yeah, not very popular in Malaysia. I had 1 when i study in Australia. We are so lazy, after eating just rinse and put in the dish washer. When it is full, we just turn it on and leave the plates and cups in the dishwasher.

Same thing for oven and microwave. Just buy pizza, chicken, fish and chip from supermarket and put it inside the oven, no nd to cook HAHA.

I use it everyday..its the best. Malaysia is the best place to use dishwasher as water is not expensive like some part of the world. But the powder or liquid is expensive. Cant use normal soap/detergent

It is not popular in Malaysia because here most of us have mobile dish washer called maids! biggrin.gif
I decided not to use dish washer because we dont cook as much. If you cook daily and have big family, dishwasher is good. But then if you have big family, chances are you have a maid ...

I used dishwasher when studying in US last year. I think not suitable in Malaysia coz here you eat a lot oily stuff & need to rinse first. Might as well just wash it off rather than transferring to dishwasher after that, IMO. If you stay 1-2 person & use only few plates & cutlery, then u need to wait until it's full so you dont waste water & the dishwasher detergent & electricity. In my experience, i use until all my plate & cup finished then only start the washing, by that time, no plate to use tongue.gif (coz i only stayed 2 persons). But the best part is you can turn it on & let it wash & u can go out... Come back all plates & cups clean biggrin.gif

But I noticed not easy to find the dishwasher detergent here... maybe that is another thing u might need to think about.

I use it everyday. Worth the investment. Been using it for 7 years now, no breakdown. I have a Siemens, same as Bosch just rebadged. It uses very little water, between 10-20 litre. I keep getting questions from friends such as clean or not? Well, if you can hand wash dishes with near boiling water, go ahead. It also steams the dishes before the cycle ends.

Only problem is, most kitchen in Malaysia is not built for one. I have a built it one, the furniture maker is doing it for the first time although he has decades of experience. I did the plumbing myself and I had a drainage part that I got from Germany while I was there. You can get a similar drainage part from IKEA these days.

I also have a Siemens washer, I called BSH (Bosch-Siemens Holdings) to service it and they come to my place which is quite remote (near KLIA). So I have confidence of them servicing the dishwasher if required.

I got a Fisher&Paykel drawer dishwasher. It is pretty pricey but I have a small family so the smaller size suits us more.

Only places like Cold Storage and big hardware store (ACE hardware) carries it. I got mine from Cold Storage (u can try Cascade brand or Finish brand).

Local hypermart dont carry them (Cascade/Finish).

the major supermarkets do carry the dishwasher detergent so no problem to get them really..
have used a dishwasher for 8 years - mine is a borsch and i believe this is the best brand..tried using electrolux recently as its cheaper but not as good as borsch..

why dishwasher - very good if you have babies and small kids as the hot water will sterilize everything for one, secondly, great if you hate doing dishes..smile.gif
so very convenient esp after dinner, lazy lah to have to do dishes.. tongue.gif

yes bosch is pretty great. siemens too - i believe it's essentially the same product under the hood. basically all the european brands gave me good experience and yes not a hassle to get the detergent and stuff (anymore). it used to be harder but they are getting more and more widely available. sadly the price still is high.

Dishwashers, actually saves water. Electricity usage is another matter. For the 12-15l used by a dish washer for the a full load, unless you installed the handy foot activated tapmaster (www.tapmasterinc.ca/residential), water consumption is on average 6 times more. The only alternative is to have a bowl sink filled with water. One with soap and one without. Wash grime off one bowl. Rinse in the other. This is Euro/Oz style manual dishwashing.

The only thing that's be aware of is placement and plumbing. The extra piping for inlet and the plumibing for outlet. As far as I know, Ikea Atlant bowl drains has dishwasher/front-loader washing machine drain spigot that allows water to drain out from the sink. Teka sinks also has them. I would suppose some of the Euro sinks will come with dishwasher/washing machine spigot to allow water to drain.

Also some models like Teka or German made Bosch uses Euro type plug. So need to change to British type 3-pin or use one of those Wonpro type adapters.

I nearly installed it once in condo. Planned the kitchen deliberately with a dishwasher in mind. Had contractor drill 2 holes on the left of the sink cabinet frame to allow for inlet/outlet and electrical socket located under sink drain (a 13A plug outlet from study was co-incidentally located directly behind the left-bottom of the sink cabinet). Cabinet has to be of the height that can take a stand-alone dishwasher ie about 85-86cm assuming that their top cannot be removed (81-82cm if possible).

Due to not knowing where to find a drain spigot, I was planning to install a Kleenguard or Insinkerator underneath the sink which has a dishwasher outlet adaptor built-in. Expensive yes but some things to think through without hacking too much in condos. Now at least I know where to look. Ikea Atlant trap/water trap (used to be RM55 way back) for all their sinks comes with two spigots so that you can have dishwasher and washing machine on either side of the sink. No need to get Ikea sink, just make sure the sink outlet is of the same diameter (90mm) so planning is involved. See image 10 of the Atlant instruction http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/ikea-instru...-annotated.html.

Disclaimer: it may not fit all sinks even though there's a Atlant double bowl trap. Chances are if adding a dishwasher is an after thought, it's better off near next to the washing machine outside in the drying area or you have decided to renovate the kitchen.

Ideally, if the kitchen is galley style like in a train ie 2 straight 'I's, the washing side can be higher from the cooking side (lower) opposite. Too high cabinetry does not suit most of us cos wok would be too high.

I still bought a Teka LP800 dishwasher. Moving to landed and planning the kitchen the same way, I had an 13A outlet brought behind the dishwasher. Plumbing was just a hack to have the outlet 40cm above the floor behind the dishwasher and a T brach off from the cold supply of the sink running out behind it as a washing machine/bidet type bib.

One more thing, when opening the dishwasher after drying is completed, some steam will come out. To prevent it from ruining the underside of you cabinetry, buy one of those Japanese rigid alumimum foil heat conserver made for hobs. Keep the magnet for something else but place that over the dishwasher top. It should fit like judge's wig. Once you open just after, pull it out. It will guide the steam away from the underside of the cabinet and into the open air. Just my 2sen.

Ya, for our use, it's mostly higher than usual. Usually free standing dishwashers are 85-86cm with top cover. Some can have it removed that it becomes 81-82cm. Integrated could be up to 81-82 in height. The height I left my sink area is 86cm so it can generally fit any dishwasher with their top intact.

This problem may not apply for those with wet and dry kitchens but rather for us who have them both integrated.

In a single wet/dry kitchen, the cooking and food preparation side is lower which is only possible in a galley style (2 parallel 'I' like in a train).

For C, G and U shaped layouts, segregation is needed with a break in height of the counter tops for washing zone from ccoking and food prepration zones. This can easily be achieved with artificial stone tops. If using concrete/tiles, marble stone, mdf board, a fridge or storage cabinet can establish a break between zones where permissible.

For an L shaped kitchen, as long as the cooking zone is on the separate L leg segment (very far away) from the washing zone, the only choice is to use aritificial stone to drop the height for cooking. Otherwise, countertop height is uniform throughout which may not suit some of us since the wok sit higher. Chopping onion and garlic would be too high for comfort also.

For existing kitchen, the next best place for the dishwasher is beside the washing machine usually outside if space allows.

For apartments with limited balcony space, some designed their kitchen to have dishwasher and washing machine on either side of the sink. The only solution I discovered without investing in an Insinkerator/Kleengard is either an Ikea Atlant sink trap or a Teka sink which usually includes a trap which has a dishwasher adapter. This solves the waste outlet issue. Tee off from the cold supply is also minor work. The only challenge is locating the 13A. So this one must be thought out from the beginning.

Flickrhivemind on Domjso sinks with dishwasher installed

Here's how to DIY guide your plumber and kitchen installer if renovating.

Usage in combi with a waste disposer like Insinkerator or Kleenguard. Some maintain that an airgap here and here and here is needed in combination with dishwasher use.

Yes I've heard that we don't need to use salt is because our water type is not hard type.

The height of base cabinet is 90cm (without the counter top), I use the 16cm capita legs. Ikea has another size for legs which is 11cm. I don't think my dishwasher will fit into into the cabinets if i use these legs.

The wall cabinet is 230cm from the floor. The ceiling height is 3m. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know of any built in dishwasher makes available in Msia? Any free standing dishwashers that come with removable top to reduce the height? I am interested with Electrolux ESF6210 LOW but it has a height of 850 mm which will not fit into 820 mm space I got under my kitchen counter.

yes, you can look for Bosch built-in dishwasher that only requires the height of your modular cabinet. however is not a friendly price. it costs almost twice as expensive compare to those free standings ones. but it's pretty practical as you do not need to remove your cabinet or kitchen top.

Dishwasher tablets or powder
Rinse aid liquid
Salt is not required. Set the water hardness scale to the minimum. Our water here is soft.
Try Henkel's Somat tablet and rinse aid.

Hello, Everyone. I am a newcomer... I was currently bought a Bosch Dishwasher. The model is SMS63L08EA, RM2913 (bought at best denki). Does anyone use this model as well? the best denki promoter no need to put the special salt... At first, i was so confusing after reading the manual. I personally think that they should customize the manual for every country.

We are on our 2nd Bosch dishwasher, the first one was 12 years old and couldn't get parts for it.

2nd bought 2nd hand.

To answer your question, it isn't good with pots and pans.

Bosch dishwashers are global products, they aren't Malaysia specific products. Therefore manuals are the same all over the world.

In Malaysia we don't have hard water issues, therefore you don't need the dishwasher salt which acts as a water softener.

If you really insist on using the salt, just use the 3-in-1 tablet, otherwise you can get them from BIG or Jaya Grocer.

Thinking to get this Xiaomi Viomi Dishwasher, anybody have this model installed at home?

I would have gone for the typical Bosch brand but it's too tall for my existing kitchen cabinet. Want to give this one a try.

the xiaomi dishwasher is like an oven size (smaller than regular dishwasher), so if spoil u cant get a regular dishwasher to fit in the hole.

Price is cheap but no after sales service and service center.

i buy finish from lazada, washing quality ok or may b my dish washer is too good rclxms.gif

currently using this, not available in malaysia yet

next month will b installing an integrated dishwasher from foster. Why i choose this because most of the dishwashers look just like a washing machine (ugly), while foster fully integrated dishwasher looks exactly like my cabinet design and price is affordable. A bosch fully integrated dishwasher in malaysia cost RM 6k+ while foster is only half the price and with 3 years warranty and made in italy

Ofcoz bosch would have some extra features but for half the price, i am happy with foster

Used indesit dishwasher until the pump Kong so it will be flooding inside. Then got a Fagor for around rm1700, showroom display unit from HLK warehouse sales je coz poorfag but it was great. Salt just use normal coarse salt to fill up the tub (it worked well for the previous indesit machine).

Beko is turkish, Bosch is german. If you read random european based forum, definitely they would suggest Bosch over Beko. Bosch is poor man’s gaggenau laugh.gif

After extensive research, i bought hood, hob, microwave oven and convection oven from Bosch for my kitchen. No money for dishwasher though. sweat.gif

Thanks. Funny to see Beko advertises it manufactured in “Europe”... since when Turkey is part of Europe already?

Turkey is half asia half europe (can’t remember the exact %, but i think 90% asia 10% europe). So manufacture in europe is about right laugh.gif

And from google beko also have factory in Russia & Romania which is definitely europe.

If you’re considering beko, you might as well take a look at other european brand like brandt, teka, electrolux and etc. All in similar price range.

For bosch i would recommend you to go to their showroom in Publika and their staff will explain to you in details pros and cons of each model. They are very knowledgable on their products unlike salesperson in electrical shop. And yeah plenty of model to choose from with 3k budget.

Ya. That’s based on their specification. The average use of power is 1kwh, so roughly rm0.28 (if you are at second tier, first tier even cheaper)

I am using FOSTER dishwasher in my showroom. As we have events occasionally and will need to wash a lot of dishes, i really need a dishwasher.

Since it is a showroom, i wish to have something that can blend in with my showroom and look nice (modern). Also it has to be durable, since it comes with 3 years warranty and made in italy, i choose FOSTER. Here is my review for it. If wanna to know more and test it, can dropby my showroom, it is a working unit not a regular display only smile.gif

yes u can put pots and frying pan. Yes cleaning is 1 to 2 hours depending on which mode u use.

However, sticky food on pots and pans cant be removed. my Rule of thumb, anything that cant dissolve with hot water and require scrubbing, dont put in dishwasher.

Example, porridge or meat sticking on the pan

Proper placement of dishes, cups, cutlery and utensils are crucial. Cutlery especially need to be spaced out. The cutlery basket caddy without the space guide grille needs careful distribution such that forks and spoons don't clump together preventing reach of detergent and water.

In the past, it is true that dishwashers don't wash out stains much less stubborn stains very well for a very simple reason...the hot water is not hot enough. Today, hard stubborn stains can be removed even if left overnight if the dishwasher's intensive wash program temperature is at least 70°C. Of course, it's better to scrape off the excess.

When getting a dishwasher, ensure its highest temp meets the above criteria for the intensive wash program. Anything less leaves the dishwasher wanting in its purpose.

The other thing is the dishwasher powder/tablets and rinsing aid liquid. Some have it combined in one tablet. Commonly it's separately wash tablet and rinse aid liquid. Try different brands. So far, Henkel's Somat works very well.

As with washing machines or hot water storage heaters, filter out sediments at point of entry down to no larger than 1 micron to ensure sediments don't clog the water intake inlet which has a sediment screen like front load washing machines. Otherwise, excess sediments might play havoc with the spray pattern.

Hello,i am new to the forum and read through the topic on dishwashers....Yes... Surprisingly in Malaysia the usage is very limited...i have a fairly new dishwasher from a German brand called Brandt. It's performance is awesome just like Bosch as i have used it in the past.
Unfortunately I am selling it off as i am shifting from KL and it's hard to find a buyer.
Appreciate if anyone from this forum is interested to buy mine which is less than a year old .

a customer asked me whether Foster Dishwasher is able to handle asian food? worried that the machine from italy is not suitable for asian use. So, rather than explaining, i recorded this video to test. curry, soya sauce and etc etc baked in the oven to dry, then cool down and only put in dishwasher.

Here is my honest test result, if you have any request you would like me to test and show u, u may PM me, i will try my best to share accurate info and video. Since i m using it, i can demo and explain better

Italian pasta also oily oily, so if the machine from Italy, sure can work rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
Coz the soap cycle and rinse cycle is done at warm/hot temperature (depending on cycle setting) it will of course clean better than any hand wash, hand cannot tahan boiling temperatures icon_idea.gif

So conclusion dishwasher is gooding.

When buying a dishwasher, do consider the size and shape of the things u wanna wash in it. Some dishwashers are not asian friendly. As we do use bowls, some dishwashers only target to wash plates, making it hard to fit big bowls in the racks. Foster Dishwasher do not have this issue, i believe it is suitable for malaysia market.

I saw the demo unit of this dishwasher though if I remember correctly the sink was on the right side of the dishwasher.

I was tempted to get one but opted to get a Bosch fully integrated as it only occupies a kitchen cabinet where this Fotile occupies both a cabinet and the counter.

Useful for a small family that washes after every meal but not so much for me that I prefer to wash just once per day.

i only wash plates, bowls, cups and cutlery inside.
japanese standard size crockery is on the small side but basic cheap ikea <200cc cups, bowls and plates that are dishwasher safe are ok.
deep and XL soup bowls will fit but not that many.
have not and do not expect to wash pots and pans inside the thing.
whatever i washed, they all come clean except for some cutlery.
i do presoak the dishes so they have no hard stains.
i used the Finish powder.

We bought a Bosch dishwasher model SMS63L02EA on 2 April 2018. It experienced faulty operation in March 2020 and was repaired under warranty. Now it again experience faulty operation (error code E14) hardly one year after the repair. Since the warranty period has ended, the BOSCH authorized service provider quoted us as below:

"The bosch dish washer repair cost is RM950.00 to change
1pc main board
1pc drain pump assy"

I feel this is too expensive and the question arise as to whether it is worth to repair it this time. What if it become faulty again after a few months requiring another hefty repair bill?
We trusted Bosch product which is a German brand but hardly 3 years after our purchase of the dishwasher, we are faced with this dilemma.

The dishwasher was finally repaired and we paid the cost of around RM800/- to the service provider.

I complained to the Bosch customer service to a guy by the name of Neil, that this is due to manufacturing fault and requested for discount fort he parts. He said he will refer my case to the management for further decision.

We have yet to hear from Bosch.

This is the first time we bought a dishwasher. We regretted buying the Bosch dishwasher.

Hmm drain pump fault also.
Same as what happened to our recond indesit but we used it for about 7 years until the drain pump kong. Cost 1300 in the year 2000's. No spare parts available since very old dinosaur model. Paintwork became rusty over the years. Indesit local SC handled by Cornell (Pensonic)

Then we got a Fagor dishwasher display set, from HLK warehouse clearance, discounted a bit due to dings in the panel, also another caveat emptor purchase (since Fagor filed for bankruptcy and got absorbed by CNA Group after that macam no news) for around 1700. So far this machine still operating fine laugh.gif

Somehow dishwasher locally tend to have rather poor support esp for non mainstream brands, so for me I just adopt the "buy cheap and use until it died" theory.

i see, drain outlet only have them at the small back yard where we would have our washing machine,
need to think whether it is practical to put the dishwasher at the yard too.

Or you can extend the drain pipe from the one used by WM with a T joint fitting and run a short pipe back through the wall or something back to the dishwasher rear. Most built-in dishwasher do NOT need a very low pipe. The drain hose should be like a U turn sign high up in the air at least 70-80cm then only come down into the vertical drain pipe, to allow the drain pump to work without risk of backflow.

majority dishwasher require outlet to b high, minimum 1 feet and above, except for fotile sink dishwasher nd to have low outlet.

Inlet, Outlet and Power point have to be at the side (left or right) of the dishwasher and not directly behind. Many contractors assume dishwasher is similar to washing machine and standby everything directly behind of it. Here is a sample of my dishwasher installation.

Looking for a dishwasher, i have compared several brands, it is really hard to choose the right one by just comparing the spec in the catalogs, there are many things that are not specify or shown in the catalogs. Here are some things that i notice after comparing several dishwashers.

1. More place setting doesnt mean better
what is place setting?
a complete set of crockery and cutlery provided for one person at a meal.
As internal dimension of the dishwashers are +- same, how can 1 dishwasher able to wash more compared to the others? Answer : the racks are designer with narrow spacing tine, when plates are too close or touching each other, it prevents water jet from cleaning it, hence u will nd to wash again.

2. Additional 3rd rack reduces the space (height), so some bigger items cant fit in the top rack. Reduces bottom rack height limit by 2cm, reduce top rack height limit by 4 - 5cm

3. Quality, though all dishwashers might look the same, the railing smoothness, the material used, workmanship and etc etc that are not shown in catalogs spec are not the same, so you will need to look at the actual product to get a feel or it.

Occasionally, customers called up and asked me how to install the dishwasher? Fortunately the new FOSTER KSPLUS+ just arrived and i thought of replacing my showroom test unit to the new model by myself (just to test how difficult i tis to install). This is my first time installing a dishwasher without any help, so if plumbers never install a dishwasher before, can share this with them to get a rough idea.

Check voltage of device.. as i know for PRC domestic is 220V and 50Hz..so can use. HOWEVER if that machine was meant for US export it will be on 110V ie cannot use without transformer ya.

You'd need a UK plug top to fit our usual malaysian socket too. That's about it. And drain pipe need to be somewhat raised (not dunk into floor hole) for dishwasher..see manual for recommended drain pipe height.

i just bought one from shopee from a local seller, arrived in one day , after all the cashback and discounts, around RM 910, very big and elegant, bigger than i thought when it arrived. I can put in many plates and bowl in to wash . It got double spread arm so the cleaning is excellent.

U can put in a 30 Cm wok but if you do that, you can only put in a few plates or bowls to wash together.

BTW, the instruction booklet asked me to put in the salt, do we need that since i know malaysia water is a soft type ?

Salt can forego, but the lamp will always light up. Rinse Aid is a must, if you wish to have dry-er dishes.

Not sure if this Toshiba model has built in drying function.

Pretty good price. How long does a typical wash cycle take? Our Fagor unit takes 2h 5min.

eco mode : 2 hr 30 mins
quick mode : 90 mins

this is the part i don't understand, the booklet said if use "eco" mode the electricity and water usage are lesser than if i use quick mode but the economy mode is 2 hours 30 mins vs the quick mode which is 90 mins how can that be more electricy saving and water saving, i can't comprehend here. does that means the longer the dishwasher runs, the more saving i have in the electricity and water ? :-)

i am not having headache to decide between the Toshiba DW-14F2(BS) vs the Bosch SMS2IVW01P .

Toshiba is around RM1.9k while Bosch is around RM3.6k...that's big difference...

I don't mind paying more for better long term quality/reliability, but is it really is?

Well I went ahead and bought DW-14F2 BS model.
So far so good.

Hardly notice any surge in electricity or water cost.
(Electricity bill before is around RM 30-32/month, after this purchase is around RM 30-34/month).

Hello TS.

I have been using a dishwasher for 10 years now. Bosch.
They are great if you go through a lot of utensils, and if anyone bakes at home.

They consume quite a bit of power and water but under eco mode, should be OK. Nowadays, they have dirt sensor and they will only rinse until clean water is detected.

I think it is worth it. It frees up my time, or my wife's. Detergent and rinse aid price in Malaysia is OK, but not very common in every supermarket. One thing nice about Malaysia is that our water is not hard (low calcium content), so we don't need water softening salts.

Oh yeah, it is only worth running if the load is full, hence you need to have enough utensils to last you through until the load is full!

washing power is definitely stronger than other brands in the market with patented HydroJet Technology. Comes with divider for half load which i like most as family of 5, hardly nd full load, other brands claim to have half load but they cant really do half if u do not have the middle divider.

If u nd to know anything i can try to answer them as i m using it and selling it, so i have more info compared to regular user

if interested in getting it can visit us in Pavillion Bukit jalil this week 10 - 12 Oct (MyHome Expo), drop by early for more free stuff from organizer + vouchers

So far any issue/complain from your customer for this? I saw this washer + sink got a lot model from fotile. But malaysia only have 1. Not sure if malaysia market will have more variant from fotile. Really interested with this model but just concern once a while if dish load is a lot . Still thinking whether should go for the sink 1 or the conventional 1.

Another question is for fotile normal dishwasher will it need to open up after clean to let the hot air release? Is it automatic or need manually open

dont think malaysia will add new models for this. If dish load a lot wash 2 round, during CNY my house memang nd to wash 2 rounds.

No nd open up, hot air will ventilate though the overflow pipe at the sink

For 1 -2 person household & condo lifestyle its ok, if not consider larger size.

Generally Dishwasher is sized by dish placement, the bigger the number means can hold more (in theory, however, you need to check the rack layout and wash arm mounting etc).

I bought a used Toshiba counter top dishwasher (believe its a rebadge Midea), good washing capacity and works well. A full size dishwasher would make more sense in a larger household (with the ability to do half load, as and when needed).

For us, we use the dishwasher mainly to clean our cooker hood filter and air fryer and also utensils once a month to make sure its really clean and get back the sparkle after a cycle in dishwasher.

Find it to be a helpful assistant to have in the kitchen.

Fotile do have, but it is really costly.
I went with Bosch because they are well known especially on the drying side and didn't regret it.
Go with the series 4, with the cutlery tray.

For Bosch I'm looking at Serie 6, because Series 4 is semi-integrated, but series 6 is double the price of teka dw9
