Guys, a question not really related to online order status, but I'll ask it anyway.

I use Direct Access/CIMB. Although Apple charged me RM159 for Smart Cover and RM1,899 for iPad 2 16GB 3G model, my credit card statement shows RM160.xx for Smart Cover and RM1,914.xx for iPad 2. When I asked, they said that this was 1% (or 0.8% depending on amount) "admin" fee. Applies to any overseas transaction where the billing party is located outside of Malaysia, although Apple billed me in RM as I can see from their e-invoice.

CIMB says this is standard banking industry practice in Malaysia, and this "admin" fee is levied by all banks for overseas transactions. I doubt them, so I'm asking you guys - how much were you guys billed for your iPads? Exactly the amount as stated in the online store, or hit by a higher amount like me?

If you paid the exact amount, please state which bank so that I can dump CIMB and their crappy practices to save money. The damned iPad 2 bought online cost me RM19 more! shakehead.gif

Thanks.

I also kena extra charge, I think this apply to CIMB card only, I call CIMB CS, the representative said this amount is from apple. I think the representative also lazy to check or something about the transaction. I going to complaint to CIMB for this extra charge.

Hate to break it to you, but the fine print on the reverse side of your statement should explain this, which I was never aware of till now doh.gif

So complaining to them is pointless and a waste of time. You can maybe lodge a complaint with Bank Negara though, to see if they got the balls to do anything.

So, we get screwed twice - one for the exchange rate, and another time for this admin fee. Sodo-mee, anyone? tongue.gif

You can argue back that you purchase from Malaysia Apple Store.

However, it is true that a SG company is the one who invoice for your Ipad.

I have tried, using 2 credit cards and they charge me the exact amount as stated in apple store.

CITIBANK PLAT VISA -> Bought 2 Ipad, no extra charge
MAYBANK PLAT 2 CARD : AMEX -> Bought 1 Ipad, no extra charge
Guys, thanks for sharing, now I know who to do banking with, and it shows that CIMB's call centre people are outright liars, because I asked the person on the line a couple of times, and he said yes, this is a banking industry practice vmad.gif
