As I know, it doesn't matter when you registered, the value is based on the manufactured date. a 2011 manufactured car forever is 2011 even it is registered in 2012
*
sorry for silly question - how we know whether car manufuctured at yr 2011 or 2012? base on doc stated or physically on car itself? Thx tongue.gif

QUOTE(gregy @ Dec 18 2011, 12:35 AM)
The value as dictated by banking policy. Banks calculate loan tenures this way. Anyway the residual value difference between an end 2011 car and an early 2012 car is minimal. The additional freebies you get is to offset this difference.

Try and approach an SA for a 2012 car in March and see if you can get as many freebies as buying now? You'll find them singing a different tune cos the principal will not approve higher discounts, hence the SAs won't have much savings to pass on to their customers.
*
sound logic.. then i have no reason to wait til next yr tongue.gif
but then it should apply same concept to insurance thingy right?

Understand from SA, have to wait till the 2011 Forte finished sold in market, then Nava will only release 2012 Forte. Estimate by end of Jan or Feb to get the car. Also, there will be no change for 2012 Forte, just the second hand value different smile.gif
*
wat mean by "second hand value different"? are u trying to said the 2nd value increasing nowadays?
btw where to refer manufacturing date. My SA mentioned when it was assemble than consider its birth cert hmm.gif hmm.gif

When u all get ur car in 2012, but manufacturing date is 2011, then it makes ur car 2011/12....in 2nd car shop, ur price will b going for 2011...
and of coz, price drop(resale value)....even ur car is registered 2012, but manufacturing shows 2011, means all parts and installation is ready on 2011, juz carried forward to 2012.....if u wan resale value better, plz wait till at least april or may to get manufactured year 2012 edition....
i knw this coz i work in 2nd/recond car dealer company....is best to get ur car by mid of the year...not beginning or end of the year....coz finance will determine the value of ur car through manufacturing date, not registered date....that's y u can see so many cheap recond cars around, coz of the manufacturing date...i saw a nissan skyline manufacturing 2004, but registered 2008, that makes the car only sold for RM20x,xxx in recond unit....while a R35 manufacturing 2008, register 2010.....not sure about the price, but sure will be low, coz consider it 3 years...going 4 years R35...
*
is that still possible to request 2012 manufactured car by Feb 2012? or it depand on dealer stock, have to clear all 2011 stock first? sad.gif sad.gif

If fuel is ur concern then worth it. For me, power 1st, fuel 2nd. With that power/speed, I need a car with a lot of safety features. Can't understand why people drive below 100km/h just bcoz want to achieve low fc...
Speed didn't kill but stupid & careless kill...
13 years ago, running 110km/h make me sleepy & hentam side divider. Lucky no car from the back. After that speed limit is priority no 2. Careful is no 1...

dun think i will go that at this moment, by looking at the battery exchange price, its kill me and even fuel money that u saved end up will paid back at battery cost then doh.gif but with it fully imported Japanese car at this price, hmm this is awesome some more ppl claim its safety feature tip top shocking.gif

As an owner, i think you should really test its power. So far compared to my sisters 1.6sx (6spd), after few times compare, confirm Insight faster. Especially the roll-on power. Insight cheats with its abundance torque (IMA motor). Simultaneous run from Johor to KL, average 140km/h, 1.6sx consume 28liters while Insight 13.7liters.
It wont kill you. The battery cost only RM5-6k and going cheaper. The savings from Excise & Imports duty exemption already more than RM30k.
Yeap its not suitable if you always carry all adults. The most is 4 adults and 1 kid; ok. The center back seat is high. The rear legroom is good though.

Insight and Forte is a different car altogether but people will always compare it due to almost similar price tag, together with City, Vios, Inspira etc. I used to prefer Forte 2.0sx but the refinement in Insight caught me. I frequently travel alone so space is not my concern. But the only niggling issue with Forte that hold me back last time was the pull-to-the-left issue. Some can address it by adjusting the camber etc but it comes back after sometimes/ tyre worn etc. My sister keeps complaining on that also.
*
u saved 14.3L (RM27.17) every time travel. consider u travel twice a month for 5yrs u saved 1716L or RM3260 (if Ron95 with rm1.90). replaced battery after 5 yrs cost u said 4K = u still lost money pocket RM740 cry.gif
i think this car mainly aim for those like tech/features enjoyment and also suit for those go green. overall i still din see it cost less for money paid on fuel.

but silly question, are you sure Insight faster than Forte 1.6SX(6 spd)?? how it could be? hmm.gif

Believe me. Or you have to try it.

That is for high speed driving. For town driving, the savings multiply.
And based on 1st gen Insight CVT, the battery can last mostly 180-200k miles = 288-320k km.

http://www.insightcentral.net/forums/honda...ife-poll-2.html

They conclude, regular usage will extend battery life compared to seldom use. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
anyone can help confirm as i was not able to drive both Insight and Forte in the same time to compare its high speed driving performance. Or you all just think if extra 10K is not a concern then Insight is a better choice? blink.gif

Selling at RM77,777, which means almost at the original price if includes the insurance and ownership transfer fees.
