Received my NP8170 yesterday. Didn't have much time to play with it yet, will be doing so this coming weekend.

Would recommend princej and illegear to anyone interested in Sager laptops. Princej has been helpful and the overall process was speedy.

Just a quick question, it ok to leave my browser (along with cache and temp files) on the ssd? Or would it wear much quicker because of this.

Welcome to the gang brother~ drool.gif

Ya you can install browser in your ssd and it can speed up the reading process. I did read some articles and they mentioned the storage speed can also affects internet browsing speed.

hey,wanna ask you guys' opinion:
i might be getting a new laptop which will most likely to be the Sager np9170,my specs is:
-i7 3610qm
-AMD radeon 7970m
-ic diamond thermal
-750gb 7200rpm hdd
-6x bluray reader/DVD RW
-intel centrino advance n 6235
-8gb 1600mhz RAM
-matte screen (if buy from xoticpc)

so my question is if you were me,will you buy from local reseller or xoticpc,
with these customization, local reseller price is RM6716,
while xoticpc is only US$1759 (approx. RM5629),

and i already found a shipping service on lowyat, which the total amount would be RM6215,still a lot cheaper than local reseller,

some more if i buy from xoticpc i can choose matte screen (as i don't like glossy),and i can upgrade the keyboard to steelseries one(which is just an extra option),

so what you guys think,or you guys have better idea,i need my new laptop's graphics card to be minimum 7970m and sager is the only one i can think of,or if you guys know cheaper shipping service ,please recommend me,Thanks!!!

I do remember there is about 10% california GST if xoticpc, sager or any other reseller ship to any place in US (the forwarder), unless you (the purchaser) has US reseller certification, I doubt any Malaysian has this certification lol rclxub.gif . Can't really remember who told this, but dropping the goods to forwarder definitely won't make your cost less, but make you more troublesome and risky instead. USD is also 3.2 now, so plan your purchase wisely.

Good Luck! thumbup.gif

ok,thanks for telling ,i didn't know about that before, but now even if i added the 10%tax + shipping fees,it is still cheaper than if i buy it locally, or do you know any other reseller from other country that is cheaper???

i don't feel like US price is cheaper than this, do some calculation, shipping is $300 per one way, T/T rate is RM0.05 per dollar plus RM30 from Malaysian banker plus $25 from US banker. Today's rate is 3.15, so RM3.2 in total plus the banker fee. Besides, if something really happens on your laptop, you need to use $300 + $300 to fix it, although you don't care, but something does happen, I guess the $600 can let u purchase a new laptop lol biggrin.gif
Anyway, no matter where you buy, welcome to our sager family icon_rolleyes.gif

same spec as above, i can get RM 6416 + USPS shipping to malaysia
TT transfer through Public Bank = RM 30 (wire charge) + RM 2 (commission). No charges once arrive on seller's bank account.

but it's all depends on person's preferences. My LAN port is now broken because kena lightning strike, but the laptop is in good condition and wireless still works biggrin.gif

There are always charges on receiver bank account, like $10 in aus and $25 in US. I think RJtech already absorb the cost in the laptop price.
btw, isn't USPS banned lion battery?

hey,i just noticed they added the matte screen option to the np9170 because last time i visit the site only glossy is available,if that's the case then i probably wouldn't consider buying from xoticpc anymore
*
Basically i believe they do have the matte screen, just the site was not fully updated, Xoticpc is sister company of sager, that's why they have the newest option info before they were launched.
