*
Really? What I know is that if on UB68 plan, can't use the domestic roaming. Perhaps your credit is deducted?

i dont top up extra credit, i just top up exact amount to activate the U68 only, my apn set = my3g, Modem setting is auto ,.

then the celcom 2G network pop out automatically and auto connect even,..

and very consistent speed on 128kb,..
*
interesting.. Then what do u mobile mean by not be able to connect while on domestic roaming? Hmmm.. Maybe that applies to U broadband postpaid users whose sim card is a data only sim card?

anyone experiencing sudden data disconnection, and then failing to connect around 20 minutes while roaming on celcom network? I've experienced this for a month and wondering is it my phone or the network problem. But before this (was using maxis), nothing like this occured. This convinced me that my phone has no problem. Anyone experiencing this can share with me? Thanks.

network will show unstable when it dingdong on roaming, did it happen in a full bar UM3G area?
*
when on um3g, everything works perfect just like it should.. even when signal is low.. but when i'm roaming on celcom, at first it can connect and later after that, it will disconnect and failed to connect for around 20 minutes.. then after that it can reconnect again.. did u ever experience this?

it is very annoying.. especially when i'm chatting and suddenly goes off and i have to wait for 20 minutes.. I don't think its my area though coz I'm in Bandar Baru Nilai and recently, i went to jb and preferred to stay on celcom network coz can save battery life.. it happened again.. so its not because of my area..

U're not alone.  tongue.gif
Sometimes I even can't get EDGE connect when roaming, sometimes no problems.Don't know what happen in celcom roaming network. And previously my phone will show a small 'R' when roaming on celcom network, but recently I found that under some Celcom network, the little 'R' disappears.  tongue.gif
*
That means it is the network at fault.. I thought its my phone coz no one raise this issue here.. I reformatted my phone and still the same.. what do u do if it failed to connect? In many occasions, I restarted my phone, go offline and online again, but still cant connect.. The only solution is to wait unsure.gif

I never count how long the connection could be back, actually it will get connection automatically suddenly without any reboot.weird...I think maybe a few cell towers can't handle the data roaming well so that sometimes it may wrongly reject the data roaming request.
*
I need the data roaming to be consistently working coz my area here in nilai, the um3g is very weak.. Gotta lodge a complain to u mobile.. But so far only I and you have this problem.. maybe it is our phones? nod.gif

I don't think so.I'm using Nexus One and I tried it on Nokia 5800 and iPhone4 to,also having the same issue.I think in KL,the 3G coverage is quite ok and so not so many ppl are complaining on it.
*
ya right.. Maybe.. Anyway, going to complain to u mobile.. Hope they resolve this matter.. Thanks for sharing btw smile.gif

i notice this too during my trip at penang. It's full bar on 2G network and then a while it show no line at all.
while in 3G area in penang then this doesn't happen at all.
and this happen intermittently..that prevent me to port to umobile..and only using umobile as secondary line.
hmmmm..hope someone wil complain to umobile..
*
what i meant here is the data connection.. Not the network signal.. The network signal is fine.. I can call or sms.. But connecting to the internet is the problem.. Did u experience this?

hi guys... i'm seeking an opinion or two regarding U Mobile. Price wise, it looks reasonably priced..  I'm planning to get Voice & Data Plans U Lite (RM68).

I've been a stubborn Digi customer for donkey years.. since 1997 I think. But I have to admit that I'm (finally) calling it a day. The coverage and strength hardly came on par with other telcos. Either I'll lose 3G at certain area (even in my own house at Kinrara it fluctuates!!). Plus Digi is also famous for "zero coverage" in enclosed areas.. sometimes 'no line' in shopping complexes.. .frustrating! imagine no line at certain parts of Pavilion or The Gardens? Its a joke.

So..... main questions. How's the coverage and strength of U Mobile? 3G as well. Hopefully you guys can give me your honest opinion.. and don't tell me to go thru hundreds of pages in this (and other) topic.

Thanks a bunch smile.gif

Hi.. i'm a little confused. Why are you guys roaming with Celcom? In M'sia? Would there be additional charges?

Thks.
*
regarding 3G signal, to be honest, u mobile has limited coverage compared to maxis or celcom or even digi. However, they are rapidly expanding their 3G network. I've been using u mobile prepaid for the past 2 months now since i ported from maxis to u mobile. This is because of the unlimited mobile internet which is simply irresistable. So far, everything works perfect and satisfying except if you use the internet in 2G network. Read my previous posts here to see what i mean.

Speaking about 2G network, the thing that you are confused about is the domestic roaming on celcom network. U mobile has only its own 3G network. They hv no 2G. So in order for its customers to get nationwide coverage, they allow us to log onto celcom network when there are no 3G signal in that particular area. This is their 2G network. Charges are the same. There are no extra charges for roaming on celcom. You will see the CELCOM network on your phone but you are definitely still on U. I hope this explains everything you need to know smile.gif

u hav a choice to use your fon as a modem/mifi or just buy a usb modem

i would advice u try out using your fon  as a modem and if the signal is good, buy a usb modem for about rm100+/- (new)

Hello fellow forumers.. I have a problem here with U Mobile.. Last month I used up my 5GB quota (subscribed to MB68) and they throttled down my speed.. After the expiry, which is 2 weeks ago, I renewed my subscription (MB68 again) but my speed is still throttled. I got around 112kbps download and upload. I thought they will take time to reset my speed but until now, two weeks already, my speed is still the same. very2 slow. I called CS 3 times but the answer is always 'wait'. Just now got fed up and called them and scolded them. But still, same speed. Why is it so hard for them to just reset it? Anyone facing this problem? how to tell them to reset my speed? Its been 2 weeks with this same crappy speed and I couldnt take it anymore sad.gif

You are having problem exactly like what I had. You can check my prevous post and other's reply on that.

1. Well, you need to put on a thick face and call them EVERYDAY until they give the back the normal speed. That's what they want, you just give what they want. They want you to bug them everyday becoz they enjoy listening their customer scolding, they even record your scolding so they can do repeat listening. Welcome to Umobile Club.

2. I am serious about my first suggestion, you need to call them until they give back the normal speed. But your best choice it to get a second SIM card to rotate. PM Digilife for the tips.

3. I find out myself that when your  30 days expire, do not immediately re-subscribe, you will get the trottled speed.  Wait for about two week after expire then you will get the normal speed when you re-subscribe. Weird huh? Welcome to Umobile club.

Those are among those thing you need to expect when you become a Umobile club. member.
P/S: I am really pissed off when writing these. Talk about that later.

UM CSO sucks, I too scolded them abt my quota and its better to use 2 different MB68 sims and let the "first one die naturally" after the 5GB . usually after abt 7 days it will be reset back to "normal" when it expires
*
Thanks u guys for the tips.. I'll get one more sim card then.. U mobile should try to solve this problem.. It is very difficult for their customers to get 2 sims and frequently change it.. seriously, u mobile has a lot to do to be one of malaysia's main telco service..

2G data connection has problems too.. now I can't get connected at all when on celcom network.. shakehead.gif

Rebate comes 1-2 hours later.

You watch streaming video with 500mb plan? I can't wait to see how long 500 mb last and whether you going to say their price is cheap after that.
*
It is obviously cheap compared to other telcos such as Maxis which charges RM68 for 500MB and not even unlimited..
