According to my architect, there is no restriction on side setback, you can build up to your boundary wall.

But my neighbor just called me...and according to him "...with confirmation from MBPJ pengarah" theres a 10 feet requirement

he thinks my new column for the bedroom extension is too close to his house...its about 3-4 feet

I know front and back def got set back requirement, but side?

fyi its a bungalow lot. I cant find any info from the MBPJ site at all

From what i know, side is about 10ft (from main road) if you are end lot. But since you are bangalow lot, so is really not too sure is there any set back requirement in between neighbor. But i think should be no need, not too sure.

If u're extending front yard to the main road, which may take the provided space for facilities then u need to consult with MBPJ beforehand, which usually ends in objection.but if thats backyard, as long as the space is within ur house region, theres no harm for that.

For DBKL:

side,rear set back 3050mm.
front setback 6100mm.

for end lot facing main road, side set back is 6100mm.

MBPJ may be difference tho..

if there is a rule against it. so the neighbour has a right to complain.

for semi-D as per MPKJ requirement, the setback for side - 10 ft, back - 7ft. I beleive it's the same for Banglo. Normally people will push it but will leave a few feet (e.g 3-4 ft setback) so that they won't upset their neighbour.

its 10feet and to be honest. if my neighbour would violate that space (for which i paid good money ... i dont want my neighbours to be so close to my place) i'd also complain and try to put a stop to it. if i'd like to be that close i'd stay in a link house. i know many people try to push it but if someone really wants to complain it's really bad - you will have to remove the structure if the neighbour insists on action beeing taken. rules are rules. furthermore it would be impossible to get such a plan approved as its a violation already. authority would thus be able to take action on owner at any time right?

WEll...rule is rule, follow it better that people complain and endup need to remove the whole thing.
Just imaging if a Wall attached to kitchen, and it have to be removed off due to complained, it will cause you a lot of time and $$$ too.

That the reason even Sharing same wall but I still insist the contractor use my own place instead of assuming neighboor OK....
