Thank you for the advice

It's not pellets. It's just dead plant leaves sticking to the wall.
That gadget comes empty without carbon and sponge. Both sold separately.
Regarding air pump issue, that filter is blowing bubbles. The bright patch is the water. So is that "air pump"?
If i add light, green algae will form, can otto clear the algae in such a small tank?
And will planting moss as wall help to + oxygen  supply?
*
algea mostly come with dirty water and ur fish die mayber ur water PH level is not so stable~! try to wash ur tank every 4-5days half tank untill ur PH level is stable... u can buy PH Kit test for testing the PH level... and u need to get a good filter...as leeyung said hanging filter will be good for ur tank... those biological filter is good for plant and to purify the water to be more fresh and odor less depend wat type of filter media u put on.... i.e ceramic rings, active carbone, bio-balls, gravel stone and etc...but mostly active carbon and coral stone will do the job... now mostly hanging filter will come 2gether with active carbon depend wat brand u purchase..

Just my opinion~! icon_rolleyes.gif

I want a tank with fish and marimo.
I have a sponge inside, and the thing blows air in the water.
So i guess i should get carbon and remove the rock?
*
u better get a proper filter...u using now is for basic use only.... it will get dirty easily...so better get a nice and easy to maintain like hanging filter... tongue.gif

QUOTE(Kinci @ Aug 5 2011, 06:17 PM)
Very true. I'm not marimo pro, but I know some bout filters. Depending what you want it for. To keep PH stable, the bigger the tank, the easier. The main trick not to let PH level getting too high is avoid putting in too much fishes. Especially if it's a small tank.

As for filter, like what r3apers said, ceramic rings, bio balls etc all helps. But when you start it, leave the tank empty, keep the filter running with all its ceramic, sponges and stuff for minimum 1 week. I usually let it run more than 2 weeks. It helps building bacteria that eats ammonia. Which helps reducing acidic levels.

For a tank size like yours, best use a hang filter. I assume that plastic box you have there gives off bubbles and push a small part of water into it making it some kind of filter? If you want to keep that, add a air stone to the air pipe you have there. It works better and helps adding air into your water. Big sized bubbled does not help much. If you plan to buy the hanging filter, you might find it very small and you can hardly add anything beyond what it comes with originally. Just ignore that part, remove what you don't need. Stuff all those ceramics, carbon, sponge into it, make sure the sponge covers at least 50~60%, others in small partial. Works wonder when it stables up.

Good Point for that~! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

And regarding the Shanda filter. I dont want it to blow the water till like Redang wave. How to stop it?
Make sure the water is lower than the outlet kah?
*
err....i think a bit too much...ur air pump can set low & high? if can set to low...if the photo is low thts mean u bought a powerful air pump unless u use long tube air stone... and better buy a air valve to protect ur air pump...

filter is Shanda. Got pipe sambung it. I think is the " in" pipe.

Raper, what is air valve?
If pump put higher, safer?
*
air value is a thing tht disallow the water to run back to the air pump if got any power failure or else...
it doesnt mean put higher is safer...if the bubble too strong the fish also will stress out becoz harder to swim around....iit depend how big is ur tank and how many fish u put into it... for ur tank size and seem not much of guppy better put low pump....whn u purchase air pump u better get wat the quantity u have or buy those air pump with low, med & high switch...so u can adjust the level of the air coming out from the pump... and of course need to maintain ur pump...clean onece in a while and check got any water run back to the air pump (if u didnt put the air valve, as i have been detroying three air pump already as didnt put the air valve sweat.gif )...
