Hi all,

I'm a fresh graduate. Just got an offer from Plexus Penang as a software Engineer.

May I know about the career prospective in plexus? Is that a good place/platform for a fresh to learn?

The offer I received as below:

4.1K Per Month. (Is good for fresh, but that figure come out because of my educational qualification is quite high)
usually one month bonus for an engineer + one more month depend on performance. I got an offer from other OEM company as well which is higher than what Plexus offer me, but I prefer the job scope offer by plexus. Plus, working in OEM, the stuff we learn can be quite focus and narrow, is that true??

Do they offer any RSU to the employee??

As a fresh, money is not the main factor i should consider for now, but i wish to go in a place with a great opportunity to learn.

So all the seniors here, please advise. I get ready to take the flames.

Thank alot.

Hi friend,

No harm to try it. Not matter what company u working for, i believe u can learn the knowlege and gaining experience there. After u trying, then only u know it is suitable for u or not.

By the way, may i know what is ur specialised and ur interested?

Thanks.

I believed I'm not at the right position to talk about specialist. I can only talk about interests as a fresh graduate.

I interested in Digital Design/Embedded System

Then, u should give a try. I think Plexus's job is quite challenging if u really interested in these area.

Software Engineer is more towards application development.

While Digital Design/Embedded System are totally different kind of story.

Hi,

For some embedded design company, they call the firmware engineer as software engineer. Hence, our friend need to ask clearly about job scope. But i believe that it should be firmware engineer since our friend quite interesting regarding that job offered.

If you understand the job scope and you feel that it matches your skills set. You could give it a try to gain experience.

I got a friend who been there after graduated and it's going his 5 years soon.

Agree. I went for 3 interviews. 4 of the managers there seem very kind and friendly. So I assume that the enviroment there will be good and I will get a good training there.

Riverside.

Because 4.1k is almost like OnG field already. Last time I interned at Plexus, I heard the pay for engineers are only around 2.8k (fresh)

even for O&G who pays upwards of RM4.5k (thats like ~RM60k PA = USD17k PA)
you do realize that it is way below international market rate right

Nigeria fresh grads in O&G MNC gets USD50k PA... for locals
in US... mean average for engineering grad pay is USD45-60k PA.. Big 5 in O&G are paying 80-100k PA

and we are still satisfied with that sub USD10k PA???

I think the only reason why plexus is offering high is because it can't attract talent. Plexus is a cm company which obviously not a leader in any technology.

But Plexus not a bad place to work for a few years. Relatively new and beautiful kilang compared to the others in the area, also got lunch allowance to spend at their cafeteria

Thank alot.
