Bandai Sue Hong Li" The Japanese media and toy company Bandai successfully sued the Chinese toy manufacturer Hongli for violating its trademarks with toys that closely resembled the designs in Bandai’s Mobile Suit Gundam and BB Senshi Sangokuden plastic models. Bandai filed the suit in November of 2009.
As a result, Hongli issued a public apology to Bandai, via an ad in the May 13 edition of the 21st Century Business News newspaper. The Chinese court also ordered Hongli to pay damages and Bandai’s legal fees totaling 820,000 yuan (about 10 million yen or US$130,000), and to stop selling of the offending goods.
Hongli appealed the original ruling, but the Beijing High Court upheld the ruling on December 17, 2010. In addition to the apology, Bandai is still working to ensure that the rest of the ruling is carried out."

QUOTE(MyKy44 @ May 21 2011, 12:59 AM) as long as they don't move their attention towards mc'model now....... i dont think there will be any legal issues except design copyrights. because Mcmodel already scale down the kit, made their own mold. instead of copying a directly.

let me quote from someone frm FB. QUOTE The "BRAND" tt hongli is shut down. But they can come bk as TT hongki, EE hongly..etc. $130000 to bandai for the settlement is nothing for TT, its basically beneficial for both parties. bandai rather sell their partially damaged molds to TT for $$ than destroy em' for nothing. The court case probably was a show for the diehard Gunpla fans in Japan, $130000 to bandai once a year really is nothing for China nowadays, plus buying all the damaged molds fr Bandai; we are talking about $$$$; to both sides.

Where did this guy get information about TTHL buying their damaged moulds?
That sentence in bold is already wrong. They pay USD130000 and are not allowed to sell them anymore. Registering a new company and selling it might be possible but i'm sure the courts would interfere, unless it's some underground company.
