I just think not really too bad, but the coverage of color is not good, if possible, must paint the color up to ceiling, but not stop at the beam, because that feel your ceiling is low, make your house feeling lower.

Here i would like to share the Feature Wall Ideas:

Bedrooms
Paint the headboard wall a different color or use extraordinary pattered wallcovering.
Use an oversized upholstered headboard in a dramatically patterned fabric which sets the tone for the entire room.

Living or Family rooms
If you have a beautiful fireplace to feature paint or wallcover the walls in something more subtle that makes the fireplace stand out.
Frame large picture windows in wonderful drapery to focus the viewer's eye on the view.
If main seating area is the dominant item you want people to focus on make it dramatic with color and/or texture.

Entrance Hall
If you walk in the front door and face a wall use a spectacular wallcovering that serves as an impressive handshake. Big wow factor!
Use a striking piece of furniture to draw people's interest.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The objective of feature wall is set the mood of the house. Feature wall is the attention grabber.

Is the wall just painted? The color of the newly painted wall take a few days to set.

I agreed with Eleganz Concept to paint all the way to the ceiling. Enhance the height.

Once your furniture moved in, it will tone down the color.

As how to tone down the boldness is how you use your creativity & imagination.

10 ft TV cabinet is a bit too long. Do you have space to fill in a pair of speakers for home cinema? I'm sure your kids will love them.

There are many ways to build feature wall. Exotic will be expensive wall paper, textured sculpture, nice ceramic tile, hi gloss black panel, glass etc...

Painting is the cheapest of all.

Creating your personal memory lane with framed photo arranged in random will be very nice too...
