I thought you just ordered Alienware M14X from Dell recently lol.

I would personally go for LPC-Digital or Powernotebooks as I found out that XoticPC is offering higher shipping cost.
If you are staying in KL, then I suggest you to deal with mucro since they have a service partner in KL.

Yup currently own an m14x though dad was using . Returning it.. There was some kinda fault according to my dad. It wouldn't start after a crash shutting it down the first time . Dell reps are sending a courier too pick it up by this week . If it goes smoothly will b able to pick up a sager instead. And I'm only occasionally in kl so lpc is the way to go?

Take note that mucro/cubehub singapore doesn't offer taking out the ram to make the unit cheaper since it's fixed policy.

If you worry about warranty and less knowledge in maintaining the laptop hardwares, go for mucro/cubehub.

Thanks for the input there smile.gif

On the hardware side, if you are going to get a AMD HD6970M GPU, then Sager NP8150-S1 is your best bet. If you are going to stick with Nvidia Geforce GTX 460M, then Sager NP8130 is good enough.

I would say try to get a few quotations on shipping cost before making payments. For example, you can go to xoticpc, LPC-digital, Powernotebooks and customize your laptop according to your likes, then checkout the order and wait for them to quote you the shipping cost and total amount that you need pay. Then you will have a few to compare with before making your decision.

If you want to install your own harddisk and RAM, you can order from RJTech as they allow complete customization, you can choose which part to include in your laptop purchase.

For shipping case, USPS Express Mail International is the cheapest option, UPS is kinda expensive. Most of us ordered from U.S. chose USPS Express Mail International, tracking number will be provided by the reseller once your laptop has been shipped.

But, one thing for sure you need to be awared of is the warranty terms and conditions which most of the time if anything happens to your laptop within the warranty period, you need to send the laptop back to the reseller for RMA and you bear the shipping cost. If the fault is due to something small like harddisk, RAM or whatsoever is small, then you only need to ship the faulty part back to them which cut down your shipping cost a lot. Of course for the first time if you receive the laptop in a faulty condition, I'm sure they will cover the shipping cost and replace a new one for you.

thanks for the info. just another thing .. how long is the usual waiting time when ordering from the us? and if wanna send back for warranty normally use dhl or pos malaysia? thanks in advance.

Btw there is a 50 percent discount from all retailers fr the 95% gamut screen.
reason being that they are clearing old stocks which might have defects of dead pixels.

You ordered from LPC-Digital too?

@tjinn
Haha, I know LPC-Digital's shipping cost is lower than XoticPC a lot (by RM), that's why I recommend either RJTech or LPC-Digital. For laptop excluding harddisk and RAM, go for RJTech. For whole laptop, go for LPC-Digital. I'm not sure about Powernotebooks, never dealt with them before but they have a variety of laptop backpack to choose from.

I guess you ordered Sager NP8150-S1 that comes with AMD HD6970M. Quite decent, around RM6k.
*
Yea about there. 5.9k according to maybank rates yesterday. I mailed all of them including mucro n cubeasia. But lpc customer service was the best imo.
Did my homework this time also . No more impulse buys like my alw.m14x. Lol

Great. Hahaha, for such a decent specs for a decent price, I'm sure you can't get it from Alienware and Asus.
The only thing you need to worry about now is the glossy gamut screen, hope they have enough stock :>
*
Yea. The only reason I went glossy gamut was cause stock screen is out of stock . Lol

no budget, SSD too expensive for me, might as well spend on new gc if got money for SSD tongue.gif

i need moar space, i keep a lot of movies biggrin.gif
*
better get an external for that.
ssd decreases boot time and also loading times quite significantly.
once u used an ssd, you'll never look back.

Actually what amduser is right; better spend the money on something that's harder to obtain (the GPU) rather than an SSD.

Although I strongly suggest a SSD as well but laptop specific upgrades are the top of the list I think.
*
The cost diff between ssd n laptop gpus are quite big though. If u hv enuff money fr a ssd. U dnt neccessary hv the money fr a gpu. Bt of course like u said. Gpu upgrades are important. But if u hv a decent gpu tht still cn run most modern games. I'll say ssd first. Bt thats just my opinion. smile.gif

after my customisation at RJ Tech,Mucro SG,Power notebook and xotic pc all cost me 14 k  sweat.gif ,what do yuou think i should  change is it worth to upgrade for gtx 485m SLI from a 6970M crosfire?and any diff between normal wifi and bigfoot wirelles?
*
Go for crossfire. It scales better than tge sli. Though on individual cards the gtx485 is slightly faster. Bigfoot Is crap with poor drivers. Hope tht helps.

of coz la there is someone will be interested with matte screen nod.gif
anyway who in here like glare screen until u can see ur face on that screen  biggrin.gif
*
its a matter of personal preference.
its called glossy screen btw.. not glare screen...
normally if there are multiple points of interest on the screen you won notice your face in it unless its all black.
i prefer the glosst screen over the matte. well at least for me the colours look more vibrant.
