening? How can I stop this? It's happen quite often already. I am sure my hand doens't touch the touchpad, only the keys, but the cursor seem to jump by itself sometimes.

thx
