I can shipped them back in a 20ft container as the exhaust system only needs a small place to fit in... Will try to search for it then...

Just a coincidence that my friend knows someone on the consumer tribunal so I saja ask about the GTI 2011 vs GTI 2011 SE case. According to the fella if we can get official costing of the additional features from VW, we most likely have a case against VGM. Max claim amount is RM25K. Problem is I did a little asking when I was at a VW dealer this morning, no one seems to have the official itemized costing for the Detroits, RCD510, MDI, Cruise Control etc. Anyway, just for info only....at least we know that there is a possible avenue for these kinds of stuff for future reference.

Too much talk about other cars and not enough talk about VW and spending our money on stuff we clearly don't need.

Let me get things back on track:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...359&mfe=sidebar

So who has more money than brains and will get one?

Me? Of course.

Looks great but I wonder how long it will fit snugly, after a time the leather will season and become "loose" or won,t it? Pricey though.

Just curious, what exactly do you think VW should have done in this case?

GTI owners got what they paid for. GTI SE owners got lucky.

BTW, if I remember correctly my SA quoted the RCD510 as around RM8k, but not sure if this was his inflated price or if that's the official VGM price. Got mine from jwrx for MUCH less.

Honestly?

(1) They could have made an announcement to all those who were going to take delivery of the cars in the period when they found out about the SE specs at port, I am sure they knew before the cars arrived. Let the owners decide to wait for delivery or offer them some sort of incentive to offset the lost (don't kid yourself it is a lost for the GTI 2011 owners). Likelihood of that ever happening - NIL
(2) Yes technically speaking they did no wrong. So we GTI owners should just suck it up and get on with it. However, there is a possible rebuttal to this. The mere fact of the cars being of different specs but manufactured the same year without these specifications being notified to customers officially points to VGM not being transparent over the issue. As consumers I believe we should be aware of our rights. We GTI owners have a right to recourse should we chose to go down that path. Fact - we lost a whole chunk of $$$ on the value of our vehicles because of the GTI SE. You could argue that this is notional but nevertheless it is fact. We paid exactly the same amount of money for a lesser car so to speak.

Anyway, I just brought it up because I wanted everybody here to know that we could have a legitimate grounds for complain and compensation. If that's the case why not? $$$ is after all $$$. I don't mind being the test case but I have no clue how to get the official itemized pricing for the extras i.e. sunroof, Detroits, MDI (I saw unofficially it was priced at Rm1K++ crazzy!), cruise control stalk (RM600++), RCD510 (no idea, really could be 8K)

Seriously, just go and make the complaint as mentioned via the claims tribunal. If you managed to pull it through, a lot of GTI owners would be very much in love with you wub.gif

Dun mind doing it but I need enough documentary evidence - i.e. the actual costs of the extras. I only can get the UK prices. What we need is the actual VW Malaysia itemised costing to Kastam, that one how to get? Or an official accessories price list - as far as I know tak de. Anyways, trying luck and gave the UK prices first, ok just for info in UK (using FX rate of 4.8) the extra we have to pay for the following is:

1) Sunroof = GBP620 (RM2,976)
2) Detroits = GBP465 (RM2,232)
3) RCD510 = GBP390 (RM1,872)
4) Media-In Retrofit (Part number 5N0 057 342) = GBP274 (RM1,315)
5) USB adapter (Part number 000 051 446 B) for Media-In = GBP35 (RM168)
6) Cruise control = GBP320 (RM1,536)

So at least RM10K worth of extras before taxes (they could be a counter factor of UK VAT involved, not sure)

Sorry to burst your bubble..zack...

Its unlikely you are able to claim. In Malaysia the courts do not allow "pure economic loss"..If the tribunal allows your claim, it will be overturned by the High Court for a mis-application of law.

Fact is ..you did not "lose" money... simple as that. So if you didnt lose money..you cant claim. It would be diiferent scenario if VGM promised that GTis for 2011 will be fixed price and same specs and because of that inducement you bought your GTi. If that is a case then VGM broke their promise and is liable to ractify it. But I believe VGM did not give anything of that sort.

To put it in perspective, if you feel cheated, by all means sue VGM. But I can honestly and professionally say your case is unlikely to suceed.

Peace bro and let the matter go. Just dont buy VW anymore if you cant let go of your grief.

Understood bro, I'm assuming you're a legal beagle. Agreed, VGM never did put anything down in writing. Anyways, no harm trying as lodging a complaint is just that. It's not grief but a feeling of being taken for a fool, I do not like that. I never said I could succeed but there is grounds for a complaint. As for the actual claim I am sure what you say is correct. I'm still enjoying the ride but I never let isolated incidents like this deter me from future purchase of another VW. When the time comes we shall see. Thanks anyway for your opinion. Appreciate it.

Don't take my word for the RM8k price. As phj63 said, the prices vary depending on who you ask. I'm guessing it may be because VGM doesn't officially import these accessories, so dealerships/SAs get their own 'lobang' and are free to whack whatever price they feel like.

One SA once quoted me a set of Denvers + tyres for RM9k rclxub.gif

I look forward to the day VGM allows us to officially customize our VWs, just like VW UK.

Yes I would love it if we could customize cars over here like in EU but fact is in Malaysia until they change their automotive policy with regard to imported cars its just too much of a hassle for the distributors to deal with, every single item must be itemized and will be scrutinized by Kastam. So too many permutations of specs will be a helluva lot of admin cost.

Also we don't have enough volume to justify that as well. Scale of economy not in our favour at the moment until the CKD cars come about.

(Akrapovic Detail) Just recently Email the Akrapovic malaysia dealer and this is the detail that the person told me icon_rolleyes.gif

" - The price has been revised by Akrapovic by giving us more discount so to
be more competitive. 9K - is the price on retail. And we always give some
discount.
- There is no titanium version for the GTi (except for the tail pipes). Some
models have in Ti and some only in Stainless steel or vice versa.
- Put it simply that Ti is a much more expensive material and difficult to
work with.
- Akrapovic has Ti exhaust with retail price starting from RM13K ( Evo X) to
RM 45K ( Ferrari 458 ). The S/Steel starts from RM6.4K ( Renault Clio ) to
RM 14.6K ( BMW 335i).
- One important issue is - not many suppliers show what can be pproduced
with their exhaust. There is no dyno graph. Even if there is - it not in
detail. Nobody really knows what is the performance,
- All Akrapovic exhaust are dynoed on standard cars - without remapping.
Also bear in mind that all Akrapovic mufflers are road legal version( with
EU certification ). You can buy a loud exhaust which makes more power
needs remapping but it's not legal for road use.
- I would suggest you visit and see all the exhaut you have in mind. You'll
realise there's a big difference in workmanship and Akrapovic is the best.
- You'll be surpised that Akrapovic even has a foundry for Ti. Their Ti is
propreitory and the best. There is a tendency to crack and pit on other
types of Ti used by other brands."

This is the actual price akrapovic kit for VW Mk6 Gti :-

The least parts you need to purchase will be:

M-VW/SS/1H "WV GOLF VI GTI (2009-2010)
SLIP ON SYSTEM (TÜV approved/Street legal)
SS exhaust system with mufflers"

= RM 6042

plus

TP-VWGMK6-T "TAIL PIPE SET
WV GOLF VI GTI (2009-2010)
Titanium adjustable and removable tail pipe set
dia 100 mm"

= RM 3475

Totalling RM 9517
Discount 25%
Final RM 7137.75

The link pipe is optional.

If this is inatalled you'll get better throttle response.

p/s : I saw this Gti 2 weeks ago maybe forgt to post here.. Anyone know the car owner maybe ? It modded with BBS rim custom black top paint, Red VW rear logo, brembo brake kit, and exhaust i dont know.. hehe picture taken in melaka >>

Wearnes has the Akrapovic on display at their Sungai Besi branch. So far I know a number of GTI owners have gone for the Remus system which gave them about 10whp extra, a Roc here in LYN did his at Everco and gotten extra 16whp as well.

For that sort of price, you can get a complete TBE system. Akrapovic is nice, but the prices are downright ridiculous.
