in my experience , ssd like..they give fast boot and fast shut down only...other than that i cant really notice lol

Try this:

Play around with your SSD abit. Then after awhile, switch back to your HDD. Only then you'd appreciate your SSD haha. I learnt it the hard way blush.gif

So far the best gpu that exist inside a laptop is what and in which model??
*
Actually, the Sager NP7280 / Clevo x7200 has GTX 485 SLI and desktop processors, so the M18x won't triumph.

Hey guys, have a read at this article.

http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110601VL204.html

Explains a lot what Clevo will release this year and next year, and what they have planned for us!

Highlights:

- 3D Versions of laptops (duh we know that)
- Refresh of the Clevo x7200 with desktop SandyBridge processors
- New chassis designs; special artwork for newly released Clevo machines. Keyboard and covers applicable, with interchangeable bezels.
- Special colours, i.e. Silver! biggrin.gif
- ARM support
- New netbook to be released later this year!
- Thunderbolt support with external graphics card choices like the upgradable GPUs in these laptops already!

no budget, SSD too expensive for me, might as well spend on new gc if got money for SSD tongue.gif

i need moar space, i keep a lot of movies biggrin.gif

QUOTE(tjinn @ Jun 2 2011, 03:31 AM)
better get an external for that.
ssd decreases boot time and also loading times quite significantly.
once u used an ssd, you'll never look back.
*
Actually what amduser is right; better spend the money on something that's harder to obtain (the GPU) rather than an SSD.

Although I strongly suggest a SSD as well but laptop specific upgrades are the top of the list I think.

I don't quite understand why Clevo/Sager doesn't use SB desktop processor.
i7-960 is an old processor. Besides, it's only SATA2 in this machine.
Mobile SB processors, i7-2720 and above, are generally faster than desktop i7-960.

As you need dual-GPU, you have to go for N7282.
Just my personal opinion, I have a feeling that Clevo/Sager is clearing the old stock of Nahelem before they release the Sandy Bridge.
If I were you, I just won't spend 13K on Nahalem. Just don't feel right to do so.

Added on June 2, 2011, 12:43 pm
Yes, the processor is upgradeable.
But it's Nahalem. I just don't see a point to upgrade Nahalem.
*
Well Clevo already has the SB Desktop revision for the X7200 incoming later this year. So that's gonna bump the price up a bit.

Quote from Notebookreview's LPC-Digital, USA Reseller:

As of September 4th, New Sandy Bridge CPU’s are officially Released!

Before… i7-2920XM….Now i7-2960XM Extreme
Before… i7-2820QM….Now i7-2860QM
Before… i7-2720QM….Now i7-2760QM
For Sager, i7-2630QM remains for now, no change.

The new i7-2640M, i7-2660QM, i7-2860QM and i7-2960XM processors are made using the 32nm technological process.

Intel Core i7-2760QM has 4 cores, 2,4 GHZ frequency. It benefits from 6 MB L3 Cache, 45W TDP and supports DDR3 RAM memory at 1,600 MHZ.
Intel Core i7-2860QM is also a quad core, with a 2.5 – 3.6 GHZ frequency in Turbo mode and 8 MB L3 Cache. Finally, the Intel Core i7-2960XM is the most powerful and it is part of the Extreme Edition family.
Core i7-2960XM Extreme quad-core microprocessor runs at 2.7 GHz, or 200 MHz higher than the i7-2920XM. The CPU has unlocked clock multiplier, 3.7 GHz Turbo frequency, 8 MB L3 cache, and it fits 55 Watt thermal envelope.

Hello again guys,

Clevo's releasing an AMD Fusion 14" Platform and I have the privilege of reviewing one of these with the benefit of having one sent to me for free, courtesy of Logical Blue One. They asked me to write another review up as they loved my previous review on the NP8150 before rclxms.gif

Specs:
AMD Accelerated Ontario C-30 1.2Ghz Processor
2GB DDR3 1333Mhz System Memory
250GB 5400RPM, Super-Multi DVD+/-RW Burner
14.0-inch HD LED BACKLIT (1366x768)
ATI Radeon HD6250 Graphics DX11 up to 1496mb with DX11 support

Look forward to a review of the AMD Fusion capable laptop soon smile.gif

(Still need to finalise my information with LBO first)

why NP 8180 dont have GTX 580m SLI
*
Clevo apparently design these with a 220W adapter...which frankly, can't hold the 580M SLi.

Some resellers however, offer extra choices.

How's everyone doing in this thread? smile.gif

New Sagers seem to be rolling like hot cakes...and I think these new ones are the most anticipated ones in its generation.

Just an update on the NP8150 I had on my review here in Lowyat; upgraded my GTX485M to a GTX580M smile.gif

got major difference between the 2 cards?
*
Quite a difference actually; runs much faster, is much cooler and less fan per cycle during idle. With this, I'm able to crank up higher settings on newer games e.g. BF3 was High-Ultra on the 485M and now I'm running almost all Ultra.

Did not regret my choice, although would've liked the newer generation Sagers with GTX675M

When did you upgrade? recently? or quite a while?

I think you already know about the 7970M right?  smile.gif
*
Upgraded about a month or two ago. Just keeping sort of enough horsepower to last for the future.

Haha yes of course i know abt the 7970M tongue.gif Ahhh...technology moves too fast sometimes.
