GK will change of course.
And Scholes and Hargreaves might retire/be let go.
Owen can still stay on for another year. A lot will depend on how SAF feels about Welbeck and if we have space to keep him(25 man thing) in the squad.

I prefer someone much older with more experience like Julio Cesar/Reina/Buffon(without injury problems). Didn't want Stekelenburg, but as days goes by, he grew on me. Maybe not as highly rated and talented as the others, he certainly would be a safe option considering his age and experience and he won't cost the earth too. Neuer have been impressive I must say and remind a lot of Schmeichel although we have no chance to get him once Bayern show interest and he stated that he wanted to stay in Germany. The others don't impress me much. Akinfeev short, Lloris suspect on crosses, Adler looks a bit like Foster.. De Gea I don't know much other than being highly rated and play like VDS a bit. He seems to be the one. The noises are getting louder that he's the one. I hope he is the one. Considering his age, he could be with us for 10+ years!*

*A lot depend on how he does in goal for us of course and whether we are good enough to keep him should he be deemed 'good'(keep him happy, fighting for trophies and whatnot).

De Gea allegedly is considering our offer, and if he don't sign, maybe we would feel the other targets aren't worth getting(considering Neuer is going to Bayern). So we go with the safe option although Buffon injury record is not good last few seasons.

Evra, Vida, Park, VDS, CR, Rooney, Carrick(replace Roy Keane), Hernandez, Smalling, the twins..

True. But if we feel he is the best man for the job, might as well pay up unless the price is ridiculous(30m+). There's obviously no #2 of anyone out there. But the style of play can be similar. Neuer looks a lot like Schmeichel. All action. And there's a reason people call De Gea with a Van in front of his name sometimes.

Other than getting someone proven out there that have a lot of experience + ability, I really don't know who to go for. But it didn't work out with Barthez for us. Same with Juve when they bought the then 29 year old VDS who was rated as one of the best at the time and he fail there. There's no sure thing. We just have to trust our gut and hope it all works out after we've done all we can to scout, do background research, and identify our targets.

I'm warming to the idea of having a kid in goal if he does sign for us. *-Rio-Vida-Evra in front of him should give him plenty of protection with their experience and whatnot. He will make mistakes no doubt. Even VDS does. Let's just hope like VDS, he can forget those mistakes quick and not affect his game too much.

Tweeting is fine. Just don't overdo it until can get ban from FA City. Rooney got into a banter and said something like he can knock the guy out in 10 seconds or something. While it is harmless, we don't want to our players to get into trouble. One badly worded tweet, could end up in jail as well.

That's some experience we gonna miss next season. It would trim our wages as well too.

Good luck to Hargreaves. He should join Everton. Maybe like Saha, he would magically be fit for half a season at least.

It's all about the quotes. Mostly if they have them directly, 99.9% sure it's true. It's directly from SAF. If got quotes and doesn't name a source, like an unnamed staff at the club/source close to the club, then most likely it's bullshit.

No need to be on official side if the quotes are directly from SAF's mouth.

It would have no bearing on the team line up. Outside stuff doesn't matter much unless if affects the performance of him on the pitch. And he, SAF and the rest of the team must have known already about it. So I don't see it as a problem. But the press will make sure to create a distraction before the final. Whatever happens, I expect it to be magnified 100 times over after the final and they will use the result of the game to further hammer Giggs.

I give him 8 years max.

Most likely Utd already have spoken to him and likely already know what decision he has given us. After all we don't have much time to make moves since VDS is retiring. De Gea is just taking his time to announce it.

It'll be the same even if the guy is rated as one of the worlds best around and is near 30 years old. See VDS at Juve, Barthez with us... there's no guarantee they would be successful no matter what age they are. Cech, Reina, Buffon, Cassilas.. we just have to take the pill, swallow it and see what effects it might have.
