yeap didnt regret one bit. biggrin.gif and not even near home, I'm literally at home! haha.

the salary is almost 50% decrease from what astro offered me, but being at home gave me a peace of mind. I never worried one bit about money.

I have a friend whom I supposed to join together on that day. She's working as a tester, automation one I think. She said, its pretty good. Well ada life la she said, also not so stress some more. The manager and seniors also seems nice and friendly, since I met them in the interview, which lasted about 2 hours.

I am an ex-astrolite. Benefits wise, i can say its quite good.

15%-16% epf contribution from astro (2 years ago, not sure now)
Free astro (1st account), 2nd and 3rd account will be rm50, deducted from salary if u decide to take. All channels except astro best, astro first and some other channels.
Meal allowance of rm70
Annual leaves 22 days, mc 60 days
Outpatient treatment covers spouse and kids
Hospitalization also covers spouse and kids
Flexible benefits (accumulated points can be converted into cash i.e. to buy handphone can claim back provided u have enough points)
Performance bonus depends on the company's performance of course. I've got mine 3 months bonus for 2 consecutive years. This year i dont think they're doing good.

Environment wise is also good. More to Gen Y environment especially in Astro Radio. Food in cafe is also good. Always have events. Celebrities coming in and out. People are generally good but if you're in Sales department, be prepared. They have sky high expectation. Overall, i like the company and the people i worked with. But because of some idiot that i cant stand, i decided to go.

Go ahead and join if you've got the offer. Trust me, u will learn a lot, including the office politics and drama.

mana2 pon sama the politics part. I worked in HSBC, PayPal and now in government based organization. Everywhere the same. you just need to know how much to set your expectations/hopes. dont always be optimistic, some pessimism is a must.

my friend in astro is happy no prob etc, currently almost 6 months since she joined Astro.

In my opinion, yes its all worth it. When I joined, my salary was so much lower. After a while, my boss decided to revise my salary as the workload worth more than what I earned. Workload was crazy, i broke down into tears because too many things on my plate, i came back to work 3 days after I got married, I was doing office work during my maternity leaves and a lot more. It does sound crazy right? For me, if can survive in Astro, i can survive anywhere. You get to see many things in Astro. Lots of different characters. Like their tag "macam-macam ada"

I quit because I was exhausted and the lack of leadership, was some of the push factor. After all, everybody deserves a break after working their a$$ off.

If any of you got an offer, just go for it. Go in, learn and leave. If you want to stay there forever also can. Lols.

true, politics is everywhere
but astro is politics + cowboy style
no proper process flow, no proper paperwork and SOP, have to bow down to whomever of higher pangkat or bigger fists

if u got the chance to talk with ex-PM from there, u ll get "interesting" stories

over there if ur rank is Associate or Snr Associate, ur life is still good, u get to escape a lot of stupid politics and dramas, for AVP and above is a different game altogether.

overall, astro is still a good place to earn steady income, i suggest whoever going in, just clock in and out on time, no need to chase for the ever changing KPI, no need to "go beyond", although u will kiss the bonus and career path goodbye, but you can spend the after office hour for some part time such as insurance agents or Uber, the side income will still be more than ur bonuses

Left Astro for Oil and Gas since 2013.
Though short working experience at Astro ( < 6 months), the surrounding and environment is pretty challenging.
As some say, office politics are always there, above average benefits, celebrities are ins and outs and for me, its a positive working place to be at.

Amanda Lim,

Did you end up with ASTRO GS Shop? If yes, can share how's the working environment especially the colleagues? I got call by ASTRO headhunter TOO. But contemplating whether to join.

Is it a good company to join? Anyone please feel free to feedback.

QUOTE(amandalim @ Feb 16 2015, 06:10 PM)
Have been approached to go for interview at a new joint venture between Astro and South Korea's GS Home Shopping, called Astro GS Shop Sdn Bhd (AGSSB).
Does anyone have any info regarding this new company? Will the benefits for this new company be the same as Astro?

Thanks!
