Here's mine. Keeping it in slight harder water and temperature of 28C. Have more than 30 in different sizes.

When cleaning, gently squeeze out the dirty water and slowly roll it a little between your palm. Then it'll float when you put it back into the water.

Just ensure that you move your marimo around whenever you can, to ensure that they get sufficient light on all sides.
And yes, the discolouration will happen when water temperature is a bit warm. I keep mine in an aquarium with a fan to cool the water to 28C. |

Not easy to keep shrimps if you are inexperienced. Need to ensure good water quality and that your tank and its filter is fully cycled first.
