It's not pellets. It's just dead plant leaves sticking to the wall.
That gadget comes empty without carbon and sponge. Both sold separately.
Regarding air pump issue, that filter is blowing bubbles. The bright patch is the water. So is that "air pump"?
If i add light, green algae will form, can otto clear the algae in such a small tank?
And will planting moss as wall help to + oxygen  supply?

Very true. I'm not marimo pro, but I know some bout filters. Depending what you want it for. To keep PH stable, the bigger the tank, the easier. The main trick not to let PH level getting too high is avoid putting in too much fishes. Especially if it's a small tank.

As for filter, like what r3apers said, ceramic rings, bio balls etc all helps. But when you start it, leave the tank empty, keep the filter running with all its ceramic, sponges and stuff for minimum 1 week. I usually let it run more than 2 weeks. It helps building bacteria that eats ammonia. Which helps reducing acidic levels.

For a tank size like yours, best use a hang filter. I assume that plastic box you have there gives off bubbles and push a small part of water into it making it some kind of filter? If you want to keep that, add a air stone to the air pipe you have there. It works better and helps adding air into your water. Big sized bubbled does not help much. If you plan to buy the hanging filter, you might find it very small and you can hardly add anything beyond what it comes with originally. Just ignore that part, remove what you don't need. Stuff all those ceramics, carbon, sponge into it, make sure the sponge covers at least 50~60%, others in small partial. Works wonder when it stables up.

the tetra neon fish tank looks empty coz i have taken out the fake plant. Why? one of my fish committed suicide between the roots.

Can i place my marimo inside the fridge everyday??.. .then take out for photosynthesis. ..then put it back inside the fridge?. ..my fridge is about 10c--++......because water temp at my place is about 30c++-- in a fish tank with filter circulation and aeration.. ..although FAQ state that marimo can last until 35c but most probably marimo will turn yellowish lor.....  .....
