I confuse about the fishes I want to purchase to put in my Marimo Aquarium..

for now I'm Considering

Bulldog Pleco
Otocinclus Pleco
Betta Fish

I still cnfuse bettwen Bulldog or Otocinclus..
and I don't know if Cold water are suitable for Betta Fish..
usually my water temperature can reach between 16-25 Celcius

and do I need to put any freshwaterplant there? O_O
I read that Oto and Betta love some fresh water aquaticplants inside the aquarium.. well I want to put a little like some on the edge of the aquarium, for their resting place/home.. . But I confuse when I brows there are so many kind of Fresh Water aquaticplants.. maybe I need to choose the Low Light one too? the same as Marimo need.. O_o

It's winter here where the temperature drops to about 2-5C at night, but I see my LFS keeping betta in unheated containers. They seem to do alright though. That said, most of the sites I checked dont recommend anything lower than 22C.

Unless you plan on keeping the light dim, I think you should be able to use any kind of tropical plant. You can use tall plants (grasses?) for betta since it mimics their natural habitat.

in my country, the wheater is tropical forever (yeah I want to see snow..snow...snow..sigh)
so thats why I often put my marimo in the fridge...
do Betta can survice in chlorine water?
do you have any pleco fish too with ur betta?
I'm thinking of small Peco (Otocinclus)


I read that it's suitable for small aquarium because of its size..

I use Low Light Lamp level... is tall plant can be use with low light lamp? Because many tropical plants need high Light for their health..

moss will do fine with low lights. but they will eventually outgrow your marimo..and in my cases,
envelope some part of the marimos and prevent them to get sufficient light.
but you can make the moss grow light carpet on the gravel, while you tie the marimo to make it looks floating using fishing wire ..lol..
ive always wanted to do that..but not enought space and budget haha

Marimo become carpet., XD i cant see my round marimo being flattened щ(ºДºщ)
Looks like need so many effort and muney for that XD
Maybe am gonna buy betta fish first then >.<
many feedback that betta is not so hard to be taken care of?

I have interest in growing the moss..XD but my aquarium's decorations haven't fixed yet..still need changes..

anyway..got my Betta...named him Hiki~ maybe he still around 3 months old...
Seems like he isn't really comfortable with Bigger Marimos..
He doesn't want to swim next to the SuperGiants
and yet he Loves to swim around next to filter pipe even he got pushed away by the air flow, and (keep swimming closer to the filter pipe again after that) try to photo him next to the marimo..but seems he realized when I want to take photos of him =.=" He swam to the back of the aquarium after tat..

*CORRECTION*
he seems try to move closer the the Super Giants..then not so long he moved away..
IDK is it maybe my lamp is too strong for him...or he doesn't comfortable with the area..he loves to stay in the edge of the aquarium next to the filter pipe...

Hmm to be precise its a super delta. However its possible to have hm or ohm siblings if he breeds with female of 8 rays caudal fin .

If in Malaysia you can easily get in a range of RM8 - RM25 for one. It really depends on the quality, some sell very cheap because of afew deformed finnage or its body or fin grow unproportionate/unbalance.

oh~do u know where or any pet shop around wangsa maju or kl that sell indian almond leaf or daun ketapang...? i just want it to make my betta live happily ~~

Hehe i think its enuf talking about betta here. This thread is about Marimo but Betta and Marimo certainly looks good together aren't they? Azure's pic really nice. Anyway I dunno if there is any shop selling daun ketapang in Malaysia as you can see them grow everywhere. To find out how the tree and leaf looks like just google search with image option

Given that Hokkaido Marimo originate from Japan and live with us here in Malaysia, "Fridge Spa" considered very luxurious for them oredi LOL

my Health isnt so well lately..still in cure process>.<
and my Betta : Hiki-chan got sick too, With his behaviour that often scratching his body onto the gravels, looks like he got itch/fungus..his colour is paler too.... so I immediatly quarantine him, but yeah he is fine now:) healthy and love to eat! heheheh... and somehow I wondering maybe He loves the small Jar more..I also add the Photos of him making so many bubble nest there..=="

Hiki is an Halfmoon Betta^^
He alil bit shy, love Dry Worm, hate pelet! He phoooeeww every pelet that I gave him =__=" I give up, give the Pellet to neon tetra now..the Tetras is in my smaller aquarium .
now He's adapted to Marimo too
He often swim on the marimos,and sometimes he loves to hide between the Super Giant too
one of my Giant became his favourite place to rest, he lay his body on the side of my Giant^^
anyway, bought Albino Cories too.. I want to meet Hiki with the Corries, hopefully they can be friends .

I think Bettas here got variation Prices
I bought the cheaper one.. he's around 3-4 months old..
What I bought is Thailand Bettas, I see the Bigger Bettas (the seller said it's from Japan). the Size is much bigger than mine. It's around 75.000 rupiahs..
Some Bettas that being keep for Fish Show/competition is way more expensive..
but I think in the end, the result is all depend on the way you're taking care ur Bettas
