I have heard that marimo grow slower than it is in a very high current area, is that true? because i have my big marimo right below the water outlet of the filter.

nah lol..
just give them adequate light and good water parameters is enough i guess.

IMHO, to make the marimo pearling intensively meaning you need good lighting like those in planted tanks (6500K ++ with high watt) and a good dose of CO2, which can be costly. I did that because i thought it would make them grow faster, but it didnt  doh.gif
For me as long they are healthy green, retain its aesthetic looks and not dead, im quite happy with the way it is.

mine,  very small bubbles doh.gif , wished the bubbles are bigger:

i wonder how those farms breed them eh? they must use some kind of advance algae-cloning device ?
*
me too, i really want to know how those farm get them to grow, or maybe they just take the marimo from the nature?(e.g. russia)

i am interested in knowing how the farms grow marimo... and I dont understand why people call german marimo as fake marimo. They are the same species as the marimo in japan. What is is different is the growing environment. And most of the large marimos are from german or russia. Even if you go to Hokkaido, those large marimos they have for sale are also from russia (They claimed that those are nature marimo from russia)

hurm, good point, and i cant deny it.
well, like you said, need to trust the seller and their customer feedback's since
i dont know how to differentiate between Japanese marimo and European ones.
and nvr been to Hokkaido before to see for myself for the russian marimo's claim but ive seen myself one shop selling lake balls in UK claimed getting from scandinavian countries lake and they sell it for £30 each..damn bloody expensive hehe nod.gif and their colour are really dark green  but fresh hmm.gif
different growing environment i guess?

*
they are the same species but just different growing environment. I have bought few marimo from the same store, and i put them into 2 different tanks, put 2marimos in a tank with guppy fish and strong sunlight, and the other 2 marimos in a shrimp low light tank. After a half year the two marimos in the high light and strong nutrients have dark green colour and long fur, the one in low light tank looks very fresh green and short fur.

two of my marimo start to turn yellow... Temp is 22C, and i change water every 2 weeks
I was trying to use the evian mineral water, would that be the reason why they turned yellow?
and will my marimo recover?sad.gif
