They will convert the USD amount to MYR according to that day's exchange rate, plus with MYR25 for the cable fee, that's all.

However, if you are buying from XoticPC, they will use an intermediate bank for wire transfer, which means your money go like this:

Your Bank (i.e. Maybank) --> Intermediate Bank --> XoticPC's Beneficiary Bank

The intermediate bank *some times* will charge some fee for their service, so it will deduct the service fee directly from the money you transfer, so at the end, XoticPC will receive an amount lesser, i.e. like in my case, it was USD21 short, and I have to use my credit card to make the USD21 balance to XoticPC.

If you know you will have to go thru an intermediate bank, you can either add in some extra amount while doing the wire transfer (USD20~USD30), I doubt they will refund you if you pay extra .... tongue.gif; or you can just wire the exact amount and wait for it to deduct the amount, who knows maybe you are lucky they doesn't charge you for the service fee ler? and if they do, you just top it up later after knowing the balance amount lor, of course this will be slow down your order process, your choice.
*
What is intermediate fee?

Our company wire to Sager bank never pay this kind of intermediate fee. All we pay is just the TT transaction fee + the premium the currency agent need to earn (usually is RM0.05/USD).

Before making any payment, I hope you are confirmed with your purchase from XoticPC as I mention earlier on, XoticPC could be the one offering the most expensive shipping cost. It is better to quote from powernotebooks and LPC-Digital.

Sorry for that, still a long long way to go since Sager doesn't have any expansion plan at all. That's our dealer job actually since Sager only focus on production.

I vote for kaspersky. I've been using kaspersky internet security for a long time, love the firewall and antivirus in it.
shocking.gif That's really lucky of you even though you ordered previously with GTX 460M. I guess they already replaced all their GTX 460M with GTX 560M before assembling your laptop  thumbup.gif
*
It is not lucky. All the orders with back ordered gtx460m will get gtx560m instead, since Clevo/Sager and all the resellers are not allowed to spread gtx560m news before nVidia announcement.

Hey guys.
I would like to know is there any heat issue regarding Sager NP5165 ?
It seems to have heat issue from what i read from notebookreview.com.

By the way, is it a good choice to build it with i7 2720qm with ssd?

I only do light gaming on flash games/online game, so will the unit serve me well?

Next, what is the average battery performance by using it with itunes, web browsing, microsoft words or many movie?

any user of this model can you please kindly let me know smile.gif

hope to be one of the sager owner too =D
*
GT555m is enough for light gaming, but if you wanna try max setting on many upcoming games, it will be a problem. Since you said that you only do light gaming, I think it should be fine.

Besides, GT555m is embedded with optimus technology, it will automatically switch to integrated graphic when you are not gaming, thereby enhance your battery usage.

Hope it will help.

Okay.
Thanks, PrinceJ.
Then what is the average battery performance after one full charge?
Can it reach 4-5hours by doing microsoft words,iTunes and web browsing ?

By the way, what is the battery life for np8150/np8130 without gaming but only normal usage?
Only this two model allows future upgrade in future. how bad sad.gif

Is the np5165 got heat issue ?
Will the CPU i7 2720qm suitable for this model?
*
Sorry for late reply.

NP5165 battery can last about 3.5 hours(6 cells with optimus).

The battery of NP8130, NP8150 can last about 3.3 hours (8 cells but no optimus).

These models battery life are very close to each other, it really depends on the brightness of screen and what you do, I cannot give you an accurate estimation.

If you meant GPU upgrade, only NP8150 can do that because of power supply issue.
If you meant GPU upgrade to the newer version but same grade (eg: GTX460m --> GTX560m), all models can do that, assume the current motherboard can support future GPU.

So far I seldom heard about Clevo heat issue, just like what jimmy said, clevo chasis is well built.

I will always recommend i7 2720qm over i7 2630qm for better price-value. For more performance info you can simply google it.

If you live in Malaysia, I think you can check with Prince J as well, since he is from local.
As for the price, I'm not sure whether Prince J can offer better price than Mucro or not.

The procedure of buying and getting the laptop from Mucro is quite smooth, I received the laptop in quite short period of time.
As for the hardware faulty, I cannot blame Mucro coz it doesn't come from them originally.

The RMA process sucks due to the shipping fee. Both Sager and Mucro doesn't want to bare the shipping fee direct from US to Malaysia.
It also sucks when you want to ship it to Mucro and also when Mucro want to ship it back to Malaysia. Mucro will only accept the most cheapest courier service available, which will takes 2 weeks minimum.
So, imagine that your laptop actually stays at the Post office for 4 weeks(2weeks to singapore + 2 weeks back from singapore) minimum doing nothing at all!  doh.gif

UNLESS if you don't mind to use your own money to send it back to them or to receive back from them using DHL which cost me RM227 per one way.

I'm not sure how Prince J handle the RMA process, maybe you can check with him.   smile.gif
*
Mind to share, did you purchase their labor warranty? You pay for the shipping fee from Singapore to US and US to Singapore on your own?

Yes you got the point already, Sager will never refund for global shipping fee EVEN IF THE LAPTOP YOU RECEIVE IS FAULTY. It seems quite unreasonable. However, there is a trade off between what you pay and what you get. You can also order Alienware from Dell, pay extra fees for better warranty and exterior design.

The reseller you mentioned, they actually earn very little on Sager laptop import business if you only purchase the laptop, but not their labor warranty, their margin is very very slim, even below normal 2k to 3k laptop dealers' margin like Acer, Toshiba etc. If you think this way, I think you should be able to understand why they insist to send the parcel via POS MALAYSIA (normal parcel, not pos laju) to you, if not they will incur losses.

We have realized the inefficiency and riskiness of Pos Laju, the insurance service offered by their company only covers for parcel missing, I wonder what's the purpose to purchase their insurance, even if there is car accident causes your laptop broken or whatever, you are unable to claim. Every time we walk in to Pos Laju for sending the parcel, the officer seems like very reluctant to accept the laptop delivery business even if we purchase insurance. They even told me some stories like whose whose parcels are missing and broken, then suggest me not to send laptops via Pos Laju.

Just telling the truth, I got nothing with Pos Malaysia and Pos Laju.

Now we have tied up with UPS/Airpak high value item delivery team for Malaysia ground shipping. Every parcel will be handled with 100% insurance, and we won't increase our shipping charges. Since our average sale per unit is above RM6000, we cannot accept any risk associated with the delivery.

As I told you before, it isn't that we are unable to compete our prices with the reseller you mentioned. We can set the same price as them also. What we need to do is to charge expensive shipping and handling fees, payment handling fees, and offer services like Pos Malaysia shipping, end up with 1 month goods delivery. We are not interested to enter into price war, cut prices crazily to gain sales.

We engage in KL and Johor (JB, Kluang) and Singapore. If laptop fails to operate, buyer can pass the product to us in these areas, no need to send your laptop via any courier service provider. If buyers are not in these areas, they have to send the laptop or parts to our office on their own. All the costs (except Sager repairing process, which is covered under Sager warranty) during warranty period are covered under our carry-in warranty, if users didn't buy our carry-in warranty, we also offer cheap transportation services for users to claim warranty using our company shipping account. More specific info please pm or call me directly.

Yes, I did purchase their labor warranty.

Like I said, I actually don't have to pay any shipping fee from Malaysia to Singapore, from Singapore to US, and back from US to Singapore and to Malaysia.
The delivery from Singapore to US and back fro US to Singapore took them couple of days only coz they have agreement with DHL.
The only issue is the shipping to and from Singapore, coz they will use the cheapest possible courier which is POS Malaysia (not POS laju).
I do agree with you regarding the POS Malaysia advice there, they also very reluctant to send my Laptop to Singapore last time, they said it's very risky.

Since you are from local, that's why I suggest our friend here to check with you, so that he can skip the worrying part of sending back the laptop to the reseller before it is sent back to US.  smile.gif

Can you share with us how much is your NP8150-S1 including shipping fee, if you don't mind?
Mine is RM5,930.71

Thanks
*
Our company price is RM6014 including shipping, with the configurations same as yours.

Welcome.

We also prefer to COD instead of using courier services, although we have to travel from Johor to KL. Every time we walk in to Pos Laju for sending parcel, the officer attitude is like the parcel will definitely missing if we don't purchase their insurance.

IMHO, as long as it's not the LCD or mobo goes haywire, the rest of the parts can be sent for RMA easily as you just need to send the defective part. If hard disk spoiled, buy a new one, these days HDD's are cheap, don't end up like Edison Chen.

I'm still in a dilemma as of which reseller to choose.

I've done the calculation, with the customization I add on to the NP8150-S1, the final price after factoring in the discount, shipping, payment charges, 2 years of warranty, is as per below:

Lpc-digital : RM6102.4
Mucro       : RM6610.5
Illegear    : RM7180.9

Illegear offers total peace of mind, with the premium of RM1.1k.
Lpc-digital offers the best price, but if worst come to worst, a RMA, even with the cheapest service available (Poslaju + USPS), is estimated to cost around RM800.
Buying from Mucro, you get something in between..

How would you choose??       rclxub.gif
*
I think you have included our carry-in warranty price into the quotation. And you didn't account for after sales service of LPC-digital company, end up with premium of 1.1k

Yes I admit that our company carry-in warranty price is not so competitive. However, you should consider the service we provide as well. We have to travel to KL for COD with customers all the time (purchase machine, warranty claiming etc). If customers are unable to do COD, we also provide UPS courier services for them, all the parts and machines are well handled together with 100% insurance (damages and missing).

I am not trying to pull customers and sales, just trying to explain what is inside the premium.

Anyway, good luck in your purchase smile.gif

@Prince J

I fully understand that the premium would be paid for an excellent service, as what I've stated there "total peace of mind".  An I can understand that a reasonable revenue is needed to run a business, as I've also involved in sales before.

But now being a consumer myself..  and not a too wealthy one.. though I would really like to get the laptop from a local reseller, the hefty premium is putting me on a second thought.. hope you understand..

Anyway, wish you the very best for your sales too  thumbup.gif
*
I understand your situation too. If you need some discount, still can nego with us also. We normally give discount for buyer when total price reach RM5000 and above.

Yeah, 6970M inventory is extremely low, Sager uses for current order only and have no plan to restock it. GTX485m will become the only high end card of Sager system from now.

Sager has kept RMA stock itself, either refurbished 6970m or they can order directly together with their shipment from Clevo.

Prince J, I have a request. I think others would like to know this too.

Are you able to bring in just the video card? For instance, bring in the GTX580 for those who want to upgrade from GTX460.
Not only the GPU, mobile CPU as well.
I guess it would do good to your business if you bring "options".  laugh.gif
It would really make Sager an excellent option in terms of "customizeable" & "upgradeable".
*
Yes, we are able to bring in only GPU, CPU, Barebones, WIFI Card. We also sell Sager battery, adapter, hdd, ssd and ram, but I think you all are not interested to these parts. The only part we don't sell is screen. We don't list out in our website as individual parts price is not so attractive, buy a complete system is always cheaper than you assembly on your own.

Although our senior in Sager allow us to purchase the parts, even keyboard of Clevo chasis, but the prices depend on the demand, let say hd6970m and gt555m which are highly demanded, Sager rarely allow us to purchase, even they allow the prices are also very high. So that's why they don't have any parts price list, also the main reason we cannot put into our website.

Added on June 22, 2011, 3:18 pmHi there.

Our management has updated carry-in policy.
ALL THE SAGER PRODUCTS PURCHASED ARE GIVEN FREE 1 YEAR CARRY-IN WARRANTY
2nd and 3rd year carry-in warranty prices are also deducted accordingly.

Starting from now, we only offer one type warranty which is combining our carry-in warranty and Sager official warranty.
Eg: 1 yr carry in + 1 yr Sager warranty applies to all unit default specs
2 yr carry in + 2 yr Sager warranty and 3 yr carry in + 3 yr Sager warranty are optional

We are able to offer the best Sager warranty and complete solution for Sager repairing services within Malaysia, which is very competitive.

Users can find us in KL, Johor Bahru, Kluang (Headquarter) and Singapore for RMA. If we are not around these areas at that time, users have to send their laptops/ parts to our headquarter on their own, which is meant by "carry in".

Please note that this warranty is coordinated by Sager, we do not warrant the whole machines. When necessary, we will send the parts/laptops back to US Sager headquarter, which will take a slightly longer period for repairing process, there is no extra charges on user side unless the warranty is void/not applied.

Warranty extend are available within 30 days starting from original invoice date.
