install any tint is already illegal
so if u wanna pass them...install something that is not too dark..and say it's OEM tint and FYI..DARK doesn't equal to filtering alot of heat and UV u need to check the brand and the UV rejection rate and IR rejection rate not how dark the tint is |

one of my friend had 80% on his side mirrors, and 90% on his back. it was freakin dark, from outside cannot even see inside even if you go near. he got stopped by police that same night itself. but uptill now still going fine, roadblocks then have to roll down window. feels like its at night inside the car

50% for front windscreen? you'll have trouble driving at night for sure.. JPJ regulations aren't for sucking your money, they are for safety. Too dark on the windscreen will give reduce your visibility.

Kinda agree.... it is gonna be difficult driving at nightUnless you have perfect eyesight and used to the dark Mine is probably 60% 'telus cahaya' for front and around 35-40% for my side ... driving at night at dark stretch or dark carpark sometimes is quite scary .... >.> So far i passed most roadblock without any issue.. sometimes i do wind down the window if i have passenger in my car n ask them to smoke |

cheap or expensive, make sure the front is more than 70% VLT, and other windows 50% VLT.
of course, we cannot be sure about the spec, but at least if JPJ kacau, the shop will be responsible - you can claim from them or let they settle the summons for you, simply because they claim that their tint is 'JPJ approved'.. |

QUOTE(mashimierul @ May 15 2011, 09:40 PM) No tint is JPJ approved.Next, u must check what's the VLT of ur current windscreen. Sure all tint shops will tell u their product is 'approved'. What they don't tell u is, certain car models, the ori windscreen already has a VLT of 80%-90%, so when they apply the -30% tint on to it, ur windscreen's VLT became 50%-60% which will definately fail the JPJ's test when u encounter them on the road. |

i thinking of installing car tint http://www.everyday.com.my/coupons/jb/wcool.htm so i went to buy this coupon. but after reading several threads in LYN, i cannot understand the vendor, he has black 50%, 35%, 25%, 5%.. so far, you guys had been saying front driver sidescreen minimum 70VLT, behind side screen 50VLT. so what should i tell the vendor.. front 25%? back 50%? is it too dark and too tinted? |

The tint shop keep told me that tat is actually not a dark tint. But holy shit, after done 2 layer of tint form together, It is really dark! Somehow did affect a bit during night. I guess i wanna peel off the front windscreen and redo the tinted... Bloody hell kena tint shop tipu...

Bloody hell kena tint shop tipu... so you wanna tear it off? well, if you are tearing then you gonna tear both layers of film.. it's kinda impossible to tear just one layer without damaging the other layer. If you are okay with side windows, just tear the windscreen tint and go any tint shop to re-tint the windscreen. If you are not okay with side windows, I think you might just have to tear everything off and redo your tint as I felt your current % of VLT does not pass JPJ too. I guess the shop didn't tipu you, it's becoz any 2 layers of "not dark" tint being together, they would be "very dark" tint. Go for high % of VLT film for second layer. This post has been edited by shiyau: Dec 28 2011, 10:37 AM |

QUOTE(SYL17 @ Dec 28 2011, 11:43 AM) oh ok now i understand. your explanation very clear. thanks bro! nope.. you have to see whether it gives high rejection of infrared (IR) or not~ VLT doesn't affect the price usually.so i guess the good deal is not that good, since the vendor giving only 50%.hehee The higher the % rejection of IR, the higher the price. VLT 50%, but if IR is low (I have checked your link, they didn't state whether how high % is the IR rejection), you will still feel hot with that film.. IR above 70% or 80% would be good as it rejects large amount of heat, but however, if will cause disturbance to GPS and Smart Tag users. This post has been edited by shiyau: Dec 28 2011, 02:21 PM |

hi all,
wanna ask is the sport light test on tint accurate or not? i just tinted with sun-gard and during sport light test, i dont feel any heat at all but when driving back my car, found that heat is still feel-able. is this normal? maybe the spotlight doesn;t provide as much as the sunlight? thx This post has been edited by Intel@Atom: Jan 6 2012, 08:25 AM |
