I'm still deciding whether to go for 1.6SX or 2.0SX.

... wondering if the extras worth 12k difference or not (= 150 monthly for 7 years 90% loan)

My advise is, if u can afford the 2.0SX, then go for it. U wont regret..it simply worth the higher monthly payment. As u said, got 6 airbags, leather seats & a more powerful engine..u forgot that the 2.0SX also got the Autocruise & the Electric Power Steering (said to saves fuel). U will appreciate the extra power & torque that it has especially when u need it the most for a quick & brief overtaking maneuver...

The FC issue needs to be looked at more objectively. Let's consider the following:

1.6SX - Between 7-9l/100km average
2.0SX - Betweeen 9-11l/100km average
So the difference, per full tank, is between 2-4l/100km. Usually, most ppl fill up when the tank is near empty or around 400++ km mileage. So in terms of per full tank, the diff is:

(400km / 100km) x 2 = 8 litres, or RM15.20 per tank, OR

(400km / 100km) x 4 = 16 litres, or RM30.40 per tank.
But honestly, there is one point I'd like to throw in favor of the 1.6SX. The seats! I find the 1.6SX's velour seat (driver's side) has better support for my butt (better bucket design) than the 2.0's leather seat.

Thanks for the replies.

I am driving an old Wira 1.5 MT and the FC is 6.5-8.5L/100km.

With 2.0, I will have to pay extra on the insurance + road tax too (but by how much difference?).

If I really opt for 2.0, I might as well extend my loan from the planned 7 years to 9 years.

I'm planning to get a car (most likely Forte 1.6 or 2.0) before CNY (in January 2012 doh.gif)

Like to get some opinion on purchasing a car in last quarter of the year.

Pros:
- There are some quite attractive offerings now (check myforteclub brows.gif )
- Much much better chance to get the car before CNY

Cons:
- The car will be one year old in the next 2 months.

I'm purchasing the car with no trade-in. So the concern of servicing the installment for current car does not exist.

What do you think?

I'm still torn apart in selecting 1.6 or 2.0.

What shared by gregy is really what been playing in my head EVERYDAY now! rclxub.gif

If I'm going for 2.0, I will need to fork out around RM3.5k - RM4k extra every year. This amount of money is not small and could contribute to other more important stuffs (like new house expenses)... and not so important stuffs (like going for annual trips tongue.gif)

With 2.0, I get more power (fun factor), better safety measurements (other additional features not really that matter to me). But, I will get higher FC, higher commitment in servicing the loan, etc.

Anyway, for me, leather seat is a must. So if I am really going for 1.6, I will surely get it wrapped with leather. The SC has quoted me extra RM2K and can be bundled in the car loan. I think it's slightly more expensive though.

Actually I'm not the best example of average FC on a 2.0SX. There are some who can get much better results than me. Fuel costs is the least of your worries as that can be controlled by your right foot. What you can't control is road tax and monthly installments. If you think it's going to be a stretch then better stick to a 1.6. However, don't la after getting the car then after a while you feel it underpowered, go and spend money to mod this mod that. You will end up spending quite a bit and still not go very fast lol...

And if you're getting a 1.6 please do yourself a favor and go for the SX. You may not realize it now, but 5 yrs from now when all the extra features of the SX (TCS, EBD, push start, reverse cam, paddle shift etc) start appearing on most new cars as standard equipment, you will find that the EX version will be less in demand and seem very outdated.

I learned this from modding PCs last time hehe. Always pay for the best technology you can afford so your PC will have a longer service life.

It's either 1.6SX or 2.0SX smile.gif

I'm very tempted to mod too tongue.gif

With current best offer (such as body kit, emblem etc), I guess the stock car is good enough to last for 1 year.

Current decision is 1.6SX, but my heart is kinda itchy for fun factor; thinking of "heck, I'm spending ~1.2k monthly (for 7 years), why not add RM150 extra to get something I enjoy (more in) driving?" That's my emotional struggle sweat.gif

Objectively, when I put on paper, it will be like this:

Annual payment:
============
Installment extra = RM150x12 = RM2100 (annually)
Road tax extra = RM290

This alone is ~RM2400 annually

FC:
==
I know FC varies. From my research (in reading forums), the "average" difference between 1.6 and 2.0 is around 2L/100km.

I drive ~600km weekly (round trip to work is 100km).
So, 600kmx52weeks = 31200km/year.

The extra in FC= 2L/100km x 33600km/year = 624L / year ~ RM1185 / year smile.gif

Total = RM2400 + RM1185 ~ RM3600 / year shocking.gif

u dun have to wrap up the seats.. add rm2400 to get leather seats for the 1.6 sx.. and now they even come with free bodykit and changing the logo..

Aiyo, why wait till 2012.
I just approve by loan and sign agreement this morning. Lol.
Since kia have low second hand value.
I don't think I'm gonna sell it. Not really care about that one year.
Most important is, I do not intend to wait.
"Wait" will make me stress, tired, no energy to work and faint.
I just make up my mind in one week then straight buy it lo. LoL!!!

1.6 sx white. Will be releasing next week.
Getting from K.S. Loh from Serdang jaya.
Very good dealer.

Coming into New member over here ^^.

Congrats on your new ride biggrin.gif

I'm also checking with Loh.

For me, I need to ensure that I understand the differences and the risk of purchasing the car in 2011 and 2012. This is my most expensive "liability" purchase tongue.gif

Back to the topic of 2011 vs 2012, any taker?

Is door visor necessary?

I find most of the newer car designs do not have it in stock condition. Also, it tends to generate more wind noise.

Actually what is the benefit of door visor? hmm.gif

I'm looking for Forte 2.0SX Titanium Silver to be delivered by CNY.

Thanks.
