just got my P151EM1 from Horize, Australia.

It was awesome for the 1st few days but found some faulty memory module after that.

Force to send back to horize. This is what I got the next 2 days of delivery.

Hi,

I ran some tests on your machine overnight and they have brought up a number of RAM errors, I have replaced the RAM and am in the process of running more tests to make sure that has fixed the problem. We should be able to ship this back to you tomorrow.

I will keep you updated.

Kind Regards,
Logical Blue One

two silly questions,

1.Did anyone face heating issues with clevo machine within 2 years after purchasing?

2.What is the critical temperature for CPU and GPU in laptop.

1. mine using more than 1 year, no overheating problem and operates like normal.
2. This one quite varies. I think it's around 95'C for both, or the laptop suddenly shuts down due to overheating.
*
Thanks for the info. biggrin.gif

same with soundsyst64, no overheating problem. probably you need to clean the dust trapped in the laptop (trapped in the fans).
*
yeah, will probably learn how to do that so I can do routine cleaning to make sure my comp always in goooooooood condition. biggrin.gif

so hows the screen and the performance?

p151em1 was my first choice but being poisoned from 670m to 675 and now 7970m doh.gif
*
Performance was good. Able to run Crysis 2 (just nice) in extreme settings, but not battlefield 3.

Below are PC/3DMarks Screen Shoots

THX TruStudio Pro by Creative was really a powerful sounds enchanting software. It turns my Altec Lansing 2.1 into a much better speakers (better and heavier bass).
Furthermore, you really can feels the different of internal speaker with and without the software.

In fact, I was wondering around P150 and P151 too! But i'm out of budget for a better GPU. Therefore, P151 is my choice then!

how much total? this is awesome smile.gif you should post more about the temp when full load, noise and how does the keyboard feel smile.gif
*
AUD1595 or less then 5kRM I bought. The spec is in my lowyat's signature.

Keyboard
Never really use island-style keyboard, so no comparison was made. It does feels like using mechanical keyboard, feels slight back force after pressing. Feels definitely better then mushroom-cap keyboard (old tradition)

Fans noise
No significant noise for me(I dont know your definition of noise). But when playing games, can hear fans spinning noise significantly generated from right hand side. But it can easily cover up when I shoot some1 in COD:MW3.

Temperature
GPU hit 85 celcius when playing 45mins of Crysis 2 in Extreme Settings (forgot to print screen evident)

user posted image

GPU hit 54 celcius after 1 hour of carpet booming in COD:MW3 in Ultra Settings

user posted image

But it did a very good job in heat dissipation. It drop back from High Temp to 40+c RAPIDLY right after I shut down the program.

80-85'c in heavy games (crysis, BF3) is quite normal. I play BF3 in GTX460M, reaching constant 81'C in non-aircond room
It will drop to 44-46'C in idle (without games running)
If you want to hear the exact fan noise, press Fn + 1. It'll turn your laptop fan to full blast. biggrin.gif
*
About that... Fn + 1 for fan booster is now a history. But inactivate the mouse pad instead hmm.gif

is it just me or the display color look a bit washed out?

anyway, your laptop is just beside the sink? tongue.gif

gtx670m is using older technology so i guess the temp is quite normal?
*
Camera Fault!!! tongue.gif

Good question, but you are not the only one asking me that. I'm staying in college, room is small and my working table is attached to the water sink. I been staying here for 4 years long and no accident appeared. So I guess, not a big deal for me then. Plus, it is easy for me to grab a drink too! (Australian tab water is sweet, trust me rclxms.gif )

GTX 670M is Fermi, same as GTX 460. So I guess, its alright. flex.gif

worth to get it?

Its a college, only students, academic stuff and researcher stay in college.

I'm looking for mSATA SSD, I called to LBO, n they told me it is situated near to the CPU fan and quite easy to install. Therefore, I no need to sacrifice my DVD ROM! rclxms.gif

Performance RAM? Wont make much different if u already got 1600MHz i guess? noob me giving noob comment tongue.gif

better stick with SSD rather than take performance RAM.
take note that the only component that bottleneck the computer is standard HDD.

U put 32GB Performance ram but still use standard HDD, it won't improve much. smile.gif
*
Agree. No one actually need that much of RAM, unless you are doing something related to super high def picture/video editing or conversion. Or super multitasking (probably play music + FHD video + 100 more tabs in google chrome/firefox + play super exhaustive games at the same time.)

But SSD can really speed up your gaming loading time, windows on and off time, website caching, files transfer and etc(End of Thinking Capacity). Good stuff. rclxms.gif

I am so much attracted to this NP9150. The backlit keyboard allows me to work in the night with all the lights off. The three USB 3.0 ports (including the one combo with E-SATA) are good enough because the other USB 2.0 port is just for the use of mouse, so no biggy.

The Ivy Bridge (3rd gen i7 processor) and ATI RADEON 7970M are big plus.
Other than that, actually, the optical drive is kinda useless considered how often we use it, replacing it with a 2nd HDD or SSD would be good.
Anyway, the external thin optical drive is only USD 19. The only time we would use a DVD drive is to install windows and drivers or other software. Maybe everything can be done using an external hard drive too.
*
I would LOVE to take that too! But from NP9130 to NP9150 needs about 150AUD extra with the exact same specs (i7 +670M) and + another 200AUD for the 675M GPU =/

Furthermore, the default screen in NP9150 is just a normal one and NP9130 offer me a 95% gamut glossy screen upgrade without further charge.

U bought it from SAGER?

I just received a call from LogicalBlueOne (LBO, my reseller)

He told me the mechanics just finished running all the test, everything working fine except the RAM. They changes whole new set of RAM modules for me and will send back to me by tomorrow. Will probably get back my laptop by this friday biggrin.gif

@skeith - there's a reason why I didn't bought HDD and RAM directly from the seller. One of the reason; faulty RAM module which I have to send back to the seller for replacement. So, I bought those 2 hardwares at local shop and if got problem, can claim warranty quickly biggrin.gif
*
ooo... good decision!!

i bought it from the same reseller(LBO) as i currently in melbourne. smile.gif

they provide best service to me and price match with other store(Affordable Laptop). too bad i only go for 1 year warranty as my stay in australia is uncertainty :/
as above,im working in australia and the price from resellers are reasonable compare to US.
*
Yeah... according to whirlpool forum in Australia, they prefer LBO then affordable laptop too. One more thing, I was doing price matching btween affordablelap and LBO and I sent an email to LBO to see if they can give me a better price to beat affordablelap or not. This is what I get from then after that,

Hi,

Okay a few notes.

We no longer price match Metabox notebooks as there are some important differences that you should be made aware of.

1.      They are grey imports. Ours are from Horize and are a genuine builder of Clevo machines. If the other company goes out of business you will have no Clevo backed warranty.

2.      They use different components, we only use Seagate platter drives and Micron based memory.

3.      Ours comes with (as standard) the 95% gamut glossy display. Unless you plan to use this outdoors why not choose this one? It is even better than the matte display, and will save you the $59!

4.      We have zero surcharges for credit card or PayPal

5.      Did you know we are a full system builder and we do all the repairs as well. This means we don’t palm you off to someone else when you need to have repairs done or any technical advice. We are always here to help.

I hope you to choose to go with us as we always strive for customer service from day 1 to past your warranty expiry. Always here to help you.

Regards,

Jack Bovill
LOGICAL BLUE ONE
interesting huh?

As for the after sales warranty. LBO is pretty good! at least they answered whatever i asked biggrin.gif

Theoretically NP9130 is lowly powered due to the limitation of the power adapter.
I think you need a bigger power brick (power adapter) for more power to power up stronger graphics card.
As far as the chipset, I think NP9130 and NP9150 are the same --> Intel HM76
*
I know I know, I did survey before. NP9130 is 140W and 9150 is 180W biggrin.gif

Therefore i wonder what is the best i can get for 9130 biggrin.gif

and both machines are using MXM 3.0 Type B. In slot wise, both were compatible. In power wise... i'm not that wise.

Haha, DHL/TNT/Australian Post never failed me so far.

Bought Samsung 23" LED from Sydney to ACT, I received it by Aust Post in less 30 hours after payment made.

DHL, sent back my faulty laptop to them at 3pm, signed by Horize at 4pm next day.

LBO by TNT, a bit slower then those 2 mentioned. But never failed me so far.

Well, DHL and FedEX also ban LI-ON batteries, we do pay certain fee for inspection and approval that's why we still can ship DHL.

By the way, this is last year case.

I sent my iPhone 4 from Australia to Malaysia on March. They asked me if I can take off the li-on batt, but too bad I can't. Fortunately, they sent for me.

When the iPhone reach malaysia, it got suspended by the custom and wants my mom to pay RM100 for investigation/tax fees inorder to get the phone.

And then my mom get that few days after she paid the price. So, total up, 12AUD + 100RM, by DHL.
